"I'm reporting you cheaters"

    Tonight I joined 4 servers to go Galleon & Fort hunting. On each server we pretty much killed everybody we encountered and got the forts (except the last one).

    Out of those 4 servers 3 crews called us cheaters & said they would report us. The last crew (they did the fort while we where sinking another galleon & ran away with the key) even dropped the key on a island and came back just to tell us (while they sank) they hid the key and they where going to report us....

    Now, I've also thought that people where cheating some times, I get killed at full hp and only hear 1 shot sound, I have fired on people along with a crew mate comming up stairs with sniper & blunderbuss & see them take no damage.

    I'm usually guessing that these are server related issues and therefore I think I've probably never reported any of those guys before. I'm wondering if some of you have also encountered such players that say they report you if you attack them as well as players that seem unkillable when you fire at them or where you hear one bullet fire before dying one shot?

    In the 10+ years I've had this GT, I had never received a report until this game. Now I'm labeled as a cheater and unsporting?

    I get about 1 message a week from some
    Random person that says “reported”.

    I’m guessing they are just confusing me with another player cause I’m super nice and stuff and nothings ever come of it.

    I can’t inagibe why anyone would want to cheat in this game....like there is absolutely no reason to.

    Weapon switch, double shot. The server probably isn't letting you know they shot twice (it's very quick).

    They are... the desync in this game is astoundingly bad it seems. Or at least hit registry and audio bugs. I mean unless 4 sword swipes, a thrust, and sniper shot don't kill people anymore.... got videos to showcase it even...

    @el-dunco At least you got to keep your GT. After 20+ years mine was forcefully changed on me because of the [Mod Edit - Do not attempt to circumvent the profanity filter] from Sea of Censors. I would have gladly given up the game and forums to keep it. Had to go buy a PS4 just to have my GT again.

    It's a Sea of Casuals thinking they're not casual, so when they lose the seas get EXTRA salty.

    @el-dunco played with people for months before they realized what it actually spelled out. Guess Rare uses a good filter program.

    Sadly, some newbie players report "veteran" and Pirate Legends because they have skill and they are just jealous . . . also there is a certain layer of immaturity that one has to get through to find a good group of friends and people to play with the ones who won't get butt hurt so easy.

    Why just the other day I was sailing along with my 6 chests and 4 animals and a galleon full of Pirate Legends commandeered my entire hold of cargo . . . I wasn't mad (well a little because I should have turned left instead of right), but I tipped my cap and saluted them . . . after desperately trying to defend my riches!

    I always wonder the same. I have seen walhacks, teleports, shooting from giant distances and killing with one shoot from there, etc.

    In weird cases like that I report. Rare said they know if someone is really cheating, no errors, 100%. So I preffer to report and if they are not cheating Rare wont ban, but if they are we will have less cheaters,

    So if the server lets me hear two shoots from my crew, why would I hear only one shoot if an enemy does it legit? Cheating or extrelmy weird game design? I would like to know.

    Yesterday and enemy appeared on my back. In my back there was a ship wall.

    I don't know if there are new cheaters or if the servers are melting due to the summer. But something weird is happening.

    Macro is cheating. Many games ban for using it.

    Oh, I see. Then if I listen one shoot it means they are cheating.

    I wonder if Rare would ban someone for using macros. First they should clarify macros are not allowed if it is not in the rules. And then, HAMMER BAN!!!

    Macro is most def cheating since it gives an advantage, especially in a cross server game.

    If you have logs from the Client side it's pretty easy to detect since the times between the shots will be exactly the same each time.

    Hearing the double shot in a normal situation with your crew might not be the same as 2/3 crews on the same spot (which sometimes even makes the server lag...) moving arround, shooting, cannonballs flying, natives running behind you, etc etc..

    I wouldn't worry about it. I actually managed to kill a full galleon crew by myself and have been called a cheater for it and might have been reported as well. I just take it as a compliment as I'm not that good at the game, I always play with the controller and I'm usually the one ending up with my buddy the Ferryman. If you're not actually using anything to enhance your game, you don't have to worry.

    People often don't pay attention to their health in the heat of battle with bullets and cannonballs flying around. Then there's the misunderstanding of weapon damage, a one-shot kill is possible with the blunderbuss up close, weapon switching is done to shoot 2 bullets at a short time, headshots don't exist. Add connection issues in the mix and you have a whole lot of variables that explain why you might have just died.

    However the issue is that as soon as people can't explain what happened they're usually clinging to either it must be a PC user or it must be a cheater. The use of both of these has been blurred so much that they're often mentioned as one and the same... which is an incredibly sad state of affairs.

    Just enjoy yourself and respectfully ignore people making assumptions based on nothing.

    A better fix for macros is to simply have a weapon-swap cool down period, like 1/2 a second, basically after the animation of the weapon being switched. Right now they have animation cancelling which also helps digging up chests faster.

    I have not seen that anywhere and I would doubt their honesty if they ever did claim that. The only claim by Rare that I’ve read is they will investigate and make certain that someone is cheating before they are willing to ban them.

    I have never seen a good pirate legend. Obviously there are, but I have never found one. You knwo why? Because most of them only do quests to be 50 50 50. They are not pirates, they are sailors. They don't know how to PVP.

    Obviously there are good PVP pirate legends, but it is a minority. So the probably to find one is extremly low.

    Doubt what you want, they said it. And since they will never ban by wrong (this is how it should be in all the games), I preffer to report if I doubt and they will resolve it.
