Even dailies are unforgiving and too complicated

  • Okay so I was trying to complete today's daily with 6 fires. Doubloons are really valueable for me because I am a new player and have about 100 doubloons only.

In about 2-2.5h I've managed to collect 5 of them except lightning. I was chased by toxic players and PVE ships, nearly sunk several times. Anchored to take a bio-afk. Because I have to drink sometimes, I am just a human. And you know what? By the time I return literally running my ship is sunk by a skelly ship. Not a chance. Why the hell can't you make a DAILY a bit more simple? Not 0/1 but 0/6? I am okay with trying but I don't have THAT much time to play. Do you expect me to spend another 2 hours just to complete a daily (not even guaranteed)? How is this suposed to work?! Super angry and frustrated.

I am tired of this. This game is extremely unforgiving and gives literally no rewards in my case. I think I might need a therapist to recover.

  • @weisshorn2582 if something is going to be too much of a grind in a short period, dont do it. Or recruit a crew. Party boat isnt that bad, just need to get lightning first.

  • @weisshorn2582 Wow you have more doubloons than I do! Next time focus on the hard ones first then move to the easy ones. Make sure that you finish the six fires far away from other ships so that there isn't a chance of getting sunk.

  • @captain-coel this is the main problem of this game. No matter what you do, chances of getting nothing for a long session are kinda high. That's why I call this game unforgiving. Sadly I don't have friends whi play SoT, and party... well, it's complicated. Also imo lighting is tough, but PVP is worse since you have to save your boat, but die.

@supersnipper60 I haven't spent them on anything, so imo 100 is kinda small amount.

Why save the boat? Do the pink first, kamikaze your ship if needed, or go towards an enemy ship with a rowboat.

If it takes you a therapist to recover from not getting a few doubloons, you are in for a hard time.

  • How are you collecting these? I think you might be going about this the hard way.

    1. Dying to firebombs will give you the Red
    2. Idling or waiting in the water will give a shark that gives you Blue
    3. Skeletons, which are found on every island, will give you Green
    4. A snake or a VenomBall will give you Purple

All of these can be found on one island with snakes. High chance a barrel will have a firebomb and you can wait in the water for a shark. That is pretty much one stop. This shouldn't be taking you 2 hours to get this stuff.

The last two are trickier, but dying to a storm isn't too tricky, just make sure you put yourself to low health before getting struck. You are also eventually bound to find another player, considering even your story you speak of constantly getting attacked. Your problem is you are expecting quick results as a solo player in a multiplayer game. The game is only unforgiving when you play it in a manor that makes it more challenging than it needs to be.

The simplest solution here is group up. Til then, you will struggle for a long time til you get to a level of skill to handle solo. You could also go for the Reaper's chests if you are worried about doubloons. They can be found by following the colorful streamers flowing upwards in the sky. They also appear on the map as a Red Skull. Beware, they can attract other players to your ship since the tracker shows on your ship as well. They can also only be cashed at the Reaper's hideout, make sure to check the island for players before cashing it. Look for mermaids, boats, or rowboats, they will always be a sign of player presence.

Maybe you are right. But this game wasn't really kind to me in many ways. That's why I'm trying to point out that a simple daily shouldn't be this complicated.

I am not expecting quick results. Imo daily quest is a simple thing that should be available for all kinds of players so they could achieve at least something for the day.

Yeah, and they vary every day. The daily from the day before was to light a single beacon on an island, how hard was that? It's a good thing there is some variety and some slightly more challenging than others.

Imo nope. Daily quests aren't some high-end encounters that has to be challenging. Let's say that the daily quest is only as good as if the worst solo player is able to do it.

That's not this game buddy. Sea of Thieves has its challenges. There are tools to finding crews for people who dont have friends to play with.

What so spawn into the game and find a banana or cannon ball?

My, people do like to bandy that word about.. Everyone needs a challenge sometimes you know..

I know that it has challenges and I've went through some of them already. I'm just trying to point out that SoT doesn't have to be complicated in every type of activity to be still a great game. Don't you agree that accumulating 0/6 would be fun but also not so punishing for solo players/average players/complete newbies? I bet you have been playing SoT for a long time and I'm not sure if you really understand the experience of newcomers and all the pain where it's absolutely unnecessary.

Toxic=The act of using language and other belittling words.

  • @weisshorn2582 I'm a solo slooper and I can get all of them if I wished to. I bet newcomers don't even know what Flames of Fate are until they read the rep page/die and go the the fountain.

How your "oh I can easily do that" is supposed to help others? Facepalm. Stop seeing the world out of your nutshell and try putting yourself in shoes of someone else.

Yes, but not only that. Belittling and making others feel miserable on purpose is toxic.

  • @weisshorn2582 you are correct. I haven't been new to SoT since it launched amd everyone was figuring it out. I have introduced new players to the game and helped them learn to play though. I do understand some of the growing pains in this game. I have 2000+ hrs and am still learning things.

  • @weisshorn2582 Do you need a breather?? Challenges aren't meant to be easy. I agree with @wagstr and finding a banana or cannonball. Would that suit you?

That's a lot. And thanks for helping new players. But as you can see even in this topic, a lot of people in the community are toxic, violating article 6 of the pirate code and clearly wanting others to feel bad/miserable just because.

  • @weisshorn2582 Just because we didn't respond with sympathy and pity because you sank doesn't give you the right to call us toxic.

Don't lie. You haven't replied with sympathy and pity, right. But you clearly wrote toxic and belittling stuff to make me feel worse. That's another story. I hope that bully mindset has no place on this forum and this game.

  • @weisshorn2582 it sounds like you were alone, find a crew will provide you with a more relaxing experience where you have others to have your back.

We shall sail together, is the song of legends.

True that. My friends don't play SoT and joining random crew seems a bit stressful just yet (bought the game less than 2 weeks ago). I will definitely try, thanks.

  • Try not to stress about it too much. This game has a pretty steep learning curve, especially if you are playing solo. Many of the dailys are noob friendly, so if one seems out of reach, a new one will be live tomorrow. Keep at it and you will have more gold and dabloons than you can spend.

  • @weisshorn2582 if you cant even do simple daily missions without crying this game is not for you. The seas have too much salt already.

  • All the dailys have been super simple and way too easy to do. (Drink a grog, get 1 fish, etc)
This is the first one which takes slightly more effort to complete.
It would be really boring if all the dailys are easy and simple to do.
    Anyways, unlucky for you!

    Happy sailing!

  • Thanks for all the kind words and tips guys.

@capt-kanna if you can't comply with the pirate code article 6 I doubt this game and this forum is for you. Please don't be toxic and think about the fact that your experience may be dramatically different than the experience of another person. Some empathy is good. Bullying isn't.

  • @weisshorn2582 i didnt mean to be toxic but its the truth. The truth can be hard sometimes... but man i cant take it serious.. you said you been playing for 2 weeks and you're already calling for nerfs on daily quests which are so simple... all u people calling for nerfs are ruining the game... even kraken got nerfed so much that you can kill it in less than 5 seconds... and no maybe this forum og game isnt for me. It aint currently with this noob friendly state its in. All the pve content is veing reduced to status JOKE cus all the 8 year old kids are asking for nerfs cus they dont want to learn and adapt.

  • @capt-kanna said in Even dailies are unforgiving and too complicated:

@weisshorn2582 i didnt mean to be toxic but its the truth.

The only truth is that instead of giving some advises or showing little empathy/support or just walking by you are posting that this game is not for me and all that sarcastic "seas have too much salt already". It's funny that you then blame some 8 year old kiddos because you don't demonstrate any adult behavior, just some bully and blaming mindset.

  • Game is fine. The sea is unforgiving. As it always is ingame or life.

If everything was “easy” or simple. Nobody would be playing.

I'm sorry you feel that way.

  • @capt-kanna Please keep it respectful- there is no need for rude personal attacks, they are against the Pirate Code, and can result in a ban from the forums if it becomes a habit.

  • Always get pink first.

They are very specific tho. Use default emotes and if it involves a lantern get a colour first.

I finished today's (turn in an indigo splashtail) in about 15-20 minutes.

  • @weisshorn2582 well you dont come here asking for advice you came her asking for nerfs.
