Revised: thoughts on private servers

  • @dadiodude If there are so many, then you probably could name a few that provide include free dedicated servers for coop play right?

I’ve only a gig of storage so not too much on the hard drive.
CoD MW3 - Campaign co-op and private servers.
    Halo 5 - Microsoft
    GoW 4 - Microsoft
    FM7 - Custom lobby. Microsoft
    FH4 - Custom lobby. Microsoft
BFV - this was surprisingly on your list despite having co-op.

I’ve no idea why you’re pushing this. Most every game I buy that has MP also has online co-op. It’s just normal.

  • @dadiodude pretty sure most of those are peer to peer for the coop modes (as in one of the players is hosting)

  • First Person shooters with custom lobbies don’t go towards their rank in the actual online play. As for coop modes they are specific modes made for coop that don’t interact with their rank on the online mode. The coop modes they have are generally story mode. The closest thing in the game that comes to story mode are the tall tales. You can’t compare this game to ones of different nature. You know why I don’t play fifa World Cup? Because I don’t like fifa World Cup. Instead of knit picking the game and trying to change it I just don’t play it. I’m sure you don’t play every game ever made. I’m not saying don’t make private servers I’m saying you should not be able to rank up in them. Specially if they were capable of mods. You could just mod yourself to legend. Which I am all for mods. If not wanting progression in a private server is selfish than wanting a pve only mode with progression in a private lobby mode is also selfish. It will gameplay on adventure mode.

Not in the way I believe you’re thinking. On XBox everything is hosted on Live servers. Every user is a client. An XBox can’t host a session. Host on XB simply means the player that started the session. This can give them the ability to change game parameters. It’s been this way since XB One.

As a side note, Microsoft made massive investment in its server network increasing from (IIRC) a few thousand to something over a quarter million to cope with this and the advent of cloud gaming.

360 era was much more conventional.
