there should be a time limit on how long from when you join the lobby to when you can be put into the brig because many players will join only to have people instantly throw them in the brig
time limit on brig
I understand your problem with this
The only problem I can find is as follows:
To properly enforce a Brig Time Limit, you would need to have a cooldown period after the player is released in which no one can vote them straight back in to the brig.
If someone is genuinely trolling/griefing your ship and you throw them in the brig, they serve their time and then come back out with a window of being invincible from punishment.@thesevenseven27 Honestly, if you time limit the brigg to avoid misuse, it won't do anything but one of two things. Either they will just rotate brig clock on you so you are perma brig or you will eliminate the use of the brig in general. It would be a shame to put someone in the brig and then go on the island to grab the treasure to turn about and see the "brig" player sailing away with your ship.
@smcdisaster but mos of the time if that player is bad they wouldve left by the time the brig opened because they cant do anything bad so they will jump severs to ruin someone else's day but its when some just joins the lobby that within the minute they are put in the brig which is unfair
@thesevenseven27 so what if they integrated a no chest no brig load time. So say the first 5-10 minutes after you join a game you are unable to team harm, team loot (touch chests) or be placed in the brig. However, this time is waived should team harm be attempted. Maybe even grey the brig option out until an offence is committed. I.E. Team fire, killing, ship scuttle, or even robbery.
I agree an adjustment can be made but there has to be a balance, not just for the player going into the brig for joining, but for the players sending them to teh brig to protect themselves and chests.
@thesevenseven27 Yes absolutely, the online community is a very toxic world. Overwatch discovered that, PUBG discovered that.......
If this game doesn't watch for the trolls, the toxic players, the abusive languages in ref to all body parts and functions, doesn't focus on a system that allows cheaters, modders, toxic players, non-team players (in a team game) who refuse to aid.
Ive seen it before.
@smcdisaster said in time limit on brig:

What do mean by team harm
@shaggiedo pretty much taking your teams chests and throwing them off the ship or taking all their supplies and leaving the lobby, that's team harm
as you may know there exists a Mega-Thread where everything discussed :)
i gonna link it hereright now gimme a sec my Keyboard is stuck in my Toilet
ah now i got itThere really needs to be a time limit or a ban to allow joiners to throw the other person in the brig as they are trying to complete a voyage. I just had two people join me while I was on an island trying to solve a riddle and they just threw me in the brig twice! This is a little ridiculous. All I wanted to do was to finish the voyage and get off the game. What a waste of my time.
I got brigged by a pirate legend. Not sure how he did it, but at one point there were 3 of us in there but not him.
Then I wasn't ever able to be released because for some reason the other 2 voting me out wasn't enough and he was being a b*****g.
Then they drowned me.
Long story short, I stayed in the ship of the damned with a weight on my keyboard and waited about an hour for them to do an entire legendary voyage.
Still profited and they were a man down.
The brig is a stupid mechanic that really wasn't thought through at all. It'd be better just to have vote kick, though there's no way to actually make it work without griefing.
Even just vote kicking the player from your crew but allowing them to stay on the server would be better, but then again this whole game is pretty half baked tbh.
