Boosting/Playing with Cheaters

  • (Not regarding support, but discussion on adding a new "rule" Rare needs to start implementing)

Simple: If you are getting boosted in Hourglass or playing with a cheater knowingly and frequently, you will be banned.

Cheating is already a major issue, but nobody address why they are able to cheat. On Ebay, you can buy boosts in Hourglass and commendation completions for 400-1000 dollars. If there are systems to illegally cheese the system, then that's grounds for a massive punishment, just like any other video game.

Cheaters will of course get banned, but Rare needs to extend its reach when taking down cheating. They need to start looking into websites that supply cheat software, markets that sell boosts by cheaters, or any platform harboring cheaters.

  • @karminiumsot what if the player doesn't know his friend is cheating?

  • @fellow77307 if they keep playing despite bans, then that's on them. usually cheaters dont make it subtle when they're boosting and carrying their customers.

  • I agree on this statement, it’s just at times I feel like it should be ok for me to pay good players to carry me in hg, I’m lucky enough to have had the time when I was younger to got lvl 100 in servants but now I’ve got a job and stuff I just can’t get the hours to grind hg anymore so it could be a help to tag along with the pros, just not cheaters as that ruins the game.

  • I think Rare is already punishing boosted-by-cheater players.
    It's harder to prove.
Because you don't want to punish players who are randomly joined by cheaters through open crew.
Yes, some cheaters enjoy open crew hopping. Some are deliberately boosting a player - whether through a friendship or paid arrangement.

Seeing a player in the same crew as a cheater 1x or 2x isn't enough.
    3x maybe yes.
Or at least, that's what happened in 1 of my support tickets - when I noticed the same player across 3 support tickets with proven blatant cheaters.
If I recall correctly, the boosted player was suspended. Not permanently removed. Enough to be a warning that the next incident might lead to a more serious punishment.

When I create support tickets, I always include the names of the cheater's crew. So it's easier to identify if someone is frequently being boosted by cheaters. I hope that Rare is tracking it on the backend as well.
Haven't seen them in hourglass for a while. Or at least, not the obvious wall-banging flying machine gun types. Still suspicious of some players who hit every cannon shot from the start of the match - even while at long range, and can't hit their chainshots.
