@contentzilla
I think its cause Rare is a bunch of nice guys. They always wanna push friendly and social interactions.
From what i hear about Summ1t , he only pvps and is really entitled and whiny.I bet if a streamer as big as Summit was playing, being nice, playing both sides of the game, Rare would be more likely to embrace them.
I agree they should embrace streamers more. I know they do on mixer, but there are alot of streamers these days. At least one of them should fit the bill of the type of pirate Rare wants to promote.
Another problem i see players say is that this game is just not exciting to stream.
Lots of downtime sailing between islands.
Accomploshing anything in this game takes alot of time.
Thats why i think Summit is popular.
Hes a pvp guy who showcases the fun action packed moments in the game.Back before the double gun nerf I had heard that a bunch of streamers all of a sudden jumped on the bandwagon for this game. So dusted of Twitch and saw that SOT was one of the top 3 games being streamed with thousands of viewers. I couldn't believe but so glad to see this since the Anniversary updated was around the corner.
I then decided to tune into Summit's steam and found that his focus on PvP was very entertaining. He and his crew would sneak onto boats to see if they were newbs or PLs in disguise doing Athena runs. If they were newbs and there was nothing to steal of value they would move on to the point where they would sever hop. I found this play style very honorable. They all did the double gunning too but they did it the legit way without using a macro to instant shoot so once again they seemed to be playing honorably. I then had the pleasure of seeing him come across a group of PLs doing an Athena. This was very exciting because he and the crew he had were your typical adult gamers in their 20s. They were laughing and swearing and strategizing on how they could get that Athena's chest once they dug it. The Summit guy snuck onto the ship and hid behind the captain's chair to give updates to his crew. Then once they got the chest on board they sprung the trap. Summit wasn't playing a very good PvP game the one time I watched and he died but his crew was able to stop, sink and kill the enemy crew. They then recovered the Athena's chest and it was quite the show. Now, I'm not one to normally watch streamer but I gotta hand it to him, he makes it exciting and fun.
But yeah I gotta agree with you NWO, I think Rare is a bunch of super nice guys and they don't like the more intense PvP play style and they obviously don't encourage it since there is no incentive in any of the modes to kill other players. I think this is a misstep by them, PvP should be encouraged in the correct situations like say Arena. But Rare is stubborn so we shall see if this all works out for them.
Who is "Summit" to the Sea of Thieves community? Just another player. A player btw who lays claim to tactics we were utilizing back in the Alpha! He has brought absolutely nothing to the table concerning the longevity of the game. This game as it stands is loaded with excitement but you have to embrace it. All of it! Summit only wants what Summit wants as he continually fails to grasp the pvpve atmosphere. The game is fine but they do need to tighten it up a little concerning playability. Not being able to sword lunge stinks. Rowboat chatter stinks. Hit reg stinks. Don't worry about Summit. Fix these little glitches.
@vulgrim-pvp those days are approaching fast people on here like to turn a blind eye when you say the game is dying they don't like to hear the truth the people that actually pvp in adventure mode can see just how the numbers are getting smaller especially if you play daily. They need to fix combat they have added mostly nerfs to all weapons sword is now not even worth using.
@grimholder getting into servers in this game in adventure mode would make any sane person think it's dead they don't prioritize filling the server with 6 ships and have too many servers for their active player count. This game is dying wether people want to believe it or not and the only ones who endlessly argue and say it's alive and well are the pve players they are the ones that see its dead and enjoy being able to gather loot with no worry they want private servers they pretty much have them. Only reason I play this game anymore is to run the game for those people who want to see adventure mode as pve only if I'm on your boat and you tell me go to arena oh boy I'm going to spawn kill you till you cry, scuttle, or quit.
@contentzilla I watched one of Summits streams out in the Roar. It was "staged" there's no way he lays next to the map table on a Brig unrecognized while Pirate Legend enemies pass him 8 times. Sorry but that's staged. While he's good at fighting I don't believe for one second that he actually legitimately pulled off half the heist he streamed. We all have tucked and pulled off heists but not in such blatantly horrible spots!
I will say the money is a little light on the water right now but that comes and goes. The reason the moneys light isn't a lack of ships, it's a lack of competent opponets. I've come across so many ships that I felt bad for as they were sinking to skelly ships or Megs. The quality of the average crew is way way down right now which to me means there's a pretty good influx of new players. We guide em and they'll get hooked. We flex our muscle too much and we'll chase them off. Make an 5k rule. If they're hauling less than 5k give them quarter. Even help them. If it's worth looting loot it!Any theory that the game is dying based upon personal experiences is patently false due to how the servers balance player numbers. Players join and leave servers all of the time. They never truly empty out. The ONLY REASON it feels more empty is because of the expanding map. Ever since the Devil's Roar was included, and the Shores of Gold after that, players are still around - they're just spread out. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean that they're not there. They're not stationary either - they move as you move, so it's entirely possible to go hours without seeing anyone. Furthermore, it's rumored that the voyages you get are designed to keep you away from other players for ~30 minutes, and then draw you closer to them over time. So, no the game is not dying, and the matchmaking works just fine.

No thanks man, we don't need streamers at all. Streamers are a crutch for bad game developers and poor marketing teams.
Truly GREAT games are popular because they were wisely developed and their developers and design teams worked hard to provide the best possible game mechanics and highest quality of game play with out compromise.
@swimmdude1 equal to arena? I can't remember getting gold for sinking someone...you lose 1000 SILVER when you sink, but nobody get's gold for that
I agree with the people here who say no, if you can’t accept defeat and just learn from it then you can’t become a better player. If no PVP existed in this game it wouldn’t be worth playing doing the same fetch quests. The element of danger comes from other players, do you trust them or do you fight them?
If summit can’t accept defeat and instead just rants about it then he shouldn’t be playing, learn from the mistake and try again and if you refuse then go and play something else.

I think this game is dying so we need to stop putting in harpoons and make the game special. Give a reward for taking down a ship like 1,500 gold. Take out dumb stuff like earthquakes and lower spawn rate of ghost ships. Try to focus on maxed out servers. You guys still have a chance to bring this game back. Summit1g was the biggest sot streamer, he quit because of the reasons that I just said. He is the biggest, you need to contact him and listen to what he has to say.
No this game has enough tumors.
Nah. As I said in the now deleted thread about Summits recent critic on SOT. His opinions is all over the place and will destroy plenty of stuff.
He literally wants Rare to delete the entire eastern Devils bit. No volcanos. No earthquakes. No hot water.
I for one want even more enviromental dangers! Tornados! Whirlpools! Tsunamis! Whatever else the devs come up with!
Summit makes great entertainment content. But his suggestions for SOT, outside of things like hitreg being messed up, is just the opinions of someone who had a salty time getting killed or woken up from sleep by an earthquake.
Take them with a grain of salt.@contentzilla Basically, that's the way it is. In this case it is different. This streamer tries to impose his own way of playing on the whole game. It is not the intended method of playing that you hide on another ship to rob it. First, he was a double gun hero. He was upset about the double gun nerf. This streamer now plays almost exclusively like a lurker and gets angry if the game does not support it sufficiently. He tries to make his mark on the game. Listen to his insults, how angry he is that the developers don't accommodate his personal way of playing - since he is the most important player of all, in his eyes. He claims this game needs his help.
His behaviour doesn't deserve any support. This is not the game of the lurker, of the thief in the shadow and the double gun heroes. Therefore the support for this boy, also from the active community, is so negative.

I respectfully disagree. Every streamer is different. They’re not all aholes (though the aholes are usually the loudest ones). The key is attracting the right ones. Ones that know how to handle defeat gracefully without chucking a tantrum and also don’t think themselves superior to the masses and therefore being the only ones, in their opinion, that should be listened to. Those are the types of streamers I want to see.
This game was made for streaming. Every experience is different, meaning endless content creation that doesn’t go stale (at least for an extended period).

@rare I think I found a way through the profanity filter by accident. Thought I’d better flag it before I get into trouble for something unintentional.

I think they dont like what @Goedecke-Michel said about Summit1g.
The "intense PvP playstyle" you mentioned to me is something different. Not entirely, i also snuck onto ships, observe them and their route to steal from them etc...
But i do it very much more playfull while allways ready to make fun with the others crew, wont get upset if i got killed, never even think bad about the others until they behave like jerks.
I allways show mercy for very young or new players.
I dislike the want to "own" others and play on their costs.
I dislike the bragging and egocentric elitist character of many gamers who dont play with others, but play tricks on others without caring for their fun and a playfull community focussing on fun.
When i steal someones chest i want them to have fun anyway.
I even fail extra for a laughter for everybody. Not always, but why not, i'm ready to do so, because it's not about only me it's about us all.
Is Summit or the one or the other hardcore gamer here ready to aproach it that playful? No!?
Sad.
When i read @fastbike94I'm going to spawn kill you till you cry, scuttle, or quit.
I say pitiful aproach and very much jerkish, the appropriate word would be censored.
We have 3 or 4 jerks in this forum who play to make others quit.
I cant say how pitiful and dumb this aproach is. It tells me you lack empathy and playfull aproach and make you look like a fool compensating on videogames bullying others because you feel better then.
Pitiful at best. Poor individuals who cry for love they lack and therefore bully others.
Dont meet me in real life i can become very much less empathic with "jerks".
Imho you should be banned forever if this is your aproach playing the game and contribute to the community.i guess 1500 for takin down a ship in adventure mode? and earthquakes are just in the devils roar,it wouldnt make the game better taking features out, i guess summits problem is ,it dosent work doin a shortcommand while earthquakes(sleep emote).he generated a hype around sot ,but that dosent will happen twice ;),and for me sot is more than just pvp in the adventure mode

No. I agree with Summit regarding rewards for Tall Tales. These are the first physical rewards that can't be stolen - which I find odd. But, they also designed Tall Tales to be done along other voyages - that's the way I try to do them.
There should be no reward for sinking ships. The game would devolve into a chaotic PvP deathmatch if you start giving rewards beyond potential loot.
Ghost ships don't spawn on people any more - you have to work pretty hard to get one to aggro on you. Earthquakes are fine - I just wish Skellies were affected as well.
Summit plays for stream content and not for the sake of the game. His bias isn't necessarily something devs should listen to when it comes to designing a game. If it's not his bag, it's not his bag.
I disagree that the stowaway approach isn't a valid way to play this game, you just have to know when it will work and when it won't.
Summit1G is a terrible source of feedback for Sea of Thieves. Anyone who thinks the game should accommodate PvP-only or PvE-only is a terrible source of feedback for this game.
I die laughing whenever someone says the game is dying.
Im kind of sick of people just blindly following popular streamers who supposedly "Popularised the game". Anyone who does this (I can make the assumption that) also thinks it is too hard to reach pirate legend... or complete Shores Of Gold. Also, I hope you understand that PvP is only about 40% of the game and the majority of players prefer Adventure to Arena mode so really I think they should improve their current content (adding content) instead of erasing content (deleting the content that they've already made just because of some bad ideas are really popular.)
@athena-fortune5 said in Can we listen to summit1g and make pvp equal to pve please!:
Once again... the public try to take control of games they play and then complain that the game is dying...
how about you just think about the suggestions before you say them?I would not say that the game is dead, but I can agree with the sentiment that the game has fewer players in Adventure mode than it did 6 months ago.
Why is that so and how do you fix it.
I checked into the guy because I was curious on what he had to say..
You're right, and I wasted my time listening to his crying.
Once upon a time when I was a young fella I would have thought a lot more like he does, but with age comes wisdom and a level of plain honesty that a young fella does not want to divulge because of his ulterior motives.
His cares are 3.
- Money
- Popularity
- Easy Mode PVP.
That 3rd reason is why he despises the Devils Roar and all the PVE content that can potentially throw a wrench in his PVP streaming.
I am by no means the best PVP guy ever, but from the looks of it Summit needs to GET GOOD BRO, and stop crying.
@chronodusk To be fair, Summit hasn’t called for PvP only. He recognizes the importance of PvE. His complaint regarding that specifically was that Tall Tales are PvE only... there’s nothing worth stealing. His other issue is with how players do Tall Tales. The Tales were designed so that people can do them alongside other voyages, but folks aren’t doing that. So, there’s no loot on many of these ships.
I enjoy doing the Tales alongside other voyages; but I enjoy the risk. I wish more played that way.
@nehpetz yeah probably good he's gone only problem is when big influencers thrown fits like that and start telling people how bad an item is it causes a lot of future opportunities to close people once interesred in sot because they found some old Vods of summit playing and then see him rage quit from the game forever will make them not buy it in most cases.
@conal-cuan
What are you doing mate?????
You are supposed to save those for the PVE and safe outpost threads.......
