I don't find anyone is scared at all of new changes. It is that people, most of the time, can see where these horrid changes can take us.
Think of the death tax, well I guess there is no more fun and experimental death attempts I can do without losing money. I cannot test to see if I can line of sight barrels at certain angles on peoples' ships or try new and weird things to take out enemies. So I am glad that went out the window.
For the 4 man Sloop, I do not think having 4 people on that small of a ship would be a good idea, 3 people is perfectly fine. But, even if they add 4 people to a sloop, that just means you can potentially aoe the entire crew more often with 1 cannonball than you could if they were on a galleon. There are ups and downs to it. I just think having a 4 man sloop ruins the galleon, sloops are way easily managed, can turn on a dime, can sink a galleon with np, so adding 2 more people to it just means that 1 of those 2 are going to constantly be trying to board people, which is dumb considering you won't lose much 'man power' on the sloop without a 4th, and even if he goes to board, you have a 3rd person able to repair while you have a dedicated captain controlling the helm and a dedicated cannon crewman.
So all in all, its not that people are scared, just thinking of scenarios that could potentially ruin the fun and balance of the game. Having the option to 4 man a sloop sounds cool, but you should be forced into a larger ship, but 3 man I could see as a valid option.
