After spending a long time playing Sea of Thieves, I’ve finally decided to leave the game – and honestly, it hurts. I’ve poured hundreds of hours into it, met amazing people, and had some unforgettable moments. But the current state of the game and Rare’s attitude have completely killed my motivation to keep playing.
Let’s start with the most important part – the toxic state of the game. Every update brings more bugs that never get fixed. The game is getting more broken with time. Hit registration is a disaster, you clearly land shots and nothing registers. Server lag is a daily issue, and for a multiplayer game from a multi-million dollar company, that’s unacceptable.
The anti-cheat system is basically non-existent. Cheaters are everywhere, ruining PvP, and Rare just lets it happen. The community has been begging for changes for years, but nothing happens. All we get is more cosmetics while core issues are completely ignored.
The game mechanics are also unbalanced – gun swapping is restricted, but you can quickswap sword into sniper freely and abuse the system with no punishment. It’s broken and discouraging.
Let’s not forget the FOV issue. The game claims it’s 90 FOV, but in reality, it looks way smaller. Even worse – you can easily change the FOV by editing game files, and many players do it. That gives them a clear PvP advantage over legit players who follow the rules. It’s totally unfair, and Rare turns a blind eye.
Another thing that really bothers me is the lack of a “no zoom” option on sniper. Many people would love to toggle sniper zoom off in settings if they prefer a cleaner view. It should be about player choice – but again, there’s no option.
And on top of that, we still don’t have private servers for training, even though the community has been asking for them for years. It would help both beginners and experienced players practice, train PvP, test strategies… but Rare continues to ignore this request.
I love Sea of Thieves for its concept and atmosphere. But the reality is – it’s turning into a frustrating and toxic experience. Unless Rare starts listening to its players and actually fixes the core problems, the game is going to slowly die out. For me, it’s already lost its fun – and that’s why I’m done.
