Rare has recently asked the community to refrain from sharing exploits and bugs within their game, but this approach seems problematic given their history. Rare has often been slow to address issues until they become widespread, which only fuels frustration among players. The risk now is that this will create a more insular community where these exploits are known but not shared, leading to further imbalances.
Rare has rarely, if ever, enforced bans for exploits. Consider past issues like the crud launch, silent boarding, and the ability to fast swap by tapping the shift key when switching weapons—these were left unchecked for far too long. While I fully support the idea of promoting fair play, Rare’s slow response to these issues—whether through hotfixes or temporarily shutting down servers—undermines their efforts. They often allow players to exploit these issues for weeks or even months before taking action, and there is seldom immediate communication about whether a fix or ban is forthcoming.
If Rare truly wants to curb the use of exploits, they need to take a more proactive approach. This includes thoroughly reviewing their code, acting quickly to resolve issues, taking responsibility for the game’s integrity, and enforcing penalties for those who abuse these exploits. Without these steps, their current approach is unlikely to yield the desired results.
