There should be a new option on the chat wheel for Xbox that allows you to type. Communication on xbox without a mic is very poor and only limited to the basics, and you have to be creative to say something more complex (and hope that your crew understands that saying "No" "I see a ship!" "No" means "the ship is not there anymore!"). Adding this custom chat option would solve all that. And it's such a simple change too, there's no bad side of it.

Oh, is that text chat using the xbox's digital keyboard or do you use an external one? I'm asking because i thought you had to connect a keyboard to your xbox to be able to chat
@typicalink500 on screen keyboard is what it opens. You can use your controller to pick the letters, the Xbox app on your mobile device(a lot faster than controller), chat pad if you have one, or a keyboard if you have one(does work on Xbox only servers but only once the text field is open).

@typicalink500 no worries, it’s in the settings. There’s a ton of settings for this game that people don’t notice.
