@skylerpk said in Cross platform is ruining Sea of Thieves:
I have played both platform and i have to urge the developers to remove cross platform.
I had both platforms before I had to get rid of the xbox a few months ago and so I urge the developers to do the complete opposite.
The setting that allows to choose Xbox players is there as a facade.
No its not
And to the people who say, just get good, i have played this game since day one sunk both types of players due to my tactics and critical thinking, but that will not help you much against a PC player and your only hope is that you get lucky and they make severe mistakes.
I have sunk PC players on my xbox, all of my crewmates that are on xbox also sink PC players no problem. Its all upto skill and capabilities. Be smart. What about the xbox players that say they have absolutely no problem against PC players? Does that mean you maybe aren't as good as you think you are?? Usually the case with most xbox players. Most xbox games aren't this brutal, when a player has skin in the game and lose, they will find any and all excuses to absolve themselves of their faults.
It's not just their use of mouse and keyboard, but it is way more extensive than that.
No it really isn't. On either counts.
Usage of SSD: up to half the loading times on xbox, meaning they will be able to tend to their ship faster than you can.
SSD's are not PC exclusive. They can be used on xbox as well, so this argument is automatically invalid.
Just like there are different versions of the xbox, there are different versions of PC's. PC is the one hardware that has massive disparities in capabilities. Most players don't have super computers with water cooling. They have potatoes that can barely run any game on mediocre settings.
So if you have a problem with hardware being faster, why aren't you complaining about the differences between xbox one original and the updated versions?
Special network cards: reducing latency to extents where they are more in sync with the server. I had missed important cannon shots because the server updates slow on exbox and as soon as my seemingly perfect cannon shot fires, the latency updates my game and i missed greatly, because the seas elevation decreases and inclgreases all the time, yet pc players have that update faster and more smoothly.
You really have no idea how networks do you? What about the network cards that xbox's have that turn them into time machines? I mean if you Press A and hold the start button and lick the controller, your xbox turns into a time machine. See I can make stuff up too.
144fps: this one is a no brainer. At that framerate, its easy to always stay behind your enemy and disorientate them. In certain cases you can skip out their view immediately. Your brain does not have to fill in the blanks like it does on 30 fps, thus you can be way more responsive and tactical with your movement and fighting.
This is really a no brainer. Framerates do no make you better at video games. They just don't. You aren't going to go from a 0.8kdr to a 3.0 kdr just because of framerates. The only players that framerates affect are PRO level players. If you were pro level then you wouldn't be making this post in the first place so I guess you aren't a pro.
No one here is going to be exceptionally better or even marginally better with better framerates. If you really want to complain about framerates then understand that unless a computer is REALLY high end, keeping a constant high frame rate is impossible. Xbox actually works better in this department because the framerates are always constant. Do you know how bad it is visually to have your game go from 80fps down to 20fps?? This happens frequently on PC but doesn't on xbox. So I guess xbox has a unfair advantage over PC.

PC players that say "get good" are just toxig by trying to keep these issues on the down low.
Honestly the worst types of players I've run into have always been on xbox. I've been pretty cordial when I'm on the mic. The second someone suspects I'm on PC they scream at my whole crew, who again by the way is on xbox, calling us racial slurs. How they have conquest with our maternal parental figures. ALL THE WHILE of me never leaving the boat. They are on PC by associations. Xbox players are the most toxic by far, at least all the ones I've run into have been pretty salty and vulgar.
Another problem is that people say that if they cut off crossplay it would alienate the PC community. Why?
Because it will. These arguments have proven that its not about fairness. The crossplay argument was always about the pure hatred and prejudice of the PC community. We tried to suggest work arounds or balance changes to the game (REASONABLE CHANGES) but the xbox community wasn't having it.
We'd suggest what if the opt out server was Input related and not hardware. As long as PC uses a controller its okay.
Nope. The xbox community kicked and screamed and made another list of demands. Unreasonable demands. Then some let it slip how they really feel about the community. Some called us a tumor that had to be cut out. Others suggested that we were a plague on the community. Others just outright said that they didn't want to play with PC regardless of anything period.
So if you really look at it, xbox community is the problem, not pc. We've tried to reach a middle ground but you guys weren't having it. We at least tried to keep the community together. You guys are the ones being toxic and selfish.
Well, its fun to win. They would be less incentivised to play against other PC players because it would be more work for the same level of gratification that until now, they've been pampered with.
Oh the "easy target" argument. I love how little you think of yourselves. This game is not an FPS. You learn as you go in this game. There are xbox players that completely disagree with you and also have been winning against PC players, even in Arena. So again I ask, how good do you think you are when other players are doing what you deem impossible to do?
I've seen xbox players complain about being sunk by a Galleon full of PC players but heres the thing, regardless of PC or Xbox, its dead-even when sailing the ship. There have been implications that somehow PC players make the ship go faster or are better at sailing the ships which is completely false.
Most complaints always start with "I got caught and sunk while playing solo, PC players sunk us, it was completely unfair, PC yada yada yada." Its always a solo player getting caught by a bigger ship. YOU GOT CAUGHT. Learn to play the game, stop being complacent, learn and get better at the game.
Why make more effort now, they would just find somethong else to play. It is definately not because there aren't enough PC players.
PC players are less than half of the games population. You have more chances to run into xbox players but apparently every single time you and other xbox players play, there are only EVER pc players am I right?
A voyage takes usually between 45 min to 2 hours to complete. Its not worth it if you have a high chance of sinking and on PC, while there is one, its not high. They would just go play something that can give them that gratification and only have to play 10 or 20 minutes.
Huh? What about xbox players getting the same gratification from spawn camping and trash talking?? Don't act all high and mighty, xbox players do it just as much if not more. The toxic players you are thinking of are mostly teens on xbox.
I love this game but i may find it not worth playing soon if this continues.
I also love this game, as do a lot of us, at least we try to fight to keep the community together because we actually do love this game.
The most valuable thing we have as people is time. And i thing because of these factors, a PC players time is rewarded greater than an Xbox player at this point.
I love the phrase but its a load of hogwash. If time was the most valuable thing people had we would use it better. We don't. We think we do for a day or 2 when we get that "I had an epiphany" but we all go back to wasting it on facebook, instagram, twitter, imgur.
So no a PC player is not rewarded greater. Xbox players can play, just learn how to play and stop playing the blame game and take responsibility. Try to figure out ways to keep the community together if you love the game so much.
At one point I thought of the game making players on PC stand still and ADS to have to fire our weapons. No more hip fire. Also suggested changes to meelee combat. Again none of you were having it. Framerates, SSD's, my grandmothers cookie recipe. Apparently we still had ALL OF THE ADVANTAGES.
Its not because I thought PC had some super advantages no, I wanted to find some changes that I could live with to keep the community together. I already play with a real life handicap, might as well play with an ingame one as well.
Again, on PC i have sunk endless xbox gallions solo on a sloop. Technical limitations would not allow me to do the same on xbox to PC gallions.
So you are bad on xbox thats good to know, because my crewmates again are all on xbox and have sunk countless galleons and have won over half of the arena matches. They have a win rate of over 60% and are xbox.
"But you are in their crew rabble rabble rabble" - Actually they play without me A LOT. They have almost double the amount of wins I do. So no I'm not the deciding factor.
So let me ask you again, how good do you really think you are vs how good you really are??
Quick note before i finish, i do not want private servers. That would ruin the idea of the game. Just remove crossplay. If you want to pool crossplay, do it with other consoles. Not PC.
No, don't remove cross play, keep the community together.
I'm sorry for any spelling mistakes. I do not have autocorrect on.
Stop trying to put xbox players on some higher pedestal. You guys trash talk as much as us, probably even more because the majority age range for xbox players are teens. We know how teens are on the internet so going with logic, xbox players are more toxic.
We could work to keep the community together. We could work to make things better overall for everyone and keep our community TOGETHER.
It's prejudices and hatred. Work with us not against us. Segregation is not the answer.
