  • I do hope they are working on new AI and mechanics for the game but I have to admit that I still enjoy these variations on the voyages. I like the speedrunning aspect of this month's update. And the stolen cargo commendations are welcome and have led to some interesting encounters.

I still find myself just sailing for hours on end because the game is just so d@mn immersive.

Looking forward to larger content drops later this year.

  • @sweltering-nick

Of course Nick, there’s no silver bullet that would make this the perfect game for everyone.

Many like the current PvP, many don’t. There’s no right or wrong, simply a finite player-base with differing preferences and a developer that has to choose how best to capitalise on it.

There is so much that could be done to make this a better game but I’m afraid that’s been the case for so long that for many, it’s too late. I agree, the gameplay isn’t rewarding enough to mask the grind.

Much of the game is excellent. If only we could see some positive steps rather than rehashed monthly events and the shop.

  • @dadiodude Yeah, but taking dumps on the monthly updates, which fyi are SUPPOSED to be repetitive... Is contradictory.

Criticize the content that is supposed to add NEW and VARIED content instead... You don't criticize mercenary voyages for being repetitive, because they're supposed to BE repetitive, you criticize the Tall Tales update for not being varied enough... See what i mean?

Withhold your critique, for the things that actually matter. Try to focus on what matters.

Complaining that mercenary voyages are repetitive, is like complaining that excrement smells bad... Completely redundant, i mean what did you expect the excrement to smell like? A bed of flowers?

The reason people are disappointed with the mercenary update, isn't because it's a monthly update that hasn't had enough time to develope into more substantial content... It's that people don't understand that, so their expectations are WILDLY desynced from reality. xD

Now, just out of curiosity, what do you mean by PvP not being good, specifically? I ask because, i want to know for future reference. :O

  • I agree whilst the monthly updates are very much welcome but rinse and repeat cargo voyages every month is getting stale quick. The focus should be on new monsters, new npcs, new mechanics, new ships, new areas, new tall tales each month, new weapons, shop where you can buy and sell goods like food, wood, bounty quests

  • @sweltering-nick Yea but atleast in dark relics they gave us reapers chest which was the best thing weve had in a long while. That was at least different and for me was the saving grace for this little monthly event thing they are doing.

Sure, that was a great addition to the game, but what else can they do on short notice? Every monthly can't have something new and fresh, creativity has limits, it can't be rushed, and it isn't in infinite supply.

Some dude first has to figure out an idea.

Then he has to make plans on how to execute said idea.

And then based on how this idea would be executed, send it to either the Monthly team, or the Major update team.

Expecting something new every month, is like expecting you to come home with a winning lottery ticket for 1000 USD every month.

Just be grateful that we, for once, got something awesome and permanent, in a monthly update...

  • @sweltering-nick there is so muvh that can be done. Tearing of sails, merchant brigs for us to fight and loot. Even the hunters call could have been better killing dangerous animals for pelts and such and bringing them in for rep.

Having one more part of the ship that breaks, having more kill X fetch back Y voyages, so much creativity indeed.

While Rare has been more consistent with updates all these updates are just copys of the basic voyages with only slight variation.

This whole event was just more mindless cargo out of these few months reapers chests seems to be the biggest highlight. Twist things up some maybe even do something that requires facing a new type of enemy. These rewash voyages we keep doing for dubloons and gold are getting dull. Theres next to nothing in the game to use currency on anymore as it is.

Very true! I have been saying the same thing for months now. Each cloned, recolored, renamed, event voyages for months have been this way. This month's event is the worse. No one cares. The servers all dull.

No one is doing them just no one cares about the reaper's chest anymore. Only few new items are now in the cash shop. Since the cash shop is finally here now, nothing is probably going to change or get better. Sea of Thieves has become stale and boring. So sad as there was fun in the past and full of potential that is constantly wasted.

  • @x-crowheart-x

That potential is still here. And the many, many active players of this game don't seem to agree on it being dull, stale and boring, in fact, they seem to be playing it as a sandbox game, like it's intended use, and enjoying the adventure instead of trying to enjoy voyages which were added solely as a feeling of slight progression and to get people to leave the outpost.

Merchants don't fight... skelly brigs though? i'm all for that.

However those arent exactly creative ideas, just expansions on already existing concepts ingame.

All of which take more than a month to properly implement in a game, meaning those will be released from the major update team, not the monthly team.

I rest my case, i suppose.
