That's a lot of sass coming from a little cauliflower. I'll have you know I only know two phrases of French, the other is, "Vule vu coucher avec moi." I'm pretty sure that can't apply here.

  • @darkgreedo It's a multiplayer cooperative game with a theme of piracy. No PvE, no arbitrary rules.

  • @DarkGreedo English isnt your first language, that's cool matey. Let's address what I think your not quite comprehending.

Adventure mode is not pve mode.
Adventure mode is not pvp mode.
Arena mode is not pvp mode.
Arena mode is not pve mode.

Now that's out of the way.

Adventure mode is a session based Shared World Adventure Game. This is a game that allows you ha e to have a wholly unique experience. Will they be friendly, hostile, somewhere in the middle? Will they run at first sight or make a stand? These are just two of the many interactions you can have with people. When you log onto an Adventure mode server you are signing up to do missions(should you accept them), just wander looking for wash up and shipwrecks, maybe looking to get frisky and run fort and ship events, or the bloodthirsty I SINK EVERYTHING. This is called PvPvE.

Arena is all of that in 24 minute intervals.

We do not need safe zones. We need pirates.

  • @viperishemu2992

The issue with Arena wasn't about only about the splitting of the community. It was how it would be viewed by players old and new. There are posts where players cry about being attacked and that if players want PvP they can just go to arena. We are having that fight everyday.

Next is that arena isnt exactly fun enough to split the community up. That was our fault for believing Arena would be fun. I've only played with players who are trying to get their commendations. I haven't met one single person that wants to play Arena just for sake of Arena. Everyone is only trying to get those 240 wins.

Which again is leading Rare down a very deep rabbit hole. They are too focused on commendation and finding fictional ways to prolong players play time. It's a bad mechanic and very boring.

It was proven with Athena commendations and the mercenary commendations. Not to mention the Arena commendations. 240 wins is just horribly excessive.

@Fozex You can't be griefed in this game. If you got spawn camped that means you did that willingly. Enemy players cant force you to spawn and they can't force your ship to stay afloat. Don't want to be spawn camped scuttle your boat.

You raise some good points about some questionable decisions that Rare have made.

I agree that Arena is far from perfect. Personally, I don't play it because of it's imbalance, repetitiveness and waiting times. Just my personal feelings about it. Obviously some people enjoy it? Suffice to say that everybody can agree that it "could be better."

I most probably wouldn't play a PvE (Explorer Mode) either. Even if it was put together better than Arena, for me the AI threat would never be as thrilling as real players are.

I just see it as a way for Rare to address what is a common (perhaps the most common) request from a lot of players. Personally I don't really care what mode people play. As long as there's 20 players online to fill an Adventure Mode sever I'm perfectly happy. I just think that a PvE mode would appeal to a certain element of the potential market.

@viperishemu2992 PvE servers would destory the game. If they came out, all the achievement oriented (PvE) players would go there, because it would be easier to progress. Because of dominant strategy, everyone except PvP players and noobertons would go ther. All the PvP players quit because their playstyle just got deleted. Meanwhile, the PvE players are finding the game has no risk or challenge outside of PvP players, so they quit too. The game is dead.

That's the kind of thing that people was saying about Arena before it came out. Rare have proven that they can bring out another Mode without harming the "Main Game". I have no reason to doubt that they could do that again.

The 3 main differences between Arena and PvE is that firstly, Arena is an addition to the main game, not an alternative. You can't progress Arena in Adventure, and vice-versa. Secondly, because it is not an alternative, there can be no game-wide dominant strategy. Finally, drawing some PvP players away from the main game has some benifit in the form of giving PvE players a bit of a break.

For the sake of clarity; I DO NOT think that a PvE mode should be a copy of Adventure. I would never suggest that Rare should create another Mode to compete directly with itself. That would be counter-productive.

I have always advocated that any PvE mode (Explorer) should be limited in progression and scale similar to the way Rare did Arena. Maybe have only one faction there? The Explorer Guild. It's own currency (copper).

Make the focus on Puzzels, environmental dangers and maybe some Tall Tales types of missions.

Personally I would rather have the casual "sight-seekers" and little kids out of Adventure Mode as well. The last thing I want to do is ruin someone's fun. I don't mind robbing people, it's a Pirate Game. But I prefer robbing people that would also be robbing me (if the shoe was on the other foot).

Arena Mode has it's faults. But at least the players who go there know that they can expect guaranteed PvP. Why not give the players who want guaranteed PvE an option to enjoy this beautiful game as well?

  • @darkgreedo arena is not a “pvp” gamemode its a competitive gamemode, you can win (and i have won on multiple occasions) without firing a single shot.

Adventure is not pvp and its also not pve its pvpve...

Ever since release people say this game its dieing however the stats are looking better and better each and every time...

  • @callmebackdraft Yeah i understand ! i play Darkfall for PVPVE only lol but, Sea of Thieves is different... need more player at this moment ! Just PVP, remove a very large part of the community that would like to play this game. Anaway, you go quickly change your mind when there has not been a player connect

  • @darkgreedo The best example is on Albion online! The games were on the verge of dying but, since they integrated the pve of the front, everything is going for the best.. including new players who turn to the pvepvp

  • @darkgreedo haha you are aware that xboxlive stats shows SoT is constantly in top 20 most played games every month with peaks every update...

  • @callmebackdraft Because have just 20 good game online for Xbox live... Why people crying for add option to remove crossplatforme for Adventure mode ? Because, there are not enough players, playing at this games
( PC-Xbox ). Yeah i love Sea, but this game needs a system Hostile and KICK system for Disrespectful player. Maybe, is my opinion

  • @darkgreedo this has nothing to do with online games, it is games played on xbox or goes trough xbox services (achievements and such)

It was last years 4th most played game above pubg, cod Black ops 4.

And still monthly in the top 20 next to games like Fortnite, pubg, RDR2, Forza motorsport and alot more.

  • The game is PvPvE as many have stated, honestly the game doesn't have enough in it to maintain a playerbase that's only here to play PvE. That's just a fact. So to make an entire mode for a loud minority of players that wouldn't actually stay and keep the game going anyway really is nothing but a loss for them as a company. They've put a ton of ways to avoid griefing/trolling in the game (map awareness and ship scuttling as the primary methods). The best part of solo slooping is that it's hard mode, so as long as you don't look at every loss as being the fault of the game, but rather as a growing experience, you can get ungodly powerful in this game by soloing. Many of the best PvP players are those who spent the first few months solo slooping and fighting back against larger ships. Nothing feels better than sinking a galleon all by yourself. It's not easy, but oh is it worth it. The game is meant to always have the potential of PvP combat. That's been made clear from day one. Being upset about that is like getting mad that Minecraft makes you break things for supplies to build, or Halo enemies shoot back at you, or that you have to level up to fight stronger enemies in WoW. It's a core aspect, that's why there are theft related commendations and even the Alliance system will always allow you to, as rare said, betray others and take the loot for yourself.
