I am considering publicly setting a challenge. By which I will achieve a total of 100 Million on Gold in one year exactly. I will start from under 1000.
Do you think there would be much interest in a challenge such as this if it were accompanies with updates and worthwhile highlights.
It would kind of be a show of utter love and dedication for Sea of Thieves.

It would be a tedious grind fest. But best of luck to you if you wish to persue this endeavor.
You’re looking at getting at least 274,000 gold a day for a year. That’s everyday... so figuring in days you don’t play or days that you don’t hit that mark means much harder days ahead. Also, if word gets out that you’re hard core working on bringing in treasure you might become a bit of a target if people see you out on the seas.
It’s an idea and a task and a half. If you do go for it good luck to you!

Dear MisterPles...i don't doubt you love playing Sea of Thieves but what you are planning to do will....burn your love up...Your game experience will be narrowed by purely raising money, which will reduce you to conquer Fortress after Fortress after Fortress ...The timepressure to gain 100 million will drive you crazy at a time...
The best way to show your Love for this game is simply play the "full" game , not dissect it in parts in which moneygrinding is the perfect path to become bored , burned up and make you runaway to other games never to return to SOT...
Please Sir , take this advice , i am the simplest Pirate of them all, still can't tie my own shoelaces but when it comes to this game i have a golden advice. Play the Full game , don't dissect , don't put up goals ...Just play with the Mood of the day , with the Pirates you meet that day and try to have and bring fun to others ...THAT, Sir is worth more than 100 Million Goldpieces...

I'm pretty sure there are people who already have around 500m gold or more. Not kidding. There have been players who earned everything in the game like 6 months after release and have continued to play this game and steadily make money. They are probably already sitting on an enormous amount of gold that they will never go through.
@xultanis-dragon I think there would be some exceedingly rich pirates, but not close to 500m... That would mean nearly 1mill a day since release...

That would have been difficult in the first half of the games release, but not since the Shrouded Expansion that came out in December.
You can make a 1mill or even 3 to 4 in a day. Its really not that hard. Trust me, I think someone was already sitting around 50 mill this time last year, given the amount of time that has passed and again the fact that gold is so easy to get now. You'd be surprised.
@xultanis-dragon I don’t want to be pedantic. But 500 million since the game came out would be 909 thousand gold a day... every single day for the last year and half.
Or let’s call it 38,000 an hour every hour for around about 13,000 (give or take) hours. Again for a full year and a half.
I don’t think your math is quit there bud.
There’s lost of people in the millions, most I’ve herd of is 15 or so. And yes getting gold is ALOT easier now, but it’s only been this easy for the last few months. Back when then game came out we’d have to server hope and fight people off for skull forts that would maybe payout 15k.

Last few months?? You do know forts were changed back in December and it was during the Shourded Expansion where players started to get crazy amounts of loot. That was 9 months ago.
I have a friend that can play the game WHILE he is working. The type of job he does allows him to do that and he plays 12 hours a day or more.
Also forgetting those PvE servers where players are just turning in loot left and right. If you are going to use Math to dictate the numbers then use the correct variables.
Trust me, There is already players with 100m probably and possibly even close to 500m.

By your own account you have a friend that’s able to play 12 hours a day right? So let’s say he’s played 12 hours a day every single day for the last year and a half. So a year and half is 547 days at 12 hours a day is 6,564 hours total. For your friend to hit 500 million he’d have to make just over 77,000 gold every hour of play time for a full year and half. Never missing a single day.
Yes they did change the Skull Forts in December. So let’s say he does this since December. Let’s call it 255 days for seven and half months. He’d have to get 1.9 million a day to hit 500 million. Or 38 forts a day at 50k a fort, or one fort every let’s say 37 minutes or so. BUT! you say he plays 12 hours a day. So now we have to divide our fort time to every 16 minutes. They don’t spawn fast enough for this to even be possible any way to split it.
Let’s say he’s been doing this since day one. We all know Skull Forts have the highest payout to time ratio right? And a fort gives out, tops 50k, if that (now, not always.) That would be 10,000 forts. Or one fort every every hour and half every day for a year and a half non stop. Not including time to turn in or time to fight people off or even time that the game it’s self is down for maintenance.
Yes, alliances are a thing, but they haven’t always been. But let’s say four gallons all playing in an alliance making 50,000 an hour each or 200,000 an hour total. That would give one person 125,000 an hour. It would still take them 4,000 hours of total play time to hit 500 million gold. Or 167 days of non stop full server alliance.
With all that said. I find it INCREDIBLE unlikely, nay impossible that any player has 500 million. Which is your original statement is it not? That there are players with 500 million gold OR MORE.
I did not however say that 100 million was impossible. Doable probably, but also some what unlikely.
So even with the variables that you monotone that have NOT been in the game for a full year and a half. It’s just not possible.
But hey, if I’m wrong, someone please let know...if you have played enough to hit 500 million gold good on you for sure! But maybe uh take a shower, eat something, call your mom, it’s a been a long year and a half. Lolol
@oroku I'm not sure forts are the most profitable. If I were to try and hit this goal I think an alliance fishing server would be the best bet.
Hear me out. 6 Galleons, 24 people fishing/cooking so 3 to 1 on each boat. Every boat surrounding the active fort. Cooked jade battlegills are like 500ish a catch. once you get going you could be doing 2500 to 5000 a minute with that. not to mention rarer/bigger fish. The trophy sand battlegill is worth 14k.
bait is easy enough to dig up. I think the galley I joined the other day made 50k on 45 min on our own.
The methods I've mentioned have been in the game for over 9 months. 100m is very likely and 500m is still probable.
Should I mention the guy who was the first pirate legend who became a pirate legend in less than a month? If you try to discredit it by saying "OH well he had other people just giving him loot" yeah thats the point. You are saying that math make it impossible while I'm saying that math doesn't take into account a whole lot of other factors. I've played in sessions where I made close to a 1m in a session and others where I made only 20k.
On a Galleon I've made 20k off the Kraken before. Thats about 10mins right there for 20k. The meg has also dropped 5k or more before and thats about 5mins right there.
Then theres looting and robbing other people who already have hours of work on their boat.
Again whatever you think is unlikely has no bearing on the gaming community.
Alliance have been around since Cursed Sails which was also a year ago.
My whole point is that there definitely players with 100m or more and probably even players close to 500m.
Whatever you want to think is up to you. I just know the gaming community.
