Hi there.
I'm Beardedlemming5. Like the rest of you, I'm an avid Sea Of Thieves fan. Right now, I'm talking about something that'should been in the game since the start. The vote system.
"Vote to propose voyage," "Vote to cancel voyage." That one. Specifically the latter.
I, and most definitely others, have encountered trolls in the Sea Of Thieves. And like the rest of you, I absolutely hate them.
Allow me to explain. Today, in fact only about 20 minutes ago, I encountered two. I was doing the first Tall Tales and had only discovered the Ancient Chest.
As we begin sailing towards Crook's Hollow, the two bring the Ancient Chest into the voting table. Now for a note, it was only the 3 of us. Anyways, the two of them decide to go one step further. For the past hour, they were raising and lowering the anchor. Annoying, I know.
But because of the voting system, which has Majority for cancelling voyages, 2 of 3 votes are required to cancel a voyage or Tall Tales.
And they did that.
I went livid and left.
Trolls like these two shouldn't be allowed to abuse in game mechanics like this and I believe that the majority vote should be removed from the game. If you want to cancel a voyage, let it be 3 votes of 3. Or 4 votes of 4. Thanks for reading.
Remove majority vote to cancel.
@weakdexx Closed crew on a galleon is not ideal, really. None of my friends were online at the time, and 3 other players are more useful when dealing with say, another, bigger ship.
I would go for solo sloop or brig.
But if u want to galleon it. Yes solo is not the way. Opening your crew sadly leaves the oppertunity for trolls.Nummer it had to happen in the way it did. Better luck next time matey
Why do a tall tale on an open galleon?
I can understand that if in an open crew the rest of the crew want to do something else they are alowed to.
I would hate to roll into an open crew amd being forced to do a tall tale only because one guy wants to. It gives no rep. Barely any gold and after doing them all 7 times they have become rather boring.Sure people should communicate before voting but i've heard nothing about communication from both sides, so yeah.
Sorry to hear that happened to you. It is very aggregating to have those types of people but you did make some mistakes.
You used an open crew. I saw that you mentioned your friends werent online but you can still use the discord app or the LFG posts in the Xbox app. It's really easy to find players to play with in this game.
Bit of advice for the future as well. If and when this happens again, take screenshots of the player names and record a clip of what is going on. Then report the players to Xbox and to Rare.
It's open season all year every year against trolls like these. The only way to keep the trolling down is to limit their numbers. If you need help setting up your hardware for "record that clip" ask around.
Contrary to popular belief this game is very friendly. Dont hesitate to even ask on the forums about forming another crew.
May the lady of the seas bless you will full billowed sails on your journey!
The only thing about majority voted that I dont understand at all is trying to brig someone on the sloop. It doesn't work at all, and my friend last night asked me to brig him cuz he was gonna go do something and come back, only to fund out the brigging on the sloop doesn't work with out being able to select your own name in the select menu page to vote upon. What's with that Rare?
Majority rule should stay in effect not a full crew vote. Look at it from a different way, you have one member who refuses to help the crew in zero capacity. This includes ship maintenance to helping with the voyage. Without his input you can't do anything. Him afk-ing puts a block on a lot. Majority rule helps deal with one off trolls, which is more common then a group queued together.
Otherwise to directly respond to your story, welcome to a democracy. You got outvoted, could it have been for malicious reasons? Maybe, but it also might be that they simply didn't want to do a tall tale, and you just got outvoted. Don't want to cooperate with randoms? Go closed crew, that's what the option is for.
xXFortnite_MasterXx has joined the crew
5 minutes later
Tale failed, Shroudbreaker gem lost
Allowing for crews to elect a captain as described here would also work. (Although two griefers joining a solo sailor could depose the original captain in my scheme).
It does sound like the OP gave these trolls too much of his time. He would have better to quit sooner. I don’t think this would happen all that often; and if he just started over on a new server, he might have just as easily been joined by excellent crew mates and new friends.

Closed crew is actually the ideal choice for all ship types, you only invite players you know are not trolls, and you have yourself a good crew.
Open crews atm is unplayable, completely unplayable. xD
