Hull Cosmetic Suggestion

    Ahoy Mates!
    Ever notice how some Ship Hull Cosmetics paint way more than just the hull?
    Take the Morning Star Hull for example:
    Morningstar

    It paints the Helm, Masts, Harpoons, Capstan and Cannons all red.

    Where as the Scury Bilge Rat hull just leaves everything the Sailor colors:
    Scury Bilge Rat
    This is also the case for the Sea Dog, Admiral, Shark Hunter, Forsaken Ashes, Sovereign and Pirate Legend hulls.
    They leave the masts, cannons, helm etc the Sailor colors.

    Where as the Mercenary, Hunter, Spartan, Ghost, Golden Legendary, Kraken and Ocean Crawler Hulls all paint the masts, cannons, helm etc specialized colors.

    Now, I believe this is a bit of problem, as it makes certain Hull Cosmetics unfairly more desirable over others.

    What I'd like to see is Rare revisit the older Hull cosmetics and give them colors for their Helms, Masts, Cannons etc.

    Anyways mates, what do you think of this suggestion of mine, would ya like Rare to revisit the older hull cosmetics?

    I don't see why not. I've noticed this myself. There must've been some advance they made on the game's development which allowed them to paint more than just the hull, and the old skins have remained outdated. They should be able to 'remaster' these skins pretty easily I think.

    @theassassinoath aye, remastered is a good word for it.
    Apparently, the first new hull Cosmetic to have this feature was the Hunter Hull way back in Cursed Sails.

    Also, quick question: Are all of the 'full' color liveries more expensive to buy? I know the Kraken one costs about 69k in gold, compared to the others which are 49k. This might explain why it has more color than the less expensive types.

    No, they're more expensive because they used to be the challenging ones in the roar.

    @sgt-palooggoo Ahoy there! I also noticed this, some time ago, but only with the morningstar hull and thought it is a visual bug. I didn't mind it because it had something more than the others but since there are more hulls that apply color to the wheel cannons etc. it's nice that you posted about them, for more people to know!

    I don't see why not? I've thought about this very thing myself...

    Fun fact: If you change your cannons/capstan/helm from default to something else and back again after changing the hull, they will revert to the default color and not retain the color of the hull until the hull is removed and reapplied.

    I noticed the other day that if you apply a hull that colors the masts and then change it out for one that doesn't it keeps the mast color from the first one. So that opens up for some mixing and matching on the ship cosmetics.

    Specifically I checked out the spartan set before applying my usual ashen hull, and didn't notice it still had a green mast until I had left the outpost. I was pretty annoyed. :P

    On this basics I could apply the Morningstar then the ceremonial admiral and have red mast and cannon stands and wheel, wow I think I might have the perfect ship now!

    I think that tactic might only work for the Forsaken Ashes hull.

    Agreed! Older designs should be updated to fit their current standards.

    I remember the first two sets that recolored the deck, mast, etc.. were Bonecrusher and the Ghost Hull. Both of which were added in Cursed Sails.

    They should go back and make the pre-Cursed Sails stuff more visually appealing too!
