Came across 3 hackers on arena

  • Just thought I'd post
I spawned in game New match from start go to raise anchor with crew get killed with crew by three players within the first minute of the game starting
After a few spawn kills scuttle ship and a few minutes later one of them spawns on my ship thankfully a new player joins and kills him

But this happened for two straight rounds the nationaly of the hackers appeared to be as the names were an appearance of Chinese words
    Be wary Out there

  • @the-tonkinese dont think I can explain them spawning on your ship part but you can shoot out of the cannons right in the beginning of each round and depending on how close everyone is at start I'm sure you could shoot yourself to another ship within the first minute of the match. But the spawning on ship may indicate them hacking as well.

  • @xix-zeno-xix there ship was the opposite side on the map

  • @the-tonkinese okay well then that is definitely cheating in my book lol

  • @the-tonkinese I have ran into a few of the same things you're describing in arena as well cross play opt out can't come quick enough

As a PC player how will the opt out crossplay option solve the cheating problem?

  • @squaz05 it won't cheats are both systems

  • @squaz05 pc is easier to hack xbox us usually not possible in the new systems I play in both systems and game files are easy access in pc not in xbox

  • @the-tonkinese cheats are easier to access on pc you actually have to modify hardware to hack on an xbox so less people are less likely to even do it.

As a PC player, you chose to play on the system that has a very small population of cheaters, that's your choice.

As an Xbox One player, I chose to play on the system where cheaters are a tiny tiny almost non existent population, that's my choice.

Once the opt-out is available, everyone can play with the level of cheating they subscribed to :)

Apart from that, everyone can record and report both platforms.

DISCLAIMER: To the best of my knowledge, i have never seen a cheater in SoT.

  • @pomalotacusmk3 I have only seen one crew cheating in my probably 2000 hours of playing and that was in arena

  • @pomalotacusmk3 there are hacks you won't even see there is a hack now on pc where it shows where you can see the chests in the ground for the x's I joined a guy from lfg and he was bragging about the hack so I just left the party it is time for opt out of crossplay. What is taking so long

  • @fast-bike94 not going to enter details but no you are rather wrong there it is simple and not very complex

  • @sshteeve certainly did

  • @fast-bike94 i have come across less than a dozen but more than a few
and those people got reported mostly in the main game mode though but 3 hacker scenarios since arena launch all three were chinese related but they still never come first
    ever

So it's ok to leave PCs without a solution to cheaters because it's the system I chose... As long as Xbox players are ok who cares what happens to the PC players... Am I getting this right? If it is... That's quite a selfish attitude.

Well I don't think pc players should be left out but we Xbox players pay a fee for Xbox live. So I think that we deserve it more considering to play on pc it's free, we deserve a quality of service it's part of what we pay for

So I just read the features of what you pay for, it says nothing about a closed cheater/hacker free Network. Lots of discounts, free games, and access to multiplayer.

About that access to multiplayer, most games nowadays require online to pay, MS is charging you for something that shouldn't be charged. It's like having to pay to breathe internet air. This was ok back in 2008, but not in 2019.

In fact I've read that eventually the Xbox will remove the online play from the subscription and will allow everyone to access their multiplayer... The sub will be for social perks, free games and discounts only.

    aye

  • @squaz05
I'll try to keep it simple. Opt-out fixes the cheat problem for potentially 65% of the playerbase. Feel free to suggest anything that will help the other 35%.

The 35% have had cheating problems for years. I'm trying to think of an X game that suffered from cheats...im struggling.

Just because a permanent cheat solution is not available on PC, you begrudge Xbox players taking a solution? THAT is selfish.

what is selfish is that the only solution you guys come up with is only good for you. While PC player's solutions (which have been listed many times but completely ignored, skipped or dismissed by the xbox community) involve solving or reducing it significantly for both our platforms.

  • Sounds like they cannoned over to your ship and tucked on islands.
It's called being a sneaky player.

Teleport hacking isn't doable in sot as 90% of the game is serversided.

  • @the-tonkinese yeah the cheaters I ran across wouldn't sink and we had 2 ships hitting bottom deck and middle deck holes on them they also only won by like 200 pts they were terrible at actually playing arena

  • @fast-bike94

To me that doesn't really sound like cheating, its quite possible to sustain a two ship barrage. I also question cheating in that specific scenario, because for my understanding on how cheats function, they can't effect server-side functions. So something happening specifically to the ship seems beyond what a hack could manipulate. Usually cheats only manipulate things on the characters end, examples include aimbot and walling.

Thats cool, then support the ideas that will significantly reduce the problem...but dont begrudge an even more significant reduction just because you wont benefit. Selfish.

If you worked in customer service, and found a way to improve 65% of your customers' shopping experience, would you throw away the idea because 35% wouldn't notice a difference in service? No.

There are plenty of cheats that use man-in-the-middle attacks to intercept data packets between the console and the internet. Once you do that, the more tame ones will provide ESP style cheats by showing you the location of players, ammo, and locations of items. I won't name them, but PUBG is a big target due to its popularity.

Because the cheat actually runs on separate hardware, its not easily detectable either.

  • @fast-bike94 Again..lets put down PC players..even though 99% of us are decent players and good people..but that is ok..xbox players need someone to blame..guess that is why we are here.

  • I play on Xbox and yesterday on Arena mode, during a battle, when I was killed by cannon fire, I also respawned on an enemy's ship. At first I never noticed this and started with repairs, duh! But once I went up to the top deck I noticed the colour of the ship was wrong and then was swiftly killed and sent back to my own ship.
Something else that happened a few days earlier: I was swimming to board another ship when I was suddenly inside the bottom level, best glitch ever, they were guarding ladders so dropping the anchor was easy.
So, were these hackers you encountered or just SOT being a little glitchy? Strange things do happen sometime s and the player has no control over it.

  • @nabberwar that was just one of the things there definitely was someone aimboting and using an esp

  • @nabberwar also they only had 2 people bucketing the boat two watch ladder they had every third deck hole open and I'm sure hit more than a few times and still did not sink that isnt even possible

  • @needsmokes this could be it but I imagine there is something people are taking advantage of to have that happen often I had a guy in adventure mode spawn next to my driver while I was staring at him he just appeared and blundered my driver strangest thing I've seen
