Needless to say this should be a basic feature, but you must implement a reconnect option for Solo players as well. The most frustrating thing in a game like this when you lose hours of progress due to some measly "connection lost to the server" or a random crash.
Pls Rare! So basic stuff. Thank you!
Reconnect option for Solo players!

getting attacked? OOPS I "accidently" pulled my ethernet cable out... wait for the attackers to leave and log back in... carry on.
@natiredgals do you really feel the need to derail this topic, how does this have anything to do with crossplay.
@M4rafett-0 this is something that has been discussed before but i think that the implementation would have a lot of work involved with it, not to mention the questions that surround the fact of how this could be abused, what happens to your ship when you disconnect ? Etc. Not opposed to this but harder then it might seem
@callmebackdraft Its not derailing at all if you dont get upset and @ me over it.
It'll be obvious what relevance it has to everyone waiting for it, and I wager those who aren't couldn't guess in 5 tries.
Let's not risk further derailment and leave it at that.
I do personally like how currently when the last person on a crew disco's from the game the ship is scuttled but if they were to implement something like what the OP is asking for then what happens after that. Does the ship magically appear in the same spot or is it moved? I also can see how this is abused.......oh no a skelly ship or kraken spawned, time to disco and reconnect and those ai threats will be gone.

Easy to avoid abuse.
If you disconnect, your anchor drops, and your ship/loot is still vulnerable in-game, and is re-joinable for...i dont know, 5 minutes? All enemy pirates and AI threats can still sink ya.Is this still abusable? I hope not, cause solo sloop would be great if i could use the bathroom without having to count :)
@m4rafett-0 i agree, my game constantly crashes and i always lose my loot. a good way to prevent people from abusing it in combat? simply have the ship stick around for a minute after dc before despawning. if the ship was in combat, it will likely sink in a minute with no repairs and be gone. but for those, like me, who are just going about their merry way and crash, after that minute with my ship still afloat, i should be able to load back on to it
@eternityavenged
Make it so that your anchor drops as the player disconnects, to avoid red sea, island collision, or spawning a meg etc. Make the timer 5 minutes instead of 1 minute. Because a modem can easily take 2 or 3 minutes after a blackout, plus an xbox can take 2 minutes to get to the 'press any key to start' menu. In fact, as long as the ship is anchored, visible and vulnerable, maybe even a 9 or 10 minute timer would be OK.If the player actually quits or leaves the game, the ship scuttles just like it does atm.
Im not sure how server merges should function in this scenario, as you might get merged as soon as you spawn, even though you were intentionally sailing a low pop server...
I agree with most of the suggetions. A 5 minutes window for a reconnect would be awesome and the dropping anchor is also a viable option imo.
I don't see how you can really abuse this to be honest. Obviously your ship should be still voulnerable for every actual AI threats, not to mention all your stuff is pretty much free loot if you DC'd from the game.
Playing solo itself could throw you a few pretty tough curveballs, every single aspect of the game has designed to be easier in a group, so these technical difficulties really shouldn't top all this. So many of us sailing alone.
I don't see into the technicalities of an implementation like this but I think this feature should be an absolute priority.@m4rafett-0 said in Reconnect option for Solo players!:

Pls Rare! So basic stuff. Thank you!So basically, don't solo sloop, bring a second boy with you, and then you actually CAN reconnect if you disconnect, via your second boy. Problem Solved!
Easy fix.
Allow the ship to stay afloat as a placeholder for about 5 minutes. In that time the ship is vulnerable to all attacks, players, AI or environment. If the game detects a disconnect that wasn't an exit or leave game through the menu it would allow the player to rejoin the last known server (the ship persisting on the server makes sure there is room. If the timer is up the ship scuttles and your chance is lost. If you make it back there is a 10 minute cooldown to perform this again.
If you "leave game" or exit through the menu you cannot rejoin the server.
eh... that can be abused...
getting attacked? OOPS I "accidently" pulled my ethernet cable out... wait for the attackers to leave and log back in... carry on.The way this has been proposed before is that if you suddenly vanish (and not if you chose a Quit option); is that your ship will be keep alive for a short time, such as five minutes or so; able to be rejoined. Perhaps the anchor is dropped automatically to prevent sailing into some rocks or something; but otherwise your ship is at the mercy of the elements, emergent threats, and other pirates. It may be sunk, or looted while you hasten to get back online. Thus, you may rejoin the ship after four minutes, finding it respawned far from where you were, and without all of your goodies.
This answers your fear of abuse.
So often, however, you may be disconnected when not under attack or in any danger. It should be possible to at least have a chance of getting back into the game, and carrying on from where you were.

Not at all an issue. All they'd need to do is keep the ship in-game for 5-10 mins before it scuttles. So if you tried what you're suggesting you're just leaving it wide open for them to attack.
Sure people would complain about "but I DCed while fighting the kraken and meg with 15 athenas chest on board, plz reimburse", but you can't please everyone.

The devs said in an interview that the feature is already been in insider for testing. (Yes I'm an insider, can't say anything about it).

This is coming in today's update!
Nobody has confirmed this yet (At least from what I have seen). The only thing devs said that it was in insiders. But as you know, we both can't talk about tha.
