4K/2K/1080p

  • On Xbox One X, we actually had tout play the game in 4K, with high framerate's instability and basical low framerate.
Please, add 4K/2K/1080p option and let players chose themselves beetween high resolution or high framerate.

  • @darkiy0 Or they can just optimize it so it runs at 4K 60fps...

  • @darkiy0 When i first started up my Xbox One X i got a choice between 4k and 1080p mode.

I believe you already have a choice. :o

  • I Guess Xbox One X isnt powerfull enough for 4K/60Fps
And no, we don't have the choice. Xbox One X is forcing 4K in every point. Even when your TV isnt 4K, One X is upscalling to enhance resolution.
I wonder Rare add this option, cuz we already have the choice in many other games.

  • @sweltering-nick
Well, i have that was my mistake. Yes, we have the choice in Xbox Options and parameters. Well, yes we can chose beetween 4K/1080p/720p and uncheck the option who force Xbox running games at 4K.
So, i try it on sea of thieves ans i have to tell 1080p run smoother than 4K.
Idk why, i was pretty sure about that Xbox One X is forcing players to run games in 4K. But, it's not the case.
So, for sure, it still suck. Rare should add the option natively in game. Because it's boring that i have to go in my Xbox parameters every times i change my games run. (For exemple, i like to use 4K in solo games, but in multiplayer games, it's absolutely trash).
    Cya everyone !

  • @darkiy0 Have a good one! :)

  • I think 60fps is a bad idea. Original Xbox and 'minimum spec' pc would not be able to hit 60fps without making SoT look like a 360 game. Offering 60fps to only some of the playerbase would just cause more division. Cap everyone at 30fps, at least in the Xbox servers.

Nope. That's the output mode to the tv. The game will still render at 4k but then be supersampled to 1080 w/o any performance gains.

  • @darkiy0

You were right, even if you set the output mode for the X to 1080, the game still runs at 4k, then its supersampled to 1080 in the output from the X to the tv.

It actually makes for a better 1080 image quality than you'd get without it on a 1080 tv as the supersampling is like a free extra layer of anti-aliasing.

  • I’m always a bit confused by these posts. I’ve been running the game on an Xbox One X and a higher-end 4K tv from day one, and have never once noticed a frame rate issue. I wonder how much the tv in question and any other equipment in the mix (like a receiver) might be affecting things.

Then again, I am old enough to remember 8-bit games and single-digit frame rates, so maybe I am just thankful for what we have these days. :P

  • Oh, and it would be nice if it were a setting in the Xbox UI where you can tell it “always render game A in 1080” and “always render game B in 4K”. Just a checkbox on their side, so game developers don’t even have to worry about it, just implement some supplied code.

Some people I think are more sensitive to it than most. Largely my X holds 30fp pretty well, but it'd be nice if I could chose like I can on my laptop to play the game in 60 by making sacrifices in visuals.

I’m sure you are right, there. Plus, though it pains me a bit to say it, it might be somewhat age-related as well. :P

  • @arsigi actually, like said other people here, maybe some people are more sensitive to low framerate/drops/input lag.
And more than this, when you take the habit to play at 60fps constantly without any drop on computer (or even way more for monster's computer), low framerate becomes absolutely trash for people like me.
I don't know exactly what's trash for my brain and my eyes. Is it framerate drops, or basical low (30) fps or even input lag.

Anyway, i swear i'm not gonna go back to this Xbox Version and i'll stay on computer RN ! XD
