I am disappointed that variety is something this game lacks. Finally a curse is brought to the game making people look differently. Now after update, everyone looks the same. My curse was actually better looking before update. Now I understand that being able to stand out and being unique is out of the question when it comes to sea of thieves.
Every Curse Looks the Same!?!
@judsn same here I loved how it wasn't on my hands before.
I am very disappointed
we might as well just run around with ZERO cosmetics because apparently RARE just want everyone to always look the same!I'm just going to chime in and say that I got completely screwed on my gold curse PRIOR to this update.
I've looked at the new design and I am personally happy with it because I feel like I now have a reward that accurately reflects the time I put into achieving it.
I am very happy about this and Rare did the right thing by fixing it for those of us who were getting screwed. It should have never been up to RNG.
I hope they can explore giving options in the future for other styles so that people who liked their previous curse can enjoy that one.
But eliminating the RNG factor was really important and necessary here.
@chronodusk
Rng is something that can make a game beautiful. Sorry that you didn’t like the cards you were dealt. The curse you had could of looked good from someone else’s perspective.@algaram said in Every Curse Looks the Same!?!:

Have they released the Ferryman set to the public yet?

The curse you had could of looked good from someone else’s perspective.I shouldn't just be expected to be okay with the cards I was dealt when there was something objectively unfair about the way this curse was being awarded to players, especially when that unfairness was even recognized by the developer. Rare has done the right thing. It will be even better if they allow options in the future.
I doubt this looked good from any perspective. Say what you want, but I got completely screwed. Some people were getting much better curses than others. There's nothing you can say that would ever justify RNG curses when there's no consistency in terms of the overall quality.
Just look at the one I got pre-update.
@Chronodusk
whats wrong with that curse honestly, looked cool.I am still patching, but i think Rare can keep its gold curse now, i wont equip it anymore if my hands are both golden this would be ugly and annying as hell, when you use stuff.
@chronodusk sometimes less is better. I would've enjoyed anything that made me stand out different than the rest of the crowd. I already run around with no titles as it is and I guess I'll just run around naked just to be different.
@chronodusk
Are you kidding me. Not all your fingers are gold. That is so unique!! I would of loved your curse. There goes to show that one mans trash is another mans treasure.I'm not opposed to allowing for options at all, all I'm saying is that it should have never been allocated through RNG.

imho RNG is ok when they would give us a way to try as long as we find something we like.
I think a lot more people wont wear it now, because they loved their individual look way more.
I am not sure how much they screwed it up more now.
@chronodusk the RNG is why I grinded and wanted it so bad (to be unique) I was so happy and anxious when equipping it for the first time!
now players getting it will not get that feeling because everyone is the same
IMO we need more rng cosmetics in this game as it is!
there is zero progression and all cosmetic based without the ability to look different from other players. ----that's a problem all in itself
this was the one and only thing that made us different and RARE took it back.
@bugaboo-bill
Options would be nice for sure. I'm not saying anyone is wrong for wanting to be unique at all, and I hope they'll explore giving options since the other presets already exist.
The problem with RNG in this case is that there was absolutely no consistency in how good of a curse people were getting. It was a roll of the dice, and it wasn't fair.
Yes but a single roll of the dice that leaves you stuck with a poor design if you happen to get one?
Maybe it would have been better if it was different every time you applied it and you didn't have to be stuck with a single awful design like the one I got.
@chronodusk I'm sorry you didn't like what you got in the roll and I understand that but now I won't even wear mine when I earn it because it has now become worthless to me in my opinion. We already deal with RNG constantly for our gold earnings and rep plus the supplies in barrels so ......... I don't know.😔
I'm not saying there shouldn't be more ways to be unique.
But RNG designs with no standard of quality is so unfair.

sure - they needed just to add a reroll option, but now they screwed it up for all who were lucky with their curse.
Its the one thing to not reward properly, but to reward someone and then take it away, because others had bad luck or were unhappy, because of their personal taste is very much uncool and a bad way to treat your customers.
Thats like, sorry we have to take this away from you because some others didnt like what they got.
Whaaaaat?
they also could implement something like all who are disappointed get a new curse and all who want to keep theirs can stick to it.
But question aside. Are you happy now with your curse, do you wear it now and feel good?
I cant help myself, even if i were disappointed with mine, i wouldnt have asked for a change and take that away from others who were satisfied and happy. Not saying you did!
This solution is the badest solution i ever can imagine.
I bet a lot of the players who were disappointed are still disappointed. And to know everybody gets the same curse when it was unique before is a huge disappointment to me.
Regardless of beegin happy before or not.I got something that was rng but reflecting somehow my journey.
I told myself i got it this way because of this and that.
And yes it could have looked better, cooler. I got 2 slices over my stomach and not that fancy thing on my chest.
My crewmate got a way cooler facegold than me, but mine was cool too, not that cool as his one, but unique and cool to me.If i imagine we now run all the same curse in the crew i will immediatly unequip it.

Well RNG gold and rep earnings is much different than a cosmetic reward. Beside the point though.
I wanted a lot of gold on my character, and I did not get that. Meanwhile other players were getting designs I would have rather had. To me, I was getting shafted even though I put in the same amount of time an effort as other players to get this reward.
I get the desire to be unique, and I definitely understand why people are upset about a universal design, but those people should also attempt to understand why it is important to make sure everyone can get a good design.
I think the best thing Rare can do at this point is just put each individual Gold curse preset in everyone's vanity chest, similar to all of the sailor tattoo sets (like Sailor Tattoo 1, Sailor Tattoo 2, etc...)
@chronodusk I understood your stance on the situation. It's just where in a game where nothing matters but cosmetics "different" is everything and we will never have that. It is just a shame.
Yeah, I loved my old gold curse. I agree that others got the short end of the stick when it cames to theirs but they should have upgraded the bad ones. Having 3 different types of gold curse should be fair. My old one, this new one, and one other pattern should be the standard. Although this new design still looks cool, I still prefer my old one and would prefer to see different types of gold curses on other pirates
If different always meant good then I would feel differently. But in this case different did not always mean good. I don't care to look unique if it looks terrible.
I'm happy with the new current design, but I want others to be happy with the Gold Curse too. So I and everyone else should continue to suggest that options be available.

I'm glad you like your curse but as it stands I will earn it but never equip it. I just don't care for it. Individuality is what I prefer and not look like the norm. Hence why I will be running around naked just to be different.
tbh the new curse is bad and covers my Tatooset completely :(
and both hands completely golden looks puke
RARE THIS IS COWPOO!All who are happy now know it comes with the cost of making others unhappy and take something unique away from them.
extremely disappointed to get that taken away from me and replacing it with this c**p!!!
"change it back" would not be an appropriate response.
"give players options" would be ideal.

Ahh, just like “change it to a uniform design” wasnt appropriate either... but they did that. Lol
I hear ya about rerollin rather than changing back but can you see the irony in your comment?
@chronodusk If the term options means give the plays certain type of looks its still meaningless if it wont be a RNG kind of thing, as in a spinner that you can get a random look of it. Because if just havign the curse look different like say you one has gold hand and gold on face or arm is gold and part of the body is it still ends up worth nothing if everyone can changed it to those options its hard to say but if you have a hat and you can add a feather on it, everyone else can do it so it means nothing, but if you have an RNG that gives you an unique kind of feather then its something of worth. so yeah depending on what options you mean its hard to say what your talking about give players options then change it back
It should have always been "Give players an intended design, but allow them to choose"
@chronodusk said in Every Curse Looks the Same!?!:

I still think being unable to choose and having random rewards, whether i got the worst one or not, is a cool addition to a game with otherwise meaningless cosmetic progression, imo its better than outright choice. You dont usually choose your cursedness when you get cursed lol.
Even the sets in shops are still all priced the same for gods sake.. bilge rat or admiral? Same thing to rare, as much of a waste of cosmetics as that is when you could sell bilge rat items for cheap and admiral then have value for costing more.
Its like they have the shortest attention span ever when trying to understand this type of stuff and just dont think it through...
