Absolutely tired of getting hit by the kraken

  • I know people complain about a lot of things but this one I can’t stand anymore. Much like in dead mans chest about how jack sparrow was afraid of the kraken I am too at this point. I am absolutely tired of getting krakened every.single.time. I play a galleon or a brig or even a sloop. Cause it always shows up at the worst times. Always sinks my ship or barley and sometimes is just the most annoying fight by not ever letting go of my ship. I know it’s a part of the game with how sea monsters work but there should be a trinket on like krakens fall where you can put it on your boat and reduce or get rid of getting hit by the kraken for your playthrough.

Looks like you need to learn how to fight the Kraken in the first place.
To free your ship of the Kraken's embrace you need to shoot the tentacle that spawns close to your ship. One cannonball is enough to make it submerge and reappear (mostly) on the opposite side. Repeat that until the grip loosens.

  • @deadlyphyton The kraken is not always active, and by that I mean most of the time it is unable to spawn and attack anyone. Every single time you've been attacked, it was during the small amount of time between cloud events. When a skeleton fort is active, or a skeleton fleet battle is active, and one of those clouds are in the sky, you are safe from the kraken. It can only spawn to attack a ship while no fort or fleet are active. Any time you're about to set sail and leave whatever island you are docked next to, make sure you check the sky for a skull cloud or ship cloud. If you see one of those two clouds in the sky, you cannot be attacked by the kraken. If you look around and don't see an active cloud somewhere, just wait 5 minutes until one appears. In between these cloud events is the only time the kraken is out there waiting to attack someone, and it's almost guaranteed it will attack someone during this time if possible.

That is how you avoid the kraken, but it's also how you hunt the kraken. I always try to fight it when I can. On a sloop it is incredibly easy to defeat just as long as you know what you are doing. You can acquire stronghold items and kraken meat for defeating it and I jump on the opportunity any chance I get. As soon as I see a cloud disappear I know it's out there and I immediately sail into deep water trying to coax it to attack me for easy loot.

I've given you the information on how to avoid it but if you play sloop often, I would highly suggest watching some guide videos on strategies to defeat it. Once you know how to win against it, you will change your mind on the kraken completely and actually welcome it when it appears.

Another tip is to always have a rowboat. I joined a server a couple days ago and was looking for a skeleton fleet cloud. Eventually I see the kraken on the horizon near a fort. I think to myself that someone completed the fort and was attacked as they left before the next cloud appeared. The kraken attacking a ship will actually delay the next cloud event. Since I didn't see a ship, I thought they may have been sunk so I sailed over to fight it off and look for the fort loot. Before I get there the kraken runs and I see a sloop coming from the opposite direction. As we meet I see a rowboat. They sank, and loaded the treasure into the rowboat before the kraken sucked them up and killed them. Then they came back with a new ship to retrieve the rowboat and the treasure. I ended up forming an alliance and went about my business and got a 50% cut of their treasure simply for being in the right place at the right time. Without that rowboat, they would have probably lost everything when they sank. I could have attacked them and stole it all but clearly they were already having bad luck so I was friendly.

  • @deadlyphyton the kraken is really easy, watch some youtube videos how to do it...

Today I killed a kraken within 60 seconds on a solo sloop...
