The one weapon I have always liked and oddly always been drawn to is the Bow & Arrow. Sure Sniper Rifles are cool, but something about Bows just makes me love them. I would love to see a Bow added to the game. It could be the in between to the Flintlock and the Eye of Reach. The advantage being that it's reload time is much faster, but you now have to compensate for travel time and gravity, much like when shooting cannons. This could be the first weapon in the game that you are either REALLY bad with or REALLY good with depending on your skill level. It should do about as much damage as a flintlock. I would prefer for it to play more like Hanzo's bow from Overwatch, than Destiny 2's Bows. D2 bows are basically bad hand cannons, they have like no travel time or drop it's really lame. If this is implemented, play Hanzo from Overwatch and use that as your template! D2's bows are horrible!
New Weapon - Bow & Arrow!
@lysergicaa @Zaannox Whatever do Ya mean it doesn't seem very pirate? They used those on a daily basis!
Well maybe not specificly the pirats from the Golden Age of Piracy, couse in this time learning how to shoot flintlock was much cheaper and less time consuming alternative rather than bows.
However piracy didn't sudenly popped out in XVII and XVIII century Ya know. The sea robbery was present ever sience the first boats was made. Examples of that are the Gothic-Herulic fleet that ravaged towns on the coasts of the Black Sea and Sea of Marmara in 258 AD, Vikings who conquered half of western world, the Victual Brothers and later the Likedeelers who terrorised the Baltic Sea so much that they almost compleatly halted the sea trade in this region and opposed the might of the Hanseatic League for years. Heck, even the Crusaders and knightly orders like order of St. John took up the mantle of corsairs and pirates. And those are just examples from Europe alone too!
So while pirates of the Golden Age like Bartholomew Roberts, Henry Morgan and thier crewmates were equiped with flintlocks, the XVI century swashbucklers like Drake and Hawkins had some great longbowman and crossbowman in thier crews!
Besides the bows would be really great addition to the game for one simple reason: stealth. Right now all of our long range weapons are making an ungodly noise upon firing. And bows would make very little noise. Just imagine the schenanigans born from those!
And they could be easly implemented in game, both mechanic and lore wise. They could add them with some content update regarding the Ancients or with some new, more ancient style region. The Devil's Shroud is endlessly shifting and counsuming or spitting out new lands after all! And just google how many fable lands from differend periods of time, like the ghost-lands of brothers Zeno or Atlantis OR Antilla are just waiting for Rare to implement ingame!
Cheers!
@zaannox But he is so wrong.. We actually have pirates today. Do you want their weapons from this era in the game aswell? No right?
