Magic Spells

  • Scrolls you can find with spells on them.
    Sky's the limit with spells.

Example 1: Fog. Summons a fog.

Example 2: Sleep. Puts enemies to sleep that are within x feet of the player.

Example 3: Invisibility. Makes you Invisible for a limited time. Attacking breaks it but carrying objects does not. The object does not also become invisible.

(pirate legends can learn one spell and may cast it once per day?)

  • @p4p3rm4t3 sorry this is just the worst idea ever.... can you imagine boarding a ship and instantly make the whole crew sleep? Where is the fun in that?

"Within x feet of the player" how op do you want to make it? I was thinking less powerful than a cursed cannon ball.

  • @p4p3rm4t3 i dont want it in the game even if it just worked 1meter around you. Would ruin the game. Sorry.

  • worst idea ever made for this game, what is the point with that??

  • Honestly, I kind of like the idea in theory - it could be fun. Just so long as they were very rare, and with a huge 'cooldown' period after using one. I doubt it is practical, but you never know.

A similar idea I've toyed with is the addition of cursed ammunition that matches the green cursed cannonballs. A single round that you could equip, to make someone start "gettin' jiggy with it", or similar. :P

Still extremely powerful because they go night night and you hack them to death..

    That's not even remotely challenging.

  • I kinda like some of these ideas, but maybe toned down a little. I wouldn't go with spells per se, so much as very specific shanties, that often require playing on multiple instruments.

For example, if one crew member plays a specific tune on the drum, another on the concertina, another on the hurdy-gurdy and they're all playing the same song for a few minutes without interruption, it can make people around dance or sleep. Similarly, a different tune could call forth a skelly ship, or a meg, or regular sharks. Maybe while a crewmember is fishing, another crewmate can play a song that lures a specific type of fish.

Obviously, there's precedent with the original hungering deep mechanic, so this could be turned into a regular feature.
