Getting thrown from boat too much!

  • This really needs turned down imo. Almost Everytime I get into a fight with a skeleton ship on my sloop, i take damage and go sailing 20ft off my boat only to spawn back into a sunken ship.
    Very frustrating...very unnecessary.
A dumb mechanic that needs reworked!

  • @mayo68 dodge...

  • @mayo68 I’m usually an advocate for comments like, “git gud” but the simple fact of the matter is I kind of agree with you.

The sloop is a very small ship. Skeletons have near perfect aim. Odds are if they hit your ship it is also going to hit you in some way. Causing the knockback. Not always resulting in falling off your ship BUT usually resulting in this.

The change you are asking for is a lower AOE radius when cannonballs hit a sloop because while I believe this is an essential mechanic as it adds a bit of umph to the cannonballs, I don’t see why the AOE has to be unhanging when hitting the different ships.

If you only play on a Galleon you probably have no idea what he’s talking about since when you get knocked back you just get knocked into a different prt of your massive ship. But sloops are small and the ocean is usually what you land on.

To @Schwammlgott who said the, “Dodge...” comment. I’d like for you to send us a video on this theead of you solo slooping a Skeleton Ship and not either sinking or getting tossed off your ship. Let me see a master dodger at work! Because you must be amazing at dodging! When I try to dodge I’m sometimes successful but I still fail a few times. YOU though, you must be like Bruce Lee though if you see no problem with this at all and simply stated he needed to dodge better. So please, show us how to dodge!

  • @zaannox

Agree, first you get cursed followed immediately by a shot that knocks you from the deck of the sloop. It's impossible to dodge.

  • @rayzback yes, my favorite! Get hit in proximity with a dancer, immediately followed by a pin point second shot and go sailing into the air dancing the whole time.lol
    That's a WIPE!

  • If you are asleep and or dancing from a CCB, a hit with a regular cannonball (or any damage) should break you out of the curse. Also where's the splash radius of effect for CCB's? Anywhere you hit on a sloop will guarantee the effect but not so with a galleon so the Skelly ships have a huge advantage.

Also we need a way to manually summon a mermaid. With erratic load times and the wait for a mermaid even to spawn, the ship is usually sunk by the time you get back. Especially if you have any sort of angle to the wheel so your boat is sailing in an arc. You have to get distance from your ship but you can't because the ship loops around but not close enough to get back aboard. Endlessly frustrating.

  • You could try lowering your speed and placing your boat in a turn, skelly ships cheat so use your boats agility to stay out of skelleons broadside.
If you still get knocked off, the boat turning helps you recover.

  • Yep, agreed that knockback from cannonballs is unnecessary. I believe it should be toned down if not removed, and as a last resort, replaced with cripple mechanic instead. Getting knocked off your sloop is one of the worst parts of this game

  • I've been encountering this issue as well. More than once I've been killed, spawning back in with just in time to save my sloop, but before I'm even done loading in, I get blasted off my ship into the water and my ship sinks shortly after since I cannot get back to it.

Rare really needs to tweak solo sloop mechanics to allow solo players a chance to win or at least flee from fights.

  • @barnabas-seadog yes, putting the skelly ship in a flat spin after you have done damage to it is your best strat...sometimes you can swim back to the boat in time if thrown, but not always.

  • It should still be able to knock you off but not by throwing you from one side of the ship and off the other.

  • Have you guys tried anchor turning your sloop the opposite direction as soon as the skelly ship is about to spawn and just to try and get out of there?

I'm only saying that bcuz if you are soloing a sloop against a skelly ship that spawns next to you, chances are very little that you will conquer and succeed sinking it.

However, if you had a teammate on the sloop with you your chances are better.
Not saying that you guys need one in order to succeed it's just a bit better than being alone.

Being on a sloop is still in my opinion kind of like setting the game difficulty to hard mode, things are gonna be tough bcuz of the low defense build of your ship, and your crew being at a low count makes it harder to back eachother up.

What I think they should do for people sailing a solo sloop (or just a sloop in general) is make it to where when a skelly ship does spawn on them, it be a sloop as well with less skellys than a galleon one, same goes for the brig too. That way we can tell which ship the skellys have spawned on whenever near eachother at the same time. And maybe less knockback from the sloop and brig skellys if possible, to like have a difference in power between but maybe not idk about that. :)

  • I slow down and turn behind the cursed ship, putting myself in a position where I can shoot them without them having to return the favor. If they turn to get an angle, I simply switch directions.
