@lordlymathiel Because if they did that people wouldn't log on and boost their player numbers. If players knew that they could do something whenever they want, then they would only play when they WANT.
Why not give players a second chance?
@ghostpaw Some people like me avoided grinding to PL. Never thought that Rare would use getting to PL for a timed exclusive reward.
The people who had Athena 10 also should have gotten a special cosmetic too but oh well. You had a year, They severely Nerfed the goal which made it super easy to get, they gave you a double xp weekend and told you a month in advance. My 8 year old who barely plays made legend. My friend who just started and barely played made it just jumping on with me doing skull forts and not much else.

Guess that hurts for the ones blaming people who hit PL faster than others for "rushing to PL and not enjoying the game"
We all made our own choices throughout the year.
It's been a year. It's not exactly a time consuming feat at this point.

For sure. I still wouldn't grind PL, but there are people who would. You can't say we had all year when we didn't know that it was something that we needed to do until the last month. Tons of people didn't turn in loot and grind because PL is an empty title that means nothing other than the new cosmetics. If they had known that they would lose out if they didn't get it by the end of the year they might have done things differently. Most of the people got it because they happen to play the "right way" for most of the year or played such an insane amount it was just collateral.

It's still quite time consuming and monotonous. If you exploit the game with alliance servers or focus farm with forts, merc quests, etc you can cut it down, but it's still a massive grind.
@donklol the rep needed for 1-20 won't even get you a single lvl past 30... Saying that one fort get's you to 20(which I don't think it will but w/e) is just dishonest in this context. How many forts does it take to get 50? Cause it sure as heck ain't 3 like your post implies.
Because you didnt know cosmetics were coming is a stupid excuse tbh, and shouldn't change anything.
Most of us who hit PL when we did didn't have the promise of a new cosmetic to earn just for hitting it. Most of us had people whine and complain because "we rushed and never enjoyed our journey".
Sucks for you is all I can say.
If its empty and meaningless to you, then who cares. But with that attitude go your cosmetic rewards for hitting it on time. Sorry bud.
@donklol Save yourself some time and just let it go. Trust me on this. FWIW, we knew what you meant.
@donklol So the 7 forts i did over a day should have gotten me from 45 to 50? I'm using my highest level.
@lordlymathiel Probably not. I am sure by now you have noticed the progression slows as you level up. The total haul from a fort over the double XP weekend would have blasted through the first few levels (like @Donklol was suggesting) not the last few.
I feel you man, I'm with you. It's a bit difficult, but I'll try explaining my thoughts about it: SoT devs wanted to create a world more than a game, where people can interact and create their own stories. Moreover, they have to create content to push/force people to play. Atm the game is a bit unbalanced on these points: you feel like you HAVE to play, for example every evening, trying to achieve thing and find people, to feel the aforementioned world and getting, for example, exclusive timed cosmetic items. This feels a bit unatural to me, considering everyday life.
I know this game is based on grinding, but they can do that in a better way (f.e. not removing exclusive items, but making them easy to be obtained during an event, while you'll need plenty of time and gold to get them after it).
Moreover, on PL exclusive items, first of all I would have extended the "Gold and Glory" weekend to an entire week and given more "simple" exclusive items: considering the set, it's not fair that any PL won't be able to have a matching hurdy gurdy or shiny items. The other exclusive items (f.e. onyx) are, indeed, simpler to not create too much difference between players, keeping the world various but "fair".
That's my opinion i guess
