This weekend (March 15th-18th) is our first Gold and Glory Weekend in Sea of Thieves! Just play as normal and you'll find that gold and reputation rewards from completed voyages have been given a hearty boost.

What do they gain from this?
I mean theres not alot of cosmetics left to spend gold on...and PLs dont need rep...unless athena..
And now yous got dedicate a weekend to making it easier...even tho there is a massive lack in content for the already Legends.

Ahoy there, this is a an event which will benefit everyone on the seas.
There'll be more loot floating about for stealin', more progress towards Legend and Athena for those not maxed yet and a chance to fill yer pockets for those still wantin' to buy those cosmetics.
It is of course, optional.
Why the constant shoving of more and more gold and now rep at everyone? What is the reason to keep pushing everyone through the levels so fast? Are we going to get a lot more content soon to greatly expand Athena's and Pirate Legend?
Unless the mega update is going to raise the faction levels, offer a lot more Athena and Pirate Legend content this does nothing to truly help the game than more sales. Hopefully the state of the sea is not in such dire straits. All these voyages to through endless gold and rep rushing players through the ranks just lessens the experience that came before. It also makes the efforts of everyone that has sailed along on this journey since the beginning feel meaningless and worthless.

@marknow1000 im not being negative i made very soild points. The already legends gain nothing from this...and game was supposed to start wen u get PL...now they just throwing loot at ppl lol

Maybe Rare has decided to rebrand the game to Sea of Legends for every single soul will be a Pirate Legend. There better be a lot more coming for Pirate Legends and content that greatly expands the game beyond 50/50/50 or this does nothing but cheapen the game.
@katttruewalker yeh that was supposed to happen yday but that didnt go down either and still no word on why it was delayed or even wen ppl can sign up. Its confusing everyone i see lots of posts on here and reddit about insider....its very unclear.

@katttruewalker Just to confirm, boosted xp applies to Legendary Chests as well? I'm at 7 and 1/2 and a bit ground out on Legendary Voyages at the moment.

Yes that could be true. However, it should come before there is a massive crowd waiting at the dock for it.
@oni2anza 2x, my friend! Gold and rep awarded will be doubled. The gold bundles you get from Duke will also be doubled, although rep bundles (Letters of Recommendation) remain the same.
Just enjoy the game guys, half the fun is in making your own adventure and making new friends along the way, i hit legend late last year but still I only ever look forward to getting on the seas with good friends with no real plan in mind and just seeing where the night takes us, it always ends up being fun no matter what
Help some pirates hit legend before the 20th, that's what i'll be doing
Perhaps they want more Legends to justify more content for Pirate Legends? If this is what they need to do to justify it, then I'm cool with that!
Also, maybe I'm just reading into things, but they gave us almost a month notice for rewards for people who hit Legend within the first year, then they also give a boosted XP weekend to give people trying to reach legend before the 20th that extra push... It seems like the first year legend rewards might be so juicy that they just want to give ample opportunity for everyone to get it!
P.S. - a black and silver color alt to the Pirate Legend outfit is what's on my wishlist for the first year legend reward!

You should be able to enjoy your weekend away at least without that worry.

Just having the loyal players who stuck around and played this game through thick and thin to get to Pirate Legend and Athenas should be more than enough reason than a quota.

It will be that little XP boost alot of pirates need. I got buddies at around levels 47 49 50 who will love this. Great motivator for them to get over that last hill!

@marknow1000 There is definitely a lot of new players. Just the other day an entire server was nothing but new crews with the occasional veteran among their ranks helping them learn the game. Luckily there wasn't too much confrontation that day, even got some of them to join in a kraken attack by helping save a galleon. In a way, they remind me of myself, eager to fight and explore, a lot of promising sailors. Who knows, maybe one day I will again cross blades with them and then share a drink over a well-earn haul.
