Ships lack proper rigging

    Bit of a weird suggestion, but does anyone else agree that the ships we have in game are lacking a massive amount of rigging? Most age of sail ships had TONS of rigging between the masts, all usually with a purpose.

    My suggestion, is for the devs to add a decent amount more rigging. Especially connecting all the masts together. They dont have to be functional, but it would certainly help make the ships look awfully more pretty and imposing, especially the Galleon and Brig.

    Now, as you can clearly see, those ships have a TON of rigging. I'm only suggesting maybe 1/4 of that be added to the ships. It would honestly just make them look a LOT better, and a lot more impressive, and make them feel like actual, powerful ships. Cause right now, they often times feel like bathtub toys instead of fearsome warships with formidable pirate crews at the helm.

    Anyway, what do y'all think?

    @kitsunelegend69 I mean... I agree with most your points, but it's kind of nitpicking and also I think it just adds unnecessary complexity to interacting with the ship that Rare may have originally considered and decided to cut from the game.

    A few questions one might ask are: Would extra sails increase the speed of the ships? What would be the purpose of the extra rigging besides being purely aesthetic? How do you account for having to manage extra sails at the cost of not having increased size in crew? Are there extra spaces on the ship where crewmates could interact with the addition of new sails that don't conflict with the existing rigging? Would this involve having to completely rework the currently existing ship models and cosmetics?

    Alot of those questions would be hard to find solutions for. As it is, I do like the idea aesthetically, but I think it's reaching a bit.

    I would say they limit the rigging due to memory conservation. Since this plays on consoles they are probably trying to save cpu with counting the polygons for each rope.

    I would like to add that additional ship details would be nice especially if they could be customized.

    @levernicus There are two main kinds of "optional" sails. Studding sails and gaff sails. Studding sails go at the ends of yardarms to catch more wind behind the ship, while Gaff ships catch wind from the side or front.

    I think that while you are correct, and the ships don't even have enough rigging to keep their masts up, the added benifit of putting more lines in is not worth the performance drain.

    'Tis a fantasy game mate, the ships aren't meant to be realistic, they're meant to evoke a sense of adventure in an age gone by. Rigging's the least of the ships quirks. There's the fact that the galleon has gun ports on the mid deck that don't appear on the inside and can't open. There's a window below the captain's cabin, but no actual cabin below inside the ship. The brigs sails unfurl way too low and obstructs the view hilariously badly. The sloops capstan leads directly into the cabin.

    I think even something simple as shrouds or "ratlines" from the side of the ship up to the crows nest would be a huge improvement. It would work the same way as the ladder on a dock (it snaps you to the right side as soon as you interact) It bothers me to have a "ladder" attached to the mast. the only thing that would cause problems is trimming the sails but i'm sure there could be workarounds since that how square rigged tallships worked.
