Rowboat bug not fixed?!

  • Hello, and thank you for delivering this great game and keeping it updated. I was looking forward to today's update and was crossing my fingers the rowboat glitch/bug and other issues about it would be fixed, but it's not in the patch notes.

Many times some rowboats would become unusable (on Xbox One), where you can glitch through it and not be able to use the oars (but can sit down). This has happened many times to me and the only fix is to find a new rowboat. One time I had to bail from my ship with all my treasure on the rowboat and could not row it to the outpost. This seems like a major glitch and should be fixed.

Another issue a bit more minor is when detaching the rowboat from the ship while standing in it but too close to the ship, will cause the player to be slightly under the ship and go to the loading screen (just like what happens when getting up from the rowboat while under a tight space). It's very inconvenient to be extremely careful about being all the way on the right side of the rowboat before detaching and then having to aim perfectly to detach it. With the ship moving it's not a good option to detach while inside the ship and jump out.

On a couple side notes, would be nice to make it easier to aim to the rowboat's storage compartment without accidentally sitting down.

The rowboat is such a great tool to have for running cargo or loot and should be more reliable when in good condition, please let me know if the glitch is being worked on or any of the other issues I mentioned will be improved. Thanks!

  • @xx100xpercent The workaround for the glitched rowboat is to reset it - like you reset the islands. If your entire crew gets onto the ferry of the damned and then comes back, when you come back, the rowboat is fixed. I did this solo on the weekend.

I've learned to detach while on the ship and then jump aboard the rowboat.

  • @xx100xpercent It's a rare issue. I use rowboats more than most and have only had it happen once. It's probably just far down on the list of bugs to fix.

  • @xx100xpercent That's still happening? Last time I had it was a couple of months ago. I would fix it by dying

Ahoy there and thanks for posting the issues you've experienced. I'm sure you've submitted reports via Support for these but I thought it might be helpful to quote something posted recently about the process which is gone through in order to prioritise and deal with issues and bugs. I'm sure the teams are working to resolve these as quickly as they can.

For anyone who reads this and stopped submitting tickets because they felt like they weren't being heard, here's a quote from Drew Stevens (Senior Producer) a while back about how the process works:

"For a little insight behind the scenes - All the bug reports are collated and passed to our internal test team for Review, Repro and Assigning out to the team/individual best served to fix the issue.
With each team our Leads are triaging bugs and assessing priority against new work at all times, we certainly aren't ignoring these - however will always have the challenge of balancing bug fixing based on their impact against new and exciting work!
We also see what is trending on our Forums/Social & Reddit and add bugs to our backlog as required. We certainly don't need another format for visualizing bugs - we have a pretty well defined process for our reports!
Sorry you don't feel like your bug is being addressed, it's more likely a prioritization call based on upcoming work."
