Starting Island

  • Just wondering how this works, guessing you spawn in furthest away from players as possible

However, wondering how this works with sinking. Reason being sometimes i spawn top left of the map and want to play in Devils Roar.

Is it possible to sail n scuttle eastwards to try and get there faster somehow

Kinda tiring having to sail all
    the way across the map

  • I think spawns work within some parameter that just tries to place you a set amount of tiles away from other players. Somethin' to just prevent immediate spawn camping, but you could still spawn in sight of other ships.

Scuttling to re-locate probably isn't a viable tactic, but if you spawn at Sanctuary Outpost and want to play in the DR, let's just say it ain't like you can spawn further away.

  • I actually tested this out for myself when the game first came out, and I couldn't find any consistent way of manipulating where you spawn. If you're planning to scuttle to move somewhere closer, just think of the risk/reward. If you're on one corner trying to go to the other corner, then obviously scuttle because no matter what you'll end up a little closer. But if there are alot of islands behind you then you're just as likely to spawn on one of those.

  • The times I tried to scuttle and move closer, it didn't.
If you are on a SSD, just leave and come back, if not, just start sailing.

(A bonus to sailing the distance is to supply run the whole way and have enough to take down everything in your path)
