Why not reward the most seasoned that have carried the game to where it is today

@novas-soul I hope your joking. I mean there is already going to be a backlash about giving it to Pirate Legends. People are no doubt going to come in and complain that it isn't fair that people are going to get exclusive loot. It happened with over-acheivers, it happened with friends sale free, and it will happen with PL. Doing this with Athena's would be an even smaller base and cause more people to revolt.
@imadeyoureadme not joking at all. I’ve played since alpha and invested time and energy into a game that I love. If they are rewarding reaching legend than in my opinion max Athena rewards are logical
@novas-soul I don't necessarily disagree with you but unfortuantely the player base in this game is one of instant gratification. If something isn't available to them but available to others horror ensues because its not fair. There are enough PL's now, especially after the introduction of Forsaken Shores) that Rare can easily tell the others to go away. Athena's 10 is still a bit of a grind. Plus if you have been in since alpha you already have the pioneer's sails, and you have access to all the Athena's loot which a lot of people don't.
Trust me, I am usually the one going after rare for thing, but this one I am actually OK with them doing. Having the Athena's 10 title is good enough for me. Especially when they never had to introduce any added bonus for PL in the first place.
I was an Alpha tester and am only PL8. Don't presume that your ability to play for more than a couple of hours a night, and SoT being the only/most frequently played game in your library entitles you to more than anyone else. Rare doesn't have to give us anything, and frankly, I couldn't care less - I enjoy the game for what it is. I'll admit, I do feel gratified that Rare will acknowledge us in some way, but there are actually very few people who can invest the time it takes to reach Athena 10; so adding an additional 'reward' is ridiculous and pretty insulting.

It's only a day old or something. Not exactly what your saying, but this thread won't be much different than this one if I had to guess. And personally, this thread is a nightmare that doesn't offer any good feedback or suggestions. Just people that want even more for something that ,in the end, really doesn't matter.
@bonko40 yea I saw that. However that approach was a bit intense, I’m in no way saying or even thinking im “elite”. Just thought it would be cool to have something showing I accomplished a difficult task within the games first year. I value everyone’s feedback because that’s what a community is, Whether you put in 1000 hours or 10 shouldn’t matter everyone should get an opinion.

Exclusive loot in a pay-2-play game always feels gross(even in free-2-play it's gross). We all paid and supported the game the same amount. Saying "oh well these players did "X" arbitrary thing so they get an exclusive reward." is a slap in the face to everyone else. If the reward is available to everyone if they do that task then great, everyone is better off. Rare says there is no right way to play, but giving exclusive loot for playing a certain way is a contradiction to that.

@betsill Here we go. If I did something in a time frame and get the loot I get the loot. World of Warcraft does this, Warframe does this, many games do this. You paid for the game play it. If you want the loot work for it. Stop expecting everything to be handed to you. Exclusive loot encourages people to do the events at the time they are available. They are already doing this in the game. Didn't get the Mercenary Set cause you didn't do the voyage in time tough.
Rare is trying to give people something for accomplishing something in their game. They didn't have to but chose to. They have also told people it is happening. So if you want it you best be getting on the seas and earning it. Otherwise stop trying to have everything handed to you when those that have it actually earned it.

i hope they do give something to those who were there at launch to say thank you and those that weren't CAN DEAL WITH IT as that is reality
this game was pushed forward BY those who played at launch and continued to play not by those who came in 9 or 10 months later
this community is NOT driven by youtubers who think they are the voice of sea of thieves or the community
this community IS NOT driven by streamers who GET PAID TO PLAY the game
This game is driven by a passionate community who has stuck to this game because there is nothing like it multiplayer EVER DONE BEFORE on this scale
sure Atlas has come along since then but that game is trash and full of broken promises and lies much like the developers behind Atlas (switch ark for example)This game is unique and that is (excuse the pun) the rare beauty of it and those passionate members who continued to support this game for the fact they still find it fun after almost a year should be rewarded either by a thanks or an in game item because IT IS those players who continue and will continue to be there to support the game and there are MANY people like me who do that
And i plan with my crew who has shaped over the year to have a party on it's anniversary to celebrate the year
@imadeyoureadme HAHA what a bunch of BS. What is being handed to anyone? Never asked for loot to be just given to me, so don't write BS that I never said. If the loot is tied to getting PL then you have to get PL if you want the loot. Making it timed exclusive is a scummy marketing tactic to create artificial scarcity and addict people to your game. They want you to play their game as much as possible and using a "act now before it's gone!!" scam is far easier than making content that makes people WANT to play the game on it's own merits. It's a way to squeeze value out of otherwise mundane assets. They take a skin that is fundamental the same as any other, but instead of adding it to the game for everyone to earn and enjoy they slap a "limited time" on it to pressure players to log on and play. Not because they want to play the game, but because they fear missing out. It's gross. No matter who does it. After all, If it's not limited time then people will only get it if they like it and/or want to do they activity required to get it. Rare benefits way more by exploiting peoples psychology and that's why they do this c**p.

People that have a problem with rewarding people for what they do and not those that haven't need to wind their necks in. All a bunch of entitled silly people who are clearly part of the world's problematic "I'm offended by everything" religion that's going on.
Exclusives should exist, it encourages people to get to work, and the people that don't like it are those that won't get it and they should be made to suck it up or get more involved, I don't care how busy you are in IRL we are all busy, but if you want exclusives put Apex and Anthem down and play more than 3 hours a week, sorry not sorry.
@the-tonkinese Ummmmmmm. I am absolutely fine with exclusives and think they should stay. All I am saying is that a large number of people think that everything should be available to everyone at all times, and If Rare did it for Athena's 10 There is going to be a bigger fuss than what they are going to get for doing it to Pirate Legends.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with giving players something exclusive to show that they participated in events when they came to the game. I don't understand why so many people are of the mindset that "everyone has to be able to get the same things or its unfair."
Some of us played the Hungering Deep and completed it last Spring when there was no Alliance flag to show that you were ready to team up.
Some of us played every Bilge Rat event, and played through Cursed Sails which had RIDICULOUS real world time-of-day event limitations and earned every last piece to the Bonecrusher set.
Some of us ventured through the Devil's Roar when it first came around and the area was like 100 times more violent than it is now.
And now, Rare has decided to give something to those of us who became legends during the game's defining first year.
I'm glad that I have something to show for all of that, and while I don't agree with OP's suggestion that year one Athena 10's should get something, I think that limited time cosmetics are important in a game where all we have to show for our accomplishments is cosmetics.

@chronodusk Agreed, Maybe my original post wasn't clear. I am completely fine with exclusives. All I was saying is that IMO people are going to come to the forums and complain because they haven't achieved PL yet, and feel they should be given the stuff as well.
I have earned every timed event cosmetic to date. The only stuff I do not have is the items gated behind physical purchased.

I think it's bad for the game. It's just a marketing scam to inflate the value of assets with artificial scarcity. This is the exact same scam that companies like supreme use to sell a stinky brick for thousands of dollars. It's just disgusting and exploitative of the players. If you want people to play your game, then make something they WANT to play. Exploiting peoples fear of missing out to get them into your game is just unethical. There's nothing special about doing something at a certain time in a video game. Doing the hungering deep quest back then would be the exact same accomplishment as doing it now. I played the hungering deep because I wanted to. Unfortunately for some people they can't play it anymore, because rare wanted to use a scam to pressure player into logging on in the short term rather than provide long term value in the game for everyone to enjoy.

But you could still accomplish those things if they weren't limited time. Limited time just means that others have to miss out despite paying for this game just like everyone else. If you find value in the fact that some people can't get what you have then that's really just sad. I can understand the selfish impulse a little bit, but I've always wanted other people to be happy as well. I don't get any joy knowing that others missed out.
@novas-soul first part is just fine and hopefully more of a rewarding end game or special quest or better pets or cosmetics is coming for a10 which makes perfect sense. The PL reward is just an anniversary cool thing to do. We shouldn't use it as a platform as your issue stands on own.
Now onto the second part of the statement... A10s have not carried the game. It would have to be a larger majority than that honestly speaking. To be honest streamers have carried the game more than a10s... little kids and families more than a10s... pl more than a10s. Now I will say a10s are loyal and often people who love the game and who should be recognized so maybe RARE will hear that.@betsill
I can't stand the fact that gaming has adopted FOMO to be an excuse against time-limited items. That is NOT what FOMO is. Time-limited exclusives existed in games like Everquest, Everquest 2, Star Wars Galaxies & World of Warcraft for over a decade before that term was ever even used.
The entire term came from social media, and people's incessant need to get their "fix" on what everyone is doing. It has nothing at all to do with games or loot and was adopted by whiny people to cover things like micro-transactions and loot crates.

I'm not PL10 because I don't want to cheapen my experience cheesing through the grind and often choose to play solo. Why should I be punished for the way I choose to play and unrewarded for my equal dedication? Arguably, it could be said that I would deserve it more simply for playing on "hard mode" and without looking for shortcuts.
No, there needs to be another factor involved for such a reward. PL10 isn't it.

I've been playing since beta, but can't be as invested for multiple personal reasons as well as pc frame rate drop, but besides the point of investment, I've supported this game for nearly as long as you. Why shouldn't I be rewarded as well? In all honesty why do you want to take away from others? You are already getting the reward either way
