[SERIOUS ISSUE] Sprint resetting the ability to aim your guns and shoot.

  • @ezratheskeleton said in [SERIOUS ISSUE] Sprint resetting the ability to aim your guns and shoot.:

@silenius-x They literally explain all of this in the patch notes:

"Double-Gun Switching – The Pistol, Blunderbuss and Eye of Reach have new wield animations and enforce a delay when equipping and switching between these weapons."

It's not an issue nor a bug.

Riddle me this then.... Why is there a delay between me runing and shooting? if you sprint and try to shoot there is a massive delay im sorry to say but in real life people run and shoot quite effectively so why do I have a 1.5 sec delay from a sprint while my blunderbuss is equipped to shooting it? it is ridiculous.

  • @ticklepantzz Run... or sprint? If you simply run in the game, your weapon is out and you will not have a delay.

  • @bran-the-ent Sprint sorry, Its like the delay they added between wep switching it doing same as you sprint. It also seems to happen in the water. It feels very strange

  • @ticklepantzz The delay occurs when you pull a weapon out. It makes total sense to have such a delay... so that you can't fire until the weapon is out and ready. You do not have it when you are running or swimming normally (when your weapon is already out). Learn to adapt. If you are sprinting, drop back into a run first. If you are speed swimming, drop back into a swim first. Simply requires rethinking your timing.

  • @bran-the-ent Yeah, Thats one way to make the argument the other one is that its just clunky and feels weird since anyone in real life could sprint and run up to you and shoot with a blunderbuss being held in their hands anyway difference of oppinion I guess.

    Thanks for the input!

  • I like the new changes. They actually balance combat out much better than before. Now you actually have to use real tactics. You can't just rely on hip shot. As for the delays, I have not found them to be an issue. It is not a long delay. I like that it takes a second for you to use a gun when boarding my ship, gives me a better chance to defend. And forces you to use better tactics than just pull gun and pull trigger.

  • @ticklepantzz arrr i agree the fix should have been disable the two gun loadout, which would upset those players but easy code to have wrote. And the problem disappears completely

  • @silenius-x said in [SERIOUS ISSUE] Sprint resetting the ability to aim your guns and shoot.:

@borges1091 Well dude, you might want to take a look at the sword if destroying people is what you want, it takes virtually no skill to mow through people, just circlestrafe around them, jumping and buttonmashing, if someone stunlocks you look at them and block.
The removal of the slowdown made that thing stupidly busted. (i kinda like it, especially in pve)

It's boring though, i have more fun shooting people.

yeah I saw this it's actually ridiculous lol

Uh no. Think about what you're saying you want to force people to use swords for your personal amusement?

  • @ticklepantzz said in [SERIOUS ISSUE] Sprint resetting the ability to aim your guns and shoot.:

    @silenius-x Hey man,

Yeah ive been playing the game since it came out and this is the absolute worse update they have release.

You can not run and hip fire as it delays for about 1.5 sec.
You can't run and ADS as it has about 2 sec delay.

You cant swim move and ads if you are in a under water fight as you have massive delay trying to get the aim to work.

Also I am still able to double gun and at the same speed as before.

The solution to this issue without breaking the game was to only let us use one gun,

What they have done is a complete and utter mess its literally broken all combat in the game. Good luck running from a skelly with powder keg turning around and shooting them with that delay.

    Double Gun:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Seaofthieves/comments/anuha0/you_can_still_double_shot_i_wont_say_how_but/}

I disagree with limiting one gun..you still get more ammo with 2 and can kill people from a distance. Forcing people to use swords would receive even more negative feedback.

  • @borges1091

Yeah I suppose you are right but either way whats been done does not work and I basically hate it lol

  • @nofears-fun You can no longer do the running slash or quickdraw techniques I showed you because of these changes. As a result, the combat was actually dumbed down. Tactics and strategy actually went out of the window... I would've preferred it if they slowed down your movement when shooting rather than speeding things up with the sword, and they only needed to adjust the draw speed of a 2nd gun, not all of the guns...

  • @ticklepantzz After checking double gunning i think that the video was fake i tried for 20 minutes just to see if its still a thing and its not.

  • @silenius-x yesterday I tryed this, and I think this is not a big deal
Also had no problems with the gunpowder skellies, sure it's a bit slower with that, but ok

  • @faceyourdemon It's not fake. I have a video of me doing it why would I lie about it lol? I even submitted a ticket and its being investigated. Also more people have complained about it and submitted tickets

  • @galactic-geek Yeah its actually terrible. They made it so basically you can no longer do any "Big" plays because you get on a ship you are slow as ****. You cant basically run up to someone and ADS them in the back when they are on cannons etc... its just made the whole thing feel absolutley unrealistic. Some people have said well you can run and shoot ...... that's dumbest logic I ever heard for a cell shaded fantasy game lol.

  • started the download, 27gb, read the forums, cancelled the download

  • @grimmycool Yep....

  • Glad to see the majority of the playerbase agreeing on this, even here on the official forums.

This update sounded good on paper, but it made me stop playing on practice.
As Pace mentioned, this completely removed the skill gap the game had, you can't shine anymore, all it takes is 2 buttonmashers rushing at you to negate any sort of advanced movement or technique.

I still won all of my engagements, but it felt terrible and clunky, i had no fun playing.

  • @silenius-x Hey dude,

yeah I've also dropped the game. I actually cant stand having my mobility in a PVP game being limited and being forced to not use any of the stuff I have learned to use. Such as jumping off the capstan onto guys running after me and hip firing the blundy before swording them. All you do now is pull sword out button mash like there is no tomorrow and pray.

I find the whole thing a step back and worrying considering the focus on the arena. For now however as much as this is probably my favorite game of all time I just simply can't play it it feel like im being forced into doing stuff I just dont want to do. This being an open world experience makes this fact even more unbearable.

  • @galactic-geek I understand what you are saying, my issue is, before this update, I would die long before I could employ anything you had shown me, and most often could not get what you had shown me to work properly or effectively. I am fairly sure I can still do the running slash though. As for quickdraw techniques, I am glad they are gone. I can't aim as fast as many I face in PvP, so this update helps peeps like me actually be competitive. And allows me to use techniques such as attack/withdraw then attack again that I never could get to work before.

  • @nofears-fun You can't aim on a first person game?
Well, there is something called PRACTICE, you should try it instead of crying for nerfs.

I have played shooters for over 20 years now, seeing all the effort i have put into having good tracking skills go down the drain in this game because of this patch made me uninstall it.

  • @silenius-x Not fast enough mate. Not afraid to say it either. This way, I am not dead before the fight even starts. Love all of the changes. It just forces you to change your tactics some and actually takes time to think about what you want to do, rather than, board ship, aim, shoot, and done.

This is not a first person shooter game. Clearly Rare doesn't feel it is as they wanted to stress the importance of the cutlass.

Also, they now balanced the weapons so that each one has a clear role. No longer can you just use the EoR for everything. Love that they nerfed hip firing on that.

  • @silenius-x Also, you say practice, I tried, hard to do when you last seconds at most before being dead.

Would love to know where you get that statistic from. Seems fairly mixed, if anything, most like the new rebalancing. Several threads in these forums with many comments supporting the changes.

I would remind you though, this is only the first change, they will most likely keep a watch on it and make more changes as they move forward.

  • @nofears-fun Tactic? you mean buttonmashing with a sword?
They removed the skill gap the game had, battles are extremely boring and braindead now.

Reading other opinions is a great reason for not doing something. Trying it yourself would be stupid.

If that is how you play, then good luck. Sounds like you don't want to play a pirate game. Sounds like you want to play a first person shooter. If that is the game, then this is not the game for you mate.

  • @ticklepantzz I didnt said you lied,
People spread rumors and others post somewhere else so it looked like it was just a viral fake video.
Well maybe your'e right but i have tried it.

  • @nofears-fun said in [SERIOUS ISSUE] Sprint resetting the ability to aim your guns and shoot.:

I am fairly sure I can still do the running slash though.

You can, but there's no point anymore, as a regular slash now gets you the same result...

  • @ticklepantzz because it's a video game.

  • @ezratheskeleton Oh is that the new excuse for bad game mechanics?

  • @faceyourdemon I got it about 3-10 its very hard to do but im sure if someone really wants to they will get the hang of it. I get that it still esentially fixes the issue but still there in some shape or form :P

In addendum to what I said earlier, I see no reason why they can't simply re-add in a further speed boost to the manuever in order to maintain its versatility in combat...

  • @ticklepantzz yea it needs to go it rewards bad players
