The Worst Thing I've Ever Done (in SoT)

  • So, this is the story of probably the most petty thing I've ever done in the game. It was about 1am my time and I had just gotten done solo slooping for 3 hours. I turned in all of my loot and was ready to sign off for the night. Before I did, I noticed that the only message in a bottle quest I had left was for 1 chest 1 island over. So, I decided ehhhh I'll just go do that real quick.

So, as I am looking around the island for this chest, a galleon rolls up on me and just wrecks my sloop. All while this is happening, their crew were screaming things at me that I can't repeat in this post (racial/homophobic slurs, you get the idea). I managed to sneak into the back part of the Galleon (the dock area behind the Captain's Quarters, I can't remember what it's called) without them noticing. I did the sleep emote and that's where it all began.

Every time that crew did a quest/sunken ship, I'd wait till the loot was loaded into the Captain's Quarters, sneak in when they weren't looking, and just dump all the loot off the boat. They would only notice the loot was gone when they stopped at an outpost.

This went on for 2 hours before they noticed I was on their ship. They even locked one of their crew members in the brig at one point because they thought he was the one doing it. It was probably the most petty thing I've ever done in the game, but this was wayyyy before summit1g started hiding on ships for long periods of time so not many people thought to inspect their ships in those days.

TLDR: A crew was being toxic, so I snuck on their Galleon and chucked their loot off of their boat for 2 hours straight.

  • @cstrap sometimes I feel that kind of action is justified. Especially with they way you say they were talking to you.

I was brigged once on an open galleon for something. This was months ago so I can't remember what happened to get me there. As I was in the brig I told the crew they were wrong for what they did and all I wanted was an apology. If they could admit they were wrong and apologize, I would leave the game giving them their fourth spot for a new crew member. They didn't apologize though. In fact they taunted me a little. So after a while, I broke out of the brig, ran upstairs without anyone seeing me and started dumping skulls off their back balcony. I think I dumped four or five before they anchored next to plunder outpost. Then I grabbed one more skull and swam it as far and as deep as I could until I died.

Once I respawned I was back in the brig. I noticed all three guys searching the ship. One at a time they would run downstairs and look around before running back up. After a minute I sent them all three a message saying I stole their skulls. Then they came down and started filling the ship with water trying to kill me. I told them again that if they apologize, I'd leave. If not, I'm going to keep stealing their stuff.

They continued on and I broke out two more times. The third time I ran up in front of the guy on the wheel and waved at him before grabbing a chicken coop at another guys feet and jumping off with it as they sailed away. Once I was back in the brig again they ran the ship into fools lagoon and abandoned ship letting it sink, but I managed to get out of the brig before it went down. The four of us stood on the island and one of them was trying to hand me a castaways chest. I didn't want it of course. I just wanted them to admit they were jerks. After a few minutes they climbed up on top of a big rock playing music until they all left one by one.

I never did get them to apologize. In fact I only got harassing xbox messages with foul language telling me to die. In hindsight I should have reported them for that. Yes what I did was shady but they deserved it. I just wish I could remember what happened to have them brig me in the first place.

  • @testakleze Yeah, I mean I wasn't really all that offended with what they were saying to me (the racial/homophobic slurs they were saying didn't really apply to me), but I was like "Man, these guys are jerks. I'm just gonna ruin their night".

That's pretty awesome that you did that though. I don't really like random trolling, but it feels really good to pull one over on someone who is genuinely a jerk.

Xbox has completely changed with the reporting system. They take it extremely serious now, so you probably could have gotten those guys suspended if you reported them.

  • @cstrap I probably could have, but like you, I wasn't too upset with them. I understand two wrongs don't make a right but then again this is just a game. As long as harassing isn't involved, I feel people can play it how they want. After all, we are pirates and pirates can be sneaky and backstabbing. That's no reason not to be respectful at the same time though. I tend to watch a lot of videos by captain falcore and @HitboTC and they are pretty respectful to other players even when they are killing and sinking them. Again I wish I could remember why they brigged me but I do remember it was unnecessary and unwarranted. I didn't yell at them for it or cuss them out. I just told them I wanted an apology and then I'd leave them to their game. Obviously they didn't have the same respect for me as I did them. So I guess you could say I got my justification by dumping their treasure overboard.

  • @testakleze yeah. I’m not gonna act like I get mad about cussing. Cussing is like a second language to be. I just don’t want to get banned from the forums haha. I guess I just like targeting toxic people in the game because it’s a way where I can be a little scummy and not feel bad about it.

  • Good work.

  • @new-world-clogs You are the true PL of all PL.

You actually are a thief and understand that once violence gets involved. You failed.

  • @new-world-clogs haha that’s crazy dude. Nice

  • If I may slip in on the subject of 'sneakiness' pirate behaviour. I fermly believe that 'sneakiness' should be a huge part of beeing a pirate. Because it delivers often the most tense, thrilling and hillarious moments. The unpredictable outcomes and stories that come out of it are a one of the best and intense moments a pirate can encounter. So therefore I plea for more sneaky tools in the sandbox style game SOT wants to be.

    1. Give a pirate the possibillity to crouch which hides your nametag.

    2. Give a pirate the option to realy spy unseen with your spyglass. No glint with the spyglass please, it is not called 'spy'glass for nothing. The glint with the eye of reach is enough to give your position away.

    3. Give a pirate spots to hide, hiding in the unused barrels on ships and at certain strategic barrels on islands, for example close to ammo boxes. Maybe also some on outposts, why not?

    4. Let pirates hide in bushes. The round bushes on outposts are like rocks, you can't go true them. Make them open so you can hide in them. Especially when crouching is implemented, your head would just be hidden in the bushes.

These few simple mechanics would help immense to encourage sneaky behaviour. And povide us pirates with countless tense and hillarious stories to tell. Summit 1G has proven this.

What do you fellow pirates think.
