The skeleton forts are easy to take if nobody is countering you but once a ship comes its literally impossible to take it. Today i tried taking around 4 skeleton forts and every time i tried either 1-2 ships would come and every time you sink them they just keep coming back this one ship came back around 15 times and we sank him all 15 times and then we got the skull fort loot after around 2 hours and 30 mins its insane how long it takes like if a ship is sunk 2 times in a row by the same person you should just be kicked of that server or something WE NEED TO NERF RESPAWNS you cant even get a single wave done before the ships start to come back its so anoyying and boring.
Skeleton forts problem
Skullforts are really for those inclined to pvp so if someone really did come back 15 times that's pretty cool 😂 think I've done roughly 200 forts and never had more than 3 returns, I feel like anytime I've ever sank I get spawned the otherside of the map, so either they got really lucky close respawns or you guys took wayy too long to clear rounds, if you didn't already know, lead all the skeletons to the fort door and chop away, usually clears them pretty quickly. Goodluck!

Yeah thats the point of forts. Actually there should always be players ready to sink you on skeleton fort. The ones that you are doing on your own, should be considered mistake ;)
It is global event after all!
Pretty much this, and how its been since the launch of the game. I still have highlights/screenshots of large 4-5 galleon pvp battles over a fort or two or even a stand off one where the best moment of both was taking the key right from under them and causing havoc thinking the others had it.
@kloszo uncontested forts are very rare indeed and you should count your blessings if it happens. I had it solo two days ago, wanted to try to do it solo, knew i should be on look out for other ships in between waves, nobody ever showed up to contest it. I completed it could turn in all the loot uncontested. That was also my first raid i ever did solo, so i got a very good feeling from it.
It is sometimes better to be alone then in group, cause the next day, when on galleon we where sank while bringing loot to our ship, cause nobody was on the lookout post!
@ufc-wolverin3 you clearly haven't had the troubles I've had yesterday yes I understand it's a global event and there will be PVP (as expected) but when a guy just keeps sailing back over and over and he's the only person who is challenging you it's very anoyying and unfair. Every time I get sunk in skull fort pvp I get spawned 1-2 min sail back also I still stand firmly on people should be kicked if they get sunk 2 times in a row by the same ship without sinking then in between the 2 sinks it would speed up PVP and clear servers to make room for more people instead of having a dead pve server right now there is no consequence for bieng sunken by the same person so they can just keep going back and making the skull forts take extremely long. When I was taking a skull fort for around 2 and a half hours from the same guy it was so frustrating and boring they would just keep coming back over and over again after bieng sunk so many times and we could get maybe 1 wave in every we sunk them.
Was it a Galleon that kept coming back tonight? There was a sloop also at the last fort.. if so, we took both of them down we were in the Brig and got all the loot.. we waited to see if you's would come back to share the loot.. but neither ship came back! It may not of been you but we seen 2 ships constantly fighting over 2-3 forts allllll night! Probably coincidence!
@x5h3ar3rx no it was a brig it was yesterday that all this happened (on different servers each time)
Forts are designed to encourage PVP, there is a massive beacon in the sky saying "here be loot come get it". If you see ships coming at you, the fort is doing what its meant to do, they aren't meant to be easy gimmes and if ships keep coming back they should be at a considerable disadvantage given that your supplies are probably more stocked and they have already been sunk, yes, sometimes its just pure attrition but that isn't that common.
I really doubt you had the same ship return 15 times in 2.5 hrs, it sounds like hyperbole to me. If true, you clearly need to change your methods of knocking over skelly forts because that is a massive amount of time to not come up with a result. Or, just swallow your pride and jump servers, you should easily find a less pvp heavy server in a matter of minutes (or less) with the way forts currently work.
A reasonably organised crew should be able to defend a fort from single or multiple attackers, you should see them coming from a long way out giving you opportunity to advance a bit with the fort and prepare to defend, the people I crew up with do it very often and so do hundreds or thousands of other crews.
This really is just a matter of getting better at what you're doing, or assessing the situation and cutting your losses and moving on, its incredibly rare to see the same ship come back more than a few times, so unless you are just incredibly unlucky and happen to be that one person that isn't exaggerating when they say forts are impossible, you'll probably be fine if you practise more or even take lessons from the tactics people use to overcome you at forts.
@xexot Ok.. sorry to hear the bad experience.. we tried to help that other crew but I think they left the server
Defeated ships should be forced to migrate on a new server.
By this, I assume you mean "any ship that sinks". What about a ship that is sunk by running into a rock on its way to pick up the Chest of Legends at the end of an Athena quest?
Forced migration to a new server is Draconian. I would agree that spawning far from point at which you sunk is fair.
@xexot man I miss those days, when I do forts I personally hope for that type of PvP action, it used to be the standard.
Respawning was even possible in line of sight of the fort and had battles between all six ships with like 5 galleons for hours. Making it a bit extreme, which caused a change to adapt to the current system.
Each server is different and more often than not I am lucky if one other ship even shows up.
Cloud events are supposed to be contested and controlled. It is why the loot is that good. To drive people to battle over the control of the area.
Enjoy the battle and the game play regardless of the end result.
My advice when dealing with stubborn pirates:
Priorities should be with keeping control of the area.We tend to only have 1 or 2 people (based on ship size) clearing waves between their visits and the others stock. The call everyone to defend is based on their distance/threat level.
Have your best fighter, or fighter in training, try to board by shooting themselves off and going for a swim to arrive before they expect them. To steal supplies and try to disrupt them or even sink them by calling in reinforcements if he is going on a rampage and gains control of the ship.
Still you can lose at some point and you can decide to go back.
Cloud events is part of the end game, world events after all. Try to enjoy the challenges they bring, as it is designed to bring crews to the same area and interact be it battle or team up.
Others have already given you the correct answers to your problem.
- It's a PvP event, expect it, enjoy it.
- You are taking too long to kill your opponent, you are underestimating how long it is actually taking them to return, you are taking way too long to clear the skeletons.
Honestly, you could easily leave one person to clear the waves and have the others defend your ship/sink the enemy. One person could clear the fort in under 20 minutes EASILY, much less than the 2.5 hours it took you.

No. We're talking about ships sunk in battle, you know.
