We had an alliance with 3 ships. It’s the smart thing to do in a lobby that isn’t toxic. We’re all making tons of loot together. We have filled two galleons with at least 50,000 loot and are heading back to port. One single sloot comes over and attacks. We sink it, however they both hop onto both of our galleons (one each) and duel gun switch kill every person on our ship. Every time we respawn every one of US would get at least one shot on the SINGLE person on our ship and he would two shot switch us. He then dumped all of our loot over board during this process and collected none of it. We have recordings of him shooting a wall and us taking damage which was extremely suspect to cheating. We kept going back and spent an hour preventing them from gathering any of the loot. My big question to all of this is how is trolling more enjoyable or profitable than just joining our already large alliance and profiting from everyone else’s work rather than spending an hour to troll 7 people and gain nothing. I’m about done with this community and this garbage game that creates this toxic style of gaming after only 2 weeks of playing. Congratulations you [Mod edited] human beings and your aweful life choices.
This game has filled my heart with hate
I'm sorry to hear that you had such an awful experience. Please do not think that this is normal, or acceptable, behavior within the SoT community. While stealing and killing is what we pirates do, cheating most certainly is not - you can report alleged cheaters by raising a support ticket on this site. Your recordings should bring you a bit of solace and justice, I think.
One thing I want to point out though is that I'm surprised to hear about the double-gunning - while certainly powerful, it's not good enough to kill more than 1 pirate if you've got a well-coordinated crew; the reload on both guns would leave them too vulnerable to counter-attack. That said, double-gunning is being looked at by the devs, so while its animations may be exploitable for now, it won't continue to be. I suggest taking a deep breath and sticking it out for a while longer or taking a short break and coming back once those changes are implemented.
The other day we got the same.. nice big ally but one sloop bully with double gun who was super fast somehow jumping and always hitting.. but then when i respawn on xbox i am slow black screen loading and can hear but cant play yet so im dead before i can defend.. so me and friend wait at ferry door and spawn together it helps :) then fight this manace for almost a hour for nothing really no one got loot... but kept ramming him and boarding and each time took 10 balls and 5 wood until he got nothing left or he was done joking around and finally quit -.- such players are not interested in loot , voyages or adventures they just want some action and shipbattle so i hope this arena thing will get them out adventure land where they only waste our time for nothing
@galactic-geek
The double gunning was the first we had encountered in this game. While we did not coordinate 4 spawns at the same time. We did have at least 3 at some points but we would be loading in black screened and some of us would be dead within a second of seeing the game again. It was almost impossible to even see the players name to get a recording but 2 of my compatriots managed to stay alive for longer than 2 seconds to get a glimps of their gamer tags. I will say that these two players by all our accounts NEVER missed whether they were looking directly at us or not.Cant see what they do or how.. i can only see xbox loading times are slow, friends xbox onex is a bit fastter and some pc maybe the fastest to load and in these fights with spawn killing they simply outmatch us in speed.. the black loading screen can take long sometimes its also killing during a kraken fight etc.
Never hoard loot onboard your ship even if your in an alliance especially if your new and not confident in pvp, that's just going to result in a bad night, whether that's getting sunk by a player/kraken/meg, secondly double gunning has more disadvantages than advantages which apart from the obvious hate it gets why I stopped using it, you have to coordinate as a team, guard ladders, if he's in the water shooting trying to get up your ladder, he's just wasting bullets that he can't get back unless he goes back to his ship or onto yours leaving him easy pickings, always keep your health at max by eating bannanas during pvp or you will definitely die by gun fire, be mobile and don't stand infront of them, try to swarm them together with the sword and cut them down, have one guy guarding the ammo box on your ship ready to cut them down when they go to resupply, you may take a few deaths trying this but you'll get them eventually, the fix is coming soon so don't stress too much

This is why cross play is killing this game.
in what way?
Sorry to hear this m8, but honestly it's one guy. Just Sync up when you spawn get a pistol and kill him.
I've had this happen to me too, some random guy who's really good at PvP starts hopping around killing people left and right. But here's the thing it's just one guy and you've already killed his respawn. Sure he can kill 1 person with 2 guns but has to take a looooong reload. You just have to be smart about it and gang up on him.As for cheating I don't believe anyone in their right mind cheats It's dumb to do so because you risk losing your game and your account. And even if they do they'll get minimal advantage.
Remember, the hit boxes in this game are rather large and don't have specific zones so hitting someone at high accuracy is really easy.Throwing loot overboard is kinda sad but hey I've sunk galleons solo with loot on board that couldn't be picked up too. Once you're in the fight you're in it to win it, remember it's just a game.
Ahoy there, sorry to read of your experience on the seas and I would say first of all that if you suspect anything which might be cheating, please raise a ticket via Support with as much detail as you can, so Rare are able to take a close look at what was going on at the time. Rare have a zero tolerance policy towards cheating.
Unfortunately, even with alliances, we're not entirely safe on the seas, so the usual precautions of handing in loot frequently, keeping a close eye out and so on, would still apply. From reading the forums and twitter it does seem that the seas are more hostile at the moment and extra care is needed, this does tend to change from time to time with the content which is added, some of which very much encourages and has resulted in much less aggressive crews.
I've edited your post as it contains profanity which isn't allowed on the forums.
Obscene and Vulgar Language
Swearing is not permitted on the Forums and a profanity filter is in place to block it. Attempts to bypass the profanity filter will result in a temporary ban from the Forums and a final warning. If the action continues, a permanent ban from the Forums will be issued.@mcgovery can agree I dont wanna match with xbox players when I encountter them they dont talk or use the chat wheel either all they do is shooting xD then sinking
Sounds like an awful experience. I always feel really annoyed when people bully just to bully, not even to steal your treasure. It's part of the game though, unless they were actually cheating, then they should be banned.
Hope you still want to sail on the sea of thieves. There are nice pirates out there, like me and my crew! :)
@sharkman920 i am very sorry for you i know its annoying but the community is great and you forget that this is a pirate themed game some people would be pirates for the challenge. but we have a good community you should see what is a true toxic community
@urihamrayne Using toddler level combat mechanics. Let's be real here, the only actual skill in this game for PvP is ship battles but no one does that cause it is easier to run around with dual guns, be able to use a exploit that the developers didn't think to remove during testing to get over to your ship, jump on board and just wM1. Cause you can refill ammo and change weapons from their ship. So it is totally possible to sword dash, kill one or two run down and change weapons and then prowl and wait for them to load in. Much skill there.
And the loading times vary. Sometimes you come back in 2 seconds. Sometimes you have to restart your game and that is no ones fault but the game itself.
Pros of using 2 guns: you kill a person with 2 consecutive shots
Cons of using 2 guns: you can't block sword hits therefore you are more suceptible to getting stunlocked to death; you have a huge downtime between reloading both guns; lose manouverability with the cutlass, meaning you got less tools to board an enemy ship (you still get lucky if your opponents stand still); if you run out of ammo and can't reach the ammo box, you are a dead man walking; can't run while realoading, meaning even less manouverability during downtimes; if you miss your initial combo, you have to pray for every religion that your opponents don't just kill you right then and there.
Sounds to me 7 people got outplayed, rekd, obliterated, destroyed, sent to the shadow realm, ruled and outskilled.
@sharkman920
Hello Sir. Cheating or better said cheated upon is a very frustrating and gamebreaking experience, for every one. But not everyone cheats ...Now , first of all, hoarding over 50.000 gold on one or both Galleons, isn't exactly very wise . Even if they wouldn't used cheats ,you can still lose your wealth to other things , like a Kraken/ Meg combination or Meg / Skeleton combination and so on. Hoarding and getting that "stubborn" feel of " i don't want to cash in to be able to make a picture of all those shinies" have costed many crew the verbal gallows...There is always something or someone better or in this case , better at cheating to destroy that dream...Cheaters should be dealt with and taken out of the game , wich i fully agree with you . But...i don't agree with you that this community is toxic!!...You come to this Forum to literrally blame us all , as players ,for your bad experience and that is wrong. Especially in this place , the majority of this Forum stands for honest fun and adventure , not for cheating and macros and whatever else is there to destroy the integrity of this game...Calling this game a garbage game comes indeed from the frustrating experience you had , because deep inside ,you know that you like this game , it's just the cheating that has snapped you off this game...Rare get's more and more reports about people who can shoot through the hull with a Flintlock or Eye of Reach and i'm sure they are already trying to find a "cure" for this...Not one developer likes to see his/her game being killed by cheaters . Nor do they want that a majority of the well meaning community get's the blame for it...i can put my hand on my heart and say that i have never cheated in this nor any other game , and together with me , i can gather an army of likeminded pirates and players from other games that play their games in the way it was developed ...
i do understand your frustration, believe me , the times i have been shot through hulls or got spawnkilled would turn yer hair white , but i don't abandon this game, nor do i call a good meaning community certain words...We all suffer from this , and certainly in this Forum we would like to see a solution to this problem , but we know we have to give Rare time to sort this out and we certainly don't bash a whole forum for it .
Well sounds like you got schooled and that might be annoying. But did you ever consider how the players you stole from feel? You and 3 ships of friends constantly destroy solo ships out having fun, then 2 dudes wreck you and you are mad? Haha. This is why i need PvE. To not deal with your band of thieves nor the double gun "cheaters"

Some of us don't play in open crews...
@sharkman920 So you're complaining about being robbed by pirates in a game about pirates?
Don't condemn them being pirates, the only issue here is the double tap.
The only suggestion I have to the devs about this is to get rid of the double tab. Don't remove the ability to equip two guns just remove the ability for other pirates to reload ammo on an enemy ship. Eventually they'd run out of ammo requiring them to use a sword.
@mcgovery where did I say I play on open lul, when I try to create alliance with people I want an actual response lol
@sharkman920
After waking up sober and reading through these comments I have a few items to address and respond calmer too.
Yes my drunken rage pushed me to talk bad on the whole community. Please forgive me for this.
I would like to explain a little further about the loot though. We are well aware of the fact that we shouldn’t hoard loot. Our two teams had 4 maps with 6+ chests on them all next to each other. We acquired this loot fairly quick and never passed up an outpost to drop any off.
Also we do not fire upon other players until they decide they want a fight (which never happened up to this point because who wants to take on two galleons working together). This sloot rolled up and fired a few shots at us involving special cannon balls and then we sank it. We were all still flying alliance flags in the hopes that more would join us and profit. As we fixed our ship and prepared to sail for an outpost both ships reported near instant deaths. Before we knew it we were all waiting on the death ship. Now while we are not the best pirates and most of us were drunk. What happened afterwards only fueled our rage. We would die INSTANTLY 80% of the time loading back in. After about 5 minutes of this we coordinated respawns somewhat. Some of us managed to get a few shotgun blasts on them and even hit them with a sword a few times. While it seemed they were invincible I’m sure we just barely got each of them down to a sliver of health. The problem was you could try to hit them and then you would hear a shot and die right away. Some of us managed to switch up to double guns nearly 10 minutes into this massacre. We must be terrible though because the 3 attempts I had I landed 1 shot. Again, these guys NEVER missed, not once.
Throughout all of this we didn’t have the wherewithal to record until near the end of the fight. 2 people managed to catch one of their names as he jumped around and instant killed us. I’m hoping to get these recordings today when I see them online and find out if they have already sent them in or not. I’ll post the videos if I find out how as soon as I get them. Unfortunately I only managed to record a death/respawn/and instant death again without a name showing up.
My big question however still stands with this community. We low level players tend to fly the alliance flag and hope to profit together. I’ve joined many Xbox parties as people loot our ship to see if they want to ally after they are done pillaging us so we can at least all profit when we part ways. Most of the time I just hear people say “no, get rekt”. Makes no sense to me why they have this attitude that gets them less loot and joy for the suffering of noobs. That is the part of the game I see as toxic.
One of these times someone refused they had someone hide on our crows nest while we sailed off to an island with zero cannonballs and material. We dug up 5 chests. Then he jumped down with a barrel and scuttled our ship to take our freshly plundered chests right after already having pillaged our ship. While genius, you can see how this is absolutely infuriating. I imagined this game being ship to ship combat which is so much fun. But instead it seems to be filled with trolls who know how to outplay you in gunplay and derive joy from suffering rather than profit.People need to start to understand that everything in this game is meaningless; and that meaninglessness is meant to be the fun aspect. It SHOULD NOT matter to lose gold... IT"S USELESS! What is the gold for? Cosmetics... Get over it. Don't run from fights... FIGHT! Don't complain about losing... It's useless.
I mean the devs went as far as increasing the payout and decreasing the costs of cosmetics. Just stop crying about losing. Losing is part of any game. But this game, people get carried away with their emotions about losing. GET WOKE SHEEPLE!@boomtownboss
This was less of a fight and more like getting into a fist fight with Floyd mayweather and hoping it’s over after he knocks you out only to find that he keeps resuscitating you to knock you out again . 0/10 would not fight mayweather again.@sharkman920
"more like getting into a fist fight with Floyd mayweather"
Are you kidding me? It was 8 vs 2... All you had to do was kill them once... Just wait and all spawn at the same time. It's not my fault you don't know tactics. And it doesn't even matter. Poor spoiled baby has to do another little voyage to buy your little hull skin. You lost a round, get a new galleon and sail on.@boomtownboss said in This game has filled my heart with hate:
GET WOKE SHEEPLE!
Your post was fine until I read this. We are not sheep; we are people and players with our own opinions and playstyles, just like you, and you need to learn some respect - you get woke!
@boomtownboss
Your missing the point of that analogy. We tried for 15 minutes to kill these 2 guys only to be instant killed the moment we came out of black screen. There’s nowhere else to spawn. Just back into an instant death. Yes maybe we should have just scuttled and moved on but who wants to just let people get away with that? 7 people in a party who are very angry and very drunk. We wanted nothing but to rob them of their joy after subjecting us to that massacre. Pure unbridaled rage is all we were left with.@yelmurc
I understand the concept of the game. We get that you’ll lose and be robbed sometimes. Just not by one guy who is likely cheating and instant killing a crew over and over again just for the joy of ruining our night.@sharkman920 "very drunk"
Yeah, I think I heard enough. You're a grown adult who loses a game, can't accept defeat, is intoxicated, and you expect the game and community to bend and adapt to your will... Seriously, your biggest enemy here is your own stubbornness. And, they can't double shoot everyone at once. Try waiting and all spawning at the same time.
@Galactic-Geek Sorry. I read so many complaints that are generally people unable to accept defeat I got carried away.@boomtownboss
I hope this happens to you so you can fully understand this instead of discounting my tale due to alcohol. This player was shot and stabbed many times over and continued to instant kill us. There was no fight. You have 2 seconds to make a move and get a hit in. He’s not close to your spawn point for a sword swing. Good luck. You just assume your the all mighty pirate tactician here who could win in this fight. My friends and I consider ourselves in the top players across most games. First person shooters we’re all over 2.5 k/d spreads for battlefield/cod/pubg. We all like rts games and coordinate well. 2 of us are in the top 10 in halo wars 2. We are not idiots and we are not terrible at games. While sea of thieves is new to us this was not just some clumsy uncoordinated massacre. We had 15 minutes to try everything we could think of. Please tell me again how this is some unjustified complaint about us being rekd by someone who’s just better than us. Your comment makes me want to learn how to cheat and haunt you on the seas till I see your story on here.@sharkman920 It HAS happened to me. I play this game A LOT. It happened to me many times as I prefer to solo sloop. I get ganged up on and sometimes I win but sometimes I get that player I can't out play. Guess what I do...
Your telling me that 2 people massacred 8 people. Thus named people on said galleons were in your words "Really Drunk." The only plausable reason these 2 individual people could accomplish such a feat is they are cheating? When alcohol, known to have negative effects to cognition and fine motor skills, can play a role in how well a person can play games.
Seems legit.
