One of my biggest problems on this game is finding people to play with, I join so many games just to find a crew with no mic, or childish, and or just doesn't corporate. Adding couch co-op would solve this for me, and probably everyone else. This game just seems like a couch co-op game you play with friends on one ship, yes it's still online, but halo, call of duty, and other game developers have been able to do this with their games. I think this would be a really cool feature, but I think the limitations are technical rather than by choice. Considering the game runs at 30fps on Xbox, I doubt their is enough available power to render a second perspective while still getting a good experience.
However, considering Sea of Thieves will (hopefully) be supported far into the future, I could imagine a next generation Xbox having enough power to run split screen, which would be cool to see.
In my opinion this feature could engage new players to buy their own version of the game. Many people started playing because convinced to play by a friend, with this opportunity the game could be tested and played together on the couch. I think that once you try this game with a passionate fellow you will purchase it for sure. That’s why rare should add the Coop in split screen.
Last but not least this could perfectly work for playing with a friend in two on a sloop in arena and pvp like playing Halo together And many other games.

Wouldn't that cut your fps by half, by double-rendering the game? if the game runs at 30 fps, i guess it would be 15 fps per screen, lol.
Perhaps ask microsoft to implement a less demanding 1080p mode for the Xbox first?

But...I played with my ex-gf splitscreen...two XBoxes, 2 TV's, just bought 1 copy online and shared it...tadaa, couch co-op

The xbox will never be able to handle this game split screen. The game struggles to handle it now when a couple ships get near eachother. Unless u want it to look like a clunky ps 2 game.Even halo 5 couldnt handle it without a huge graphics loss. Thats why they didnt add it to that garbage of a game.
