So I learned that my Game Pass is apparently still active, which means I can play Sea of Thieves! Now I've missed the Cursed Sails update and the new ship, so there's a lot I'm at a loss on but I have the general idea of things y'know? A friend mentioned the Gilded voyages for the holidays so I took up arms and decided why not!
The loot seems promising right?
After spending a ton of time trying to find where each islands are--apparently months away means I forgot what most of the islands look like and HOLY HECK THERE IS SO MUCH MORE. Anyway I finally take off and head to the two closest islands.
One of which is Maruader's Arch. Which spawned a skeleton ship while I was digging up 8 captains Chests apparently, since the music started HARD and I was very, very confused as to why that happened. I wasn't aware that skeleton ships spawned on islands like skeleton forts, but now I know right?
So I'm figuring something is up at the least with the battle music and I want to get out of there fast because I don't know what is up. I take my loot, 8 captains chests, 1 seafairers chest, a snake, and a surprising find of a banana crate. Good group of things to hand off.
I've never seen the ships spawn before, so as I'm sailing down to Galleons Grave I get to hear the noise, see the ship burst up from the sea and my first thought was:
"Holy heck." *note, heck is not the word I used but censorship is real
My second?
"WHO SPAWNED A GHOST SHIP?!"
Because I'm completely ignorant of how these things work. In my panic I tried to get the winds to sail, but I couldn't. I was killed instantly with one of the new cannon balls and struggled to get back to my ship to save her. I worked tirelessly to fill the holes and the cracks, tried to readjust the sails when I could, tried to get to safety--but I didn't.
She sank. 8 Captains Chests from a gilded voyage, 1 Seafairer's chest that I found randomly, a snake, and a banana crate gone within the spawn of five minutes. I'm alone on these seas as I have no friends online. I'm in a sloop.
I was decimated.
The loot was already gone by the time I returned to where I sank, which wasn't far from Marauder's Arch. I lost it all.
Welp, more maps, more chests I suppose? I pray I won't fall afoul of any more of these horrific monstrosities that plague the seas. I already saw the Megalodon I think? She swam around me but didn't bite. I remember thinking:
"THE HECK IS THAT?!" *note heck is not the word I used but censorship is real
Because she looked so very different and so very small. Was she the Megalodon? I can't be certain. I didn't want to tangle with her.
