I feel the need to write this up as a topic of it’s own finally, because of my latest experience (as of 5 minutes ago). I joined a brig crew, fresh tavern spawn. And both crew mates had the tutorial paper in their hands. Mmkay.
Let me start off by saying I’ve been a pirate legend for months, and I’ve plateaued at Athena 6 some time ago. So I’m quite experienced you could say.
Now, with that being said. I would like to point out that the matchmaking, is pure garbágio.
And here’s why I think that.
At night when I try to close my eyes, all I see are brown sailor jackets and sandals. When I finally fall asleep, I have nightmares about chasing other ships, and never catching them, only rocks. Lots and lots of crashing, rocks, sinking. I often wake up in cold sweats shouting things like, “pitiful voyage!!” Or, “why has the anchor been dropped for the 3rd time!!” Or, “I need help ang- ah,[mod edited] forget this.”
My point, simply, is that matching experienced people up with newcomers every. Single. Time. Just doesn’t make sense. I could always help them you might say, and that’s true. But, I don’t want to. I want to sail with likeminded pirates who are on the same or at least somewhat same level as me.
The current matchmaking is like throwing a college student into a kindergarten class. I understand there’s lfg and fleets and whatever. But I honestly just wanna hop on, look for a match and get tossed with people that are as experienced as me.
It needs work. I’d hate to find the same issue in arena where my team’s competence is 100% necessary.
