@guepard4 My dearest apologises
Yours truly, superman
@guepard4 There are indeed rules about things like personal attacks! This is a warning, please let's not be rude or disparage people with mental illness.
Derogatory Language
Name calling, personal attacks and using derogatory language against Community Members, Rare Employees, Global Moderators or Deckhands is not acceptable. Using such language will result in a warning, then temporary ban from the Forums and a final warning. If the action is persistent or increasingly aggressive, a permanent ban from the Forums will be issued.

Are you saying that I can't make personal attacks but other users can attack to me?
Please clarify it because in other post someone was attacking me and another deckhand said there was no problem.
@guepard4 I can't promise every Deckhand's judgment of what comes off as personal is the same, but: no, users are not exempt from the rules and if you feel someone is getting overly personal in a thread, please report it.
@rayzback I love rowboat races, I've been wanting a race with a crew in rowboats since i heard about em
Alright just had a perfect encounter to prove the rowboats' worth. Regardless of not knowing when is a good time to board an island that is erupting, they've proven me their worth in the base islands. Just finished a Stronghold at Crow's Nest Fortress with my crew, had to fight off two sloops several times during the raid.
Around when we sank them both for the second time the captain spawns, we had our rowboat and one of their's from the beginning of the battle parked on the shoreline. One of the Sloops was spotted from our crow's nest and normally we may have ran with the key with the risk of the second Sloop coming as well but we took the chance with the rowboats. Loaded the 6 most expensive items onto the first boat and had the crew row back to the Galleon. They docked and sailed to the nearest outpost while I stayed behind and loaded the trinkets and remaining loot onto the other rowboat.
The Sloop gave chase to my crew but with wind advantage the Galleon was leagues ahead by the time they arrive at the outpost. By the time they arrived I had already rowed half way to Ancient Spire. They sold the Stronghold loot got back to the Galleon in time to defend against the Sloop. They sank them again and finished selling the loot while I rowed ashore and unloaded the remaining goods undetected by any other pirates
1- You wrote that they are useful under eruptions because you know some secret magic strategies to save rowboats from rocks and make them invulnerable to rocks is not a good idea.
2- I tell you that there is no any way to avoid them
3 -You do not write any proof of it and you leave. You come back after a while and you tell us a story that is not related about using it in a "normal" island.
Ok...
So, we've been experimenting with rowboats and came to a few conclusions...
Rowboat cannot be hit by debris and rocks from an active volcano IF a player is OPERATING it. I don't know if sitting on it is enough or you must be at the oars. But we approached an island by rowboat during a volcanic eruption and debris were flying everywhere around without ever hitting us. My crew started searching the island for treasures, while I waited on the rowboat near the shore. Volcano totally ignored me for a few minutes. It seems like the rowboat has some kind of invisible shield that covers a small area around it. Debris don't land there.
I got killed and sunk by a falling rock the moment I left the oars and started the dancing emote on the rowboat.
You can "screen" a ship with the rowboat's invisible shield if you keep it near enough.
We had a galleon anchored in range of an active volcano. Debris stopped hitting the ship when one of my friend "parked" the rowboat just against the galleon's hull. He stayed at the oars for a while.
Debris started hitting us again the moment he left the oars.
We'll do more experiments tomorrow. If the "shield bubble" theory is true, then it's easy to cheat the game by parking the main ship near the shores under a volcano and keeping a crew member on the rowboat next to it.
Plese feel free to disprove me, wanna hear about your experiences.
@arcangelo87 I suspect you may have simply been lucky. It seems there's a high degree of luck involved. I think a rowboat getting hit by volcanic debris is probably on the unlikely side, but that doesn't mean it can't happen a few times in a row. Such an experience would naturally lead the victim to feel the system is broken. But chances are, it was just a few bad rolls. It's like rolling snake-eyes three times in a row. It's incredibly unlikely, but it can and does happen once in a while.
Of course, I have no more inside information than anyone else, so I'm simply hypothesizing. Usually, the truth is found somewhere in between the extremes.
@captain-red-maw shame, I got both ;)

Maybe, but it was really strange. Debris always hit bigger ships with godly precision. I'll try again tomorrow and update here.
I also think they should be immune to impact damage (ships, shores, docks, ecc) vulcanos and gaysers, they should take damage from cannon balls and explosive barrels.
@Arcangelo87 i did not try it yet, i guess is better then nothing but in my opinion will be not a great choice as design. In this way you force a player to stay in the rawboat doing nothing.
@guepard4 I am sure it can, just fyi on the row boat I haven't even been close to getting rained on by a fifty ton fire breathing boulder yet. But try coming in with the sloop and its all hands duck and weave with close calls and hits.
Yes, I know its dooms day when hit but maybe I have been very lucky?
@jonavuka Not immune at all, I just think the row boats are not target like a sloop having to duck and weave with close calls or hits almost every time I get close enough. I have had a close call and all with the falling sky, but it kept it real exciting and after three or four trips to the raining volcanoes I never sloop in anymore.
