Launching My Seven Year-Old Daughter Into A Life Of Piracy With Sea Of Thieves - Ben Bayliss - Article

  • For @Sabordier ......

With the news of young Liam attaining Pirate Legend status, it's also heartwarming to read this experience of a father and daughter braving the seas for the first time.

  • Such a lovely story! Thank you for sharing it!

  • aye hear hear drink up

  • I will add to this topic, my 7 years old son Davide is really close to hit the pirate legend status, he is at 48/47/47. Almost there, he is so excited 😄

  • Not to diminish the story in any way but isn't this game a 12+ title?

If so, promoting that a 7 year old plays it on the games official forum is a little odd.
Isn’t it also a direct contradiction to ESRB regulatory oversight on marketing?

  • Kudos on a heartwarming tale and a huge Emoclew to all the fresh lil scallywags out there.

@vexed-anemone I think the ESRB is for retailers use mainly as it is indeed illegal for anyone to sell an ESRB rated product to someone under the specified age.
However there are no laws that i know of that stop anyone of any age consuming said ESRB rated product, as it falls under Parental control.

  • @vexed-anemone I don't know exactly how work with the laws, he sail just with me, never alone, and because we are Italians he cannot understand the bad language that come out from some players, so to be honest is fine for me that we play the game together, the graphics is cartoonish and the game is no to violent from my pont of view.

  • @ixxolos In addition to regulating to whom the retailers may sail, it is also a guidance for parents. What parents do with that is their responsibility. Caveat Emptor.

Basically, if anyone has their 7 year old playing the game and attempts to use that to chide other players with regard to their behavior... no, you let a 7 year old play a 12+ game. If your kid picks up some bad language and says he/she learned it in SoT... that's on the parent who bought them the game. Beyond that, it's no biggie.

  • What kind of Father would evolve his daughter in a life piracy?
    Strange seas we're living in...

(This is a joke post btw)

  • Lol that's great! I have a 7 and 3 year old daughter that play the game, the 3yo not as much but she watches a lot. My 7yo is a pro and my 3yo is absolutely hilarious on the headset. We mute everyone else and just let her go. Sides hurt every time. Think we'll have a Pirate Legend party they arrive
