Alliance Player/Ship Cap

  • Having a player cap on Alliances will probably need to happen. Likely a number based on total ship player capacity and not actual player count.

As the most ships I've seen on a server is 5 or 6, the servers don't seem that big in terms of player count. So it would likely have to be limited to 8 players per Alliance based on Ship Max Crew. 2 Galleons, 2 Brigantines and a Sloop, 4 Sloops, Etc.

This observation is based on hearing a story from someone I usually play with on how an entire server Allied together on Saturday to farm Cursed Sails ships continuously. I'm good with Alliances, but a server wide Alliance that removes any in-game threat from both PvE and PvP seems broken to me.

    Absolutely agree.

  • No.

Change servers. Do as you will, but don't tell others how to play.

    Again, no.

  • Sorry but I have to disagree. It's hard enough to ally with ships not being able to completely trust one another as is. I say if the entire server actually forms an alliance, it should be allowed. It would help give all of us who aren't Legend yet an opportunity to rank up faster without spending dabloons.

Besides, any loot sold by the alliance is only 50% distributed unless sold directly by your crew. There's nothing wrong with that and putting a cap on alliances isn't needed.

If players within a server decide to create multiple alliances (at max 3 different ones) ...then so be it. If the server decides to make 1 giant alliance, it should be allowed.

  • @t0ny-xvx I agree.

  • Just let people play how they want to play. If they made 10 million gold in one session its not going to affect anyone in any way, shape or form.

  • While I feel that server capacity needs to be increased with the current alliance system so that there will be multiple alliances on a server, something that is unlikely to happen with just 6 ships max, I also think the current alliances system works really really well in giving every player what he/she wants.
There were many people that wanted PVE servers, now we have a possibility for PVE servers but you have to put in the work to create them and there will be always a chance of betraying. It's actually a pretty nifty solution.

  • I was in a 5 or 6 ship alliance...once; and it was awesome. I didnt get rich due to the percentage, but that level of teamwork is fun and rare. There will always be an equal opposition (pvp).
