hi im just wondering if anyone can help me when the Sea of Thieves’ Cursed Sails update comes out will the skeleton pirate ships be permanent in the game.

Yes, they will, they will be free to roam the Sea of Thieves to take on just like the Megladon or Kraken.
@samrichards90 just to add to what has already been said...
There is a campaign, much as there was for The Hungering Deep whereby we were sent to a specific location to summon the Hungering One.
I would assume given the notes provided by Rare that this will be the same for the Cursed Sails - there will be a mission or two for each region to take on a cursed ship in a specific location, then once the event ends they will just roam as Meg and her sisters do now!
