New Ships and Ship Customization

  • By the looks of the recent surveys, a large majority of the playerbase want more types of ships and ship customization.
In terms of this, I would like to present some ideas that I believe would to well in the game:
    New Ships:
    The Frigate
This ship is made for around 5 or 6 players maximum. It has almost the same dimensions as the sloop (an upper, middle, and lower deck), although it is slightly wider. It has 3 sails, along with a 4th triangular sail at the front of the ship. It has a room for the captain, and its crow's nest is slightly lower than the Sloop's. Its most unique component is that its cannons are placed on both the upper and middle decks (3 per side, 6 per deck, 12 cannons total). This would allow players to chose between the cannons above and below deck based on their advantages. Lower cannons make it easier to hit ships below the waterline, but provide less visibility and angle when aiming.
    The Man Of War
This one is a little different; It's more of a limited time event/quest. In some tavern somewhere will be a guy who, after tasking you to complete a set of skeleton related riddles, teleports you onboard a massive Man Of War to fight a skeleton fleet of 2 galleon-sized ships and 1 Skeleton Man Of War. You are teleported along with 9 other players across multiple servers to the battle, which takes place in the same seas that the Ferry of the Damned roam. You and your sudden crewmates must man the ship and either sink all 3 skeleton ships or kill the skeleton captain aboard each one. Doing so teleports you back to your respected servers and islands and rewards you with gold (this mission can be completed multiple times during the event). Completing it for the first time rewards you with access to a smaller Man Of War but only upon becoming a Pirate Legend.
    Ship Customization:
Us pirates would like to decorate the interior of the ship along with the exterior. Decorations could include Paintings, Trophies and Maps that can be bought or gained from defeating monsters and completing quests.
Also would it be possible to add an upright piano to the ship? Where pirates can sit down on and play music such as The Entertainer (Scott Joplin).
Also Also, can you add the option to sell items in your inventory for a large fraction of the price? Note that standard and quest items can't be sold.

  • Man of War ships i dont think players should have as I think the Galleon is just fine and big enough.
I would however for customization like some interior options, that would be cool.

Also ive always thought of having the Ship Model in the Captains quarters to be a "ship customization" access point. As Galleons dont always spawn at outposts.

Frigate is interesting, but I'd like some more variety such as perhaps 1 or 2 mast Junk ships with their fan-style sails. Something alittle more spicy.

Your idea of a "man of war event" is interesting. I'm not sold on the teleporting method though, id propse making a Man'o'War skeleton ship to pop up in session and be treated like a Skeleton Fort with a flashing cloud over it. And if its not attacked/raided it just goes undersea again.

  • People want bigger ships because they have more then 4 people to play with (same for me). I don't mind having a ship that has a huge windup time and is enrmously sluggish but can carry 6 people.

This would make it easy to defend (you have 6 people) but hard to chase with to balance your advantage in firepower and manpower.
