Changing tides anyone?

  • Finished sailing tonight and wondered how difficult it would be to add a changing tide cycle to the game.

    It would make approaching the islands and outposts a more interesting task especially for those who are getting very familiar with the map. This could even tie in to using the rowboat more effectively in places where there is extensive shallow areas at low tide for example.

    Even if it wasn’t a dramatic change, if it meant keeping it simpler to add it would be cool, but they could also really run with it and make a cave or two that are only accessible at low tide, and flooded at other times.... another reason to pull out the old pocket watch

    The obvious downside is people complaining about yet another real-world mechanic they need to understand and take into account.

  • This could be cool, but I don't see the worth of it vs how much effort it would take to add this. For however much time this would take to design, add, and work out the bugs, Rare employees could be working on new locations/enemies. Would be hilarious to see beached galleons though.
