Cross play and switch possibilities?

  • Hello! , we have seen form E3 that microsoft and nintendo are "kinda" pushing a bromance in order to fight playstation 4, and this philosophy is kinda working, just think about minecraft and fortnite possibilities to crossplay pc xbox and switch, is doing amazing results and its totally pushing into a corner sony. Do you think this philosophy could be used for sea of thieves too? like port the game to switch and allow a crossplay between switch pc and xbox? it would be another massive success for nintendo/xbox and a massive slap to sony's face ahahah. Do you think this is possible?

    Hey,

setting aside the fact, that it's a first party dev made game, I don't know if it'd even be possible to achieve this. The game heavily relies on xbox services, features and servers. Not sure how that would port over to switch.

  • @sir-lotus ummm i mean yeah the first party development could be a problem, but regarding to the port i think its totally doable, i mean switch is not really much weaker than original xbox one, i think sea of thieves could run on it... sure it would take a lot of work!

  • It could probably run on it. However, my #1 Microsoft-Nintendo collab wish is for Banjo-Kazooie in Smash Ultimate.

After that, if they want to do Sea of Thieves Switch, I'm all about it. :D

I would tottally buy an extra copy if the game for the switch :o
    10/10 should definitely do this

  • @snipahhh

oh I was talking about the software side of things, but hw would be an issue as well. Switch only has 4gb ram and is running on an ARM processor, which is a completely different architecture than xbox or pc.

  • The game has a hard enough time running without bugs on the xbox.. Switch version isn't going to happen, despite how much I love the switch.

  • @sir-lotus Yeah i can see there are difference in the machines, but we saw how doom was ported and wolfenstein and skyrim was ported on the switch so i dont see why sea of thieves couldt get ported too... also i think sea of thieves has a good engine which is very adaptable, it runs on some potato laptop so it could run on potato switch too with enough work ahahahah

yeah this would look like a sick collaboration too :D
