What happened to the cannon skeleton nerf?

  • Everyone is talking about how the skeletons need a nerf on their pistol accuracy and that its coming hopefully in this next patch...
remember way back when , when everyone was crying that the cannon skeletons needed a nerf? Well , we DID get it, but is it just me, or does it seem like that after they had to do a patch roll back, that the nerf on the cannon skellies went away also?

The last few weeks when I have rolled up to a fort, our boat proceeds to get absolutely destroyed by the fort skeletons, it wasnt always like this... Sure you can still get up to the fort, but your going to take multiple shots coming in, and possible be getting hit after hit after hit from the one cannon close to your boat... and your captain might get hit right in the face.. but yeah, you can still make it past them.
    Anyone else notice it?
Do they need to revisit the cannon skelly nerf? They have been able to nail whoever is steering the boat with no problem the last few forts...
Or am I crazy and its fine now and was way worse before hand?
    Thanks

  • @shuoink honestly. I think skellys need a limit on their cannon balls. Give each one 10 and call it a day.

  • @stubbierbell598 True, forgot to mention they seem to be rapid fire shooting those things non stop

  • @shuoink

I was wondering, much like with the sharks during Hungering Deep, if there has been an increase in skellie activity due to the Thrones event. Just a thought.

  • I've noticed it as well - the nerf helped but in the last week or two it has gotten insane again. The accuracy is crazy - like even from miles away their cannonballs go super high, curve in mid air and still hit you. Something's definitely up like.

  • @katttruewalker
:O if that was true, you just blew my mind...
You HAVE noticed it too then...

  • @shuoink

Well I don't know if it's because I've been doing different quests, but the fort skellies do seem a bit more enthusiastic than usual - we'll likely know for sure next update?

I dread to think what they might be like during Cursed Sails if that's the case...... all we did was sit on a few of their thrones....

  • @peteloaf777 Crazy accuracy? They barely hit anything that moves.

  • The guns are the real issue.

Cannons aren't even a concern anymore unless you're raised sails and trying to slow park an island.

In which case.. send someone over to deal with it.

The cannon skeles are nowhere near as accurate as they used to be... they need to still hit something every once in a while.

Maybe its when I am on a sloop i notice it more.. seems like on a galleon you are getting hit but its always second deck so you dont pay attention to it as much.. i could be totally wrong, hence why i am asking, but in my OPINION it seems like they are a lot more aggro in the past little while than they used to be. I noticed a huge difference right after they nerfed it, but it seemed like after the last few patches that it went back to normal. Appreciate the feedback. You can definitely still make it past them, but on a sloop the last few forts whoever has been driving has always taken a hot metal load to the face and weve had 5-6 holes in the boat by the time we get past the cannons.
Galleon, no big deal as its all second deck.
    Thanks for the feedback fellas!

  • @shuoink I feel like forts have always been like that though. Especially with how close to them we get.

You'll definitely notice the difference from the old ones at regular islands.

  • @shuoink I guess you're right...thank god, they made it like before

  • There are two types of skeletons it appears:
    Fort and non fort.

Fort skeletons retain their accuracy closer and do have a bit more misses at long range than before.

Regular island skeletons have a significant miss chance far away, but can hit closer a good amount of times.

This is nerfed from before, and is at a good spot imo.

  • @shuoink I do most of my forts on a sloop. So no, this isn't a galleon over sloop issue.

  • I haven't seen this. But if I had to guess given the way I've seen them fire. It looks like they pick a random spot in a "spread" and fire there. If that is the case it would all come down to luck if you get hit or not. Due to that randomness getting hit repeatedly like that is just an unlucky spread of their cannon fire. I've personally not seen them be nearly as accurate as they were in the past after the update.

    I completely agree

  • Yeah, the skeletons needs an ammo limit or an accuracy reduction.
But I just watched a 2 man ganker sloop get annihilated by a Skull Fort as it chased a Galleon over there(I was chasing the sloop for a thing that happened earlier). So there are times when their aimbot and unlimited ammo is handy =D

ooooooooooooo heckkkkkk. hey, thats pretty good ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • They seem about the same to me from weeks past. Now before they nerfed them we tried to approach a skellie fort and the aim was very accurate and cannonballs killed both us and by the time we spawned back our sloop sunk. We never tried again. Then when they nerfed the cannon skellies we tried again and we made it without either of us dying, and have since. Sure our sloop takes multiple hits, but we have yet to sink and not both of us dies. I also think Keel Haul Fort is the worst for trying to approach. We seem to have an easier time with Shark Fin Camp and Crow’s Nest Fortress... Crow’s Nest seems the easiest.

I did more that sit, ha ha ha.

  • The skeletons did receive a nerf and they still seem nerfed to me. Before the nerf, they were nailing ships from way out and kept hammering the hull with incredible accuracy until you moved out of their cone of death. Now, they are lucky to get 25%. Around the forts are a different story. Fort skeletons never received a nerf that I could detect and they are still just as deadly.

  • They definitely seem more aggressive to me lately. I hate to admit it, but they actually sank me yesterday. I was approaching an island and they started pounding my sloop. Maybe they were just lucky, but by the time I got out of their line of fire it was too late to save the ship. There must’ve been at least five holes in my hull. Nasty!
