Please for the love of god give us an option to turn off crossplay

@commando-slippy Ya I've seen the arguments and they are ridiculous. Any system that favors any group of people is going to be rabidly defended by those people, this is just human nature. The only way I can make my point valid is to cancel my pass which I just did.

I love this game and the crew I play with but I'm done until this is an option.

This seems to be their response. All I can do is cancel my one little pass and if this p****s off anyone else as much as me I encourage you to join

@teamhilgo I've been asking for this since launch. The problem is Rare has taken a huge step in making a FPS crossplay compatible. Xboxers who haven't encountered PC players yet will encounter them soon and start joining this thread.

What's worse for me is that us Xbox players pay for our online experience, monthly. PC doesn't. If they want crossplay then allow us to lapse our gold subscriptions and continue playing OR allow us to have a say in how we wish to play our game.

Rare just needs to start watching the youtube videos of PC players farming xbox players. I don't know how they could have thought that crossplay on an FPS game would work. I don't think they even tested it. It's clearly not balanced.

@teamhilgo agreed. I'm 2 levels away from PL. Once I hit it I will play the events and leave the game to collect dust until the next event comes along.

We sail with a brilliant, experienced xbox crew every night and it takes all for of us to kill one mediocre PC player that just jumps around eating loads of bananas and swiping his sword.

It's so bad that we have had to adapt our strategy when we get boarded by a PC player (and you can spot them from a mile away): we drop our own anchor and jump over board with pistols and sniper rifles just so we can slow down his movements if he follows us into the water - and taking away his ability of using a sword. You CANNOT kill a mediocre pc player while swordfighting.

@betsill if I have to guess as to why they haven't done the optional crossplay: They pioneered this crossplay in a genre which no other developer has dreamt of (purely because it was VERY unbalanced). Other devs are watching and waiting to see whether this crossplay on a competitive FPS can be pulled off. They can't back track now and admit that it was unbalanced. They will likely keep the crossplay on - which will eventually lead to xboxers being NPC players to the PC elites.

I'm glad someone linked the crossplay megathread - someone mentioned (can't remember who exactly) in one of the threads to "report" the game from the xbox dashboard for false advertising because of the "forced crossplay". The game mentions crossplay, but one would assume that an FPS game would have optional crossplay available.

It's such a shame, as I love this game dearly. Went as far as to buy the wife a new TV and sea of thieves controller (each of us got one now), but everytime we get boarded by one of these guys it ruins the experience entirely. Let skill separate us from winning and losing - not hardware and input devices.

@shaynoinsano aye, we have a few PC player friends. But they will soon want to only play with other PC players as us consolers are too potato compared to thier slick moves. We have two regular PC players in our crew who act as our vanguard (boarding party) and it is insane what these guys can do.

There are some reasons, but the majority, if not all, are fairly comprehensively refuted in that thread too.

It would be helpful if Rare released some stats on the differences, but the longer they take to come out, the more likely it is that they are ignoring it and hoping it goes away.

It seems MS are softening on the decision to not allow KB+M on Xbox, despite recognising the existence of the input advantage. I feel they know Sony won this round so are looking to differentiate themselves somehow.
Forced cross play and Rare feel like an experiment.

I personally don't think they're choosing the right direction to do that and they should have stuck their neck out on SOT being a unique game that PS players should want....instead they've chosen to unite their platforms and try to move players from being so Steam dependant.
It probably makes sound business sense at this stage. Rare aren't a company MS need to keep an interest in but let's hope SOT and Rare aren't another Fable and Lionhead.
