Merchant outpost to outpost

  • Face it... the merchant missions need help. Here's a list of things I would ad for convenience
-Canon ball/Banana crates - fill so sell or to use
-All other crates available to buy outright instead of canceling missions to get them

    • patch missions that allow you to collect up a sizable order from an outpost and deliver to another far away.
-merchant flags/sails - something that outright let's people know that all you carry are chickens, pigs and other merchant valuables

  • @thathiflyinguy I'd love to have outpost to outpost voyages. I'd love them to add the silks, spices, and teas as part of these voyages - deliver exotic silks to X. The downside is that, generally, people accept that people leaving an outpost have nothing. That would change if outpost to outpost voyages were added. I'd love to see them, though.

  • @bran-the-ent What's the downside again?

As it stands right now, if you see a ship dock & then leave an outpost, and they're heading in your direction - you already know that they have nothing to lose, and everything to gain. This suggestion would change that, for the Pirates doing Merchant missions [at least].

    I likey.

  • Yep. At Outpost A you get a contract to go to Outpost B to pick up generic shipping crates and take them to Outpost C. Simple addition.

Also could get a request for three crates of silks or tea that you have to find yourself. Bring those in as part of a voyage for extreme profit.

  • Gimme a flag for every in game thing! Merch flag, oos flag, gh flag, bilge rat flag for events

  • I'm glad you all aggree, the round about is frustrating. Up vote up vote up vote!

  • @wodyo I'm not referring to ships heading toward you. If a ship is leaving the outpost with goods, they're likely not going to be heading toward you.

I'm referring to ships in general. As a general rule, ships leaving outposts have nothing and aren't worth taking the time to sink (unless you're one of those sailors.) This would change that and you wouldn't know if a ship leaving the outpost was empty. That's a downside for those who are leaving the outpost empty. I don't mind that idea, but it is something people will complain about.

  • @captain-arcanic I'm hoping that you will just get the silks, etc... to deliver. It's not a guarantee that you'll be able to salvage them from islands and shipwrecks unless they increase the spawn and treat them like other animals - which means they will drop in price off-voyage and nobody really wants that.

I understand. That's why I separated the two ideas. One is a generic crate of goods, the other is the three spice/silk crates that you actively have to search for. This will assuredly be more difficult, which is why you should get significantly more rep/money for completing it. The amount could even be unlimited. Manage to bring in 10 by the due date, get double rate for all 10.

  • @captain-arcanic Yes, but my concern is what happens to the price of silks, etc... that spawn in shipwrecks when you aren't doing a merchant voyage. I don't want them to make them like the animals where it's no longer worth picking them up. If you keep them as an outpost-outpost delivery, then it's not really necessary to drop the price off-voyage for shipwrecks and island spawns.

  • @simplybutta You just have to use the flags like me :
NOTHING : I just spawn OR I'm shoping OR I want to be sneaky
    WHITE : I'm peaceful
YELLOW : I'm doing a Gold Hoarder voyage
RED : I'm doing an Order of Soul voyage
BLUE : I'm doing a Merchant Alliance voyage
    LEGENDARY : I'm doing a Legendary voyage
    BLACK : I'm doing a Fort
RAINBOW : I'm doing a Bilge Rat Adventures
SHARK : I'm Fishing OR Fighting sea monsters
CHECHERED : I want friendly interaction with other crew (drinking, playing music, chalenging others crew, racing or something else)
JOLLY ROGER : Dont be in my line of sight or you gonna be my next victim !!!

  • just got my lvl 50 merch. it really did take a long time, and truth be told i burned a lot of voyages. don't need to worry about these voyages no more but i support it, even though people coming afterward would have an easier time with it, if not funner

  • Reminds me of ol' Mount and Blade where you would travel to each city, see what is being sold, see which cities you can sell to for profit, and then buy stuff and try to sell it. Major investment with risk/reward.

We already do this same thing, but specific flags with faction emblems would be better than current flags b/c other pirates wouldnt just look and say “blue flag, lets attack anyway, flags mean nothing” even tho it wouldnt stop anyone from flying a merch flag with 10 skulls/chests on board lol
