Well, Do I need to say more. How many of you are at a fort and just when your done a sloop comes up shoots your boat no more than twice and sinks it. Your moving around and you shoot the guy twice (pistol and then blunder bust) and still the guy doesn't die. He shoots once with his pistol and at full health bar, your avatar dies. This is happen to much that becomes frustrated and annoying. I had to stop playing and rage quit become this is happen to often. For me this is the 4th time. The timing of these guys are impeccable. I'm proposing to catch them. Ask me how and I will gladly write up the blueprint. I'm just curious if anyone else want's to catch and band.

You can record your game session... also literally has never happened to me. Maybe youre cursed?
@rattlyfob I would consider myself very lucky if I was curse. Then it would explain it. But a few of my friends are having the same issue. I just got tired and decided to post and created it today. I just want to find out if anyone that cares about the game if they want a solution. I do have one. But without demand, what can I say. My words will fall into deaf ears. If I don't get more than 500 and It's no use for the solution and SOT will be considered just another game and have console users just walk away from the game, end up in the shelfs of GameStop for 1.99 until something new comes along.
@norloc Well, I wish I can say the same about me. But I have a lot of videos to prove that i'm just above the average joe and sinking ships is my galore.
I have played this game and I'm at level 50/48/43 without any server hoping, or fort hoping. I'm sure Rare can get my record and standby my claim. I have put a lot of hours to try to accomplish the "Legend Status". I have notice that some of the players I have played with where lower than me and now just a few weeks they have become LEGENDS. Does it matter. No. But it does make you wonder why not stop the hacks already. For me personally it takes the joy out of having fun. But when I have my 7 year old play with me and we are having fun and that fun gets spoiled. In really grinds my gears. Nature of the game of course and I give props to the actual good players. But not the cheaters.
@cb4nd17 Hundreds and hundreds of hours played here, never seen 1 cheater. Seems to me like people think someone is cheating anytime they get bested. Not saying they don't exist, but the odds of running into the is incredibly low. Basically next to impossible, either you're grossly over exaggerating or you're just not quite as good at pvp as you think. If you get shot in the head with a pistol it is a 1 shot kill. Your ship probably got powder kegged under the waves and then shot twice to sink so fast. The hitmarkers in this game are very off which is why you can potentially get 5 hitmarkers with any weapon and not get a kill (this is a HUGE issue, but a separate one.)
@cb4nd17 I first thought it was cheaters - seeing as they were so quick and accurate. Turns out they were just on PC. Being on Xbox feels sluggish and slow compared to their setups - even on max sensitivity.
I've seen a few cheaters but that was early launch mostly. Last one I saw was about a month ago. Guy was idle at a fort and had a skele blunderbus mob just giving it to him and he wasnt dying while the other guy on the boat was using a cannon. Killed the boat guy then the idle logged out after a few minutes.
@cb4nd17 I'm calling BS on this. I'm no expert, but from what I understand this can't happen. A lot of what you described is handled by the server, such as the damage to the ship, and a hacker doesn't have access to this. Lag-switching doesn't affect the performance of your machine, rather it only interrupts the packages from the client using the lag-switch, so you might see another player moving erratically, but it won't affect you or the rest of the environment. Any lag you encounter could be your own Internet connection, or most likely, the fact that the Sea of Thieves servers are just pretty shoddy.
I used to play a lot of Call of Duty and given the number of players in the game, plus the encounter rate with other players, encountering cheaters was almost constant. Sea of Thieves is different since you don't encounter players that often, so the chance of encountering a cheater is considerably less in a given amount of time. I can recount two instances so far where I have suspected a possible cheat, but nothing conclusive. Unfortunately a lot of people cry 'hacker' without understanding the limitations of WAN gaming, especially when it comes to the effects of latency.

I've sunk Galleons with just 1 cannonball. Some people are just so busy with other things they forget to repair. Especially when they already have holes in the top deck, after a while it's good night galleon.
As for them one shotting, you can easily quickswap guns to make it seem like you shot once but you did so twice.
Also did you know blunderbuss is useless at long range? I lost count of how many people shot me with a blunderbuss at 3 meters and kept complaining to me that I'm a cheater. I just keep chugging bananas no problem.
As for fortress camping, yeah people lie in wait untill you clear a fort. Surely you have a lookout for these guys right?

If they hit you below waterline even once your ship will sink eventually.

Shots have RNG damage to them and if you didn't use the blunderbuss at 0.2inches away, it won't do full damage.

One hit from the pistol will not take 100% health.
And it can't be cheated, because it's calculated server-side.Calm yourself down a bit and ask yourself this question:
What is more likely:
a) A player hacking into Rare's servers altering the damage calculation
or

I get killed by players with higher skill (and luck) than me 10x per day.@lefaux2 Ok. Fine. If you think that any game is not possible to RIP... and then take some of the Auto-Aiming features (code) apply it to the avatar. Then your wrong. There are many ways of avoiding the File Integrity check. As software developer can trick it by modifying the log. The best way to avoid it is to have the game itself in the server and no file systems to the client. It's costly and that's why they have the dump into the console/PC. When you give the files to the user. You just lost control of your files. One way to combat this, is to have a very well written program to check (file integrity) almost like League of Legends. But the truth is. It's costly.
@cb4nd17 So if someone takes the time to do that with Sea of Thieves, why not report them and server hop? Then they're wasting more of their own time than yours. Better yet, show some proof instead of just calling it hacks when someone outshoots you. Again, I know they aren't impossible. But I also know you have not come across 4 cheaters in 3 months. More likely than anything is that you came across someone from a different part of the world with a laggy connection, that's something I have experienced myself multiple times and it certainly can be frustrating.
@lefaux2 I understand if it's the skeletons. But when a lower level player does so much damage with one shot, that's how you can tell they are not playing by the rules. Either RARE has created really good AI opponents, or someone has a third party application embedded. When you have been a player like myself for about 25 years of gameplay. You can tell right away when someone is cheating. Not because I'm a sore loser and can't take losing. I have my fare share of lost by better players. My hat goes off to them. The reality is I'm concern the well being of the gameplay for the average player and the future of our kids playing the game. If there is no fare game. Rare will lose the chair in the industry of online gaming. This is one game worth to fight for. Rare might of been overwhelm with the users and your numbers might of sky rocket. But the key of any successful game is keeping them. I know, I worked on EverQuest in San Diego and to keep them, is to make sure the gameplay is balance and away from the hackers.

There is a misconception in your post and I'm not 100% sure if you really meant to phrase it that way.
You use the term "lower level player".
Player levels do not affect any mechanic in SoT.
There is no item progression or alike, the player doesn't get stronger from the game's POV.
The only thing that higher reputation players could have, is experience.Regarding damage numbers:

@cb4nd17 If you actually think I work for Rare you're just proving to me and everyone how delusional you really are and are already dismantling everything you say without me needing to do so. Take off the tinfoil hat. I said there ARE people who have used cheats in this game, still are people doing it. What I said is the odds of you truly running into 4 of them are astronomically low. Lower than you winning the lottery, or getting struck by lightning. And the much more likely scenario is that you either got matched with players from other parts of the world causing lag, or you just can't admit you were bested.

May be they use a gunpowder barrel

Pistol do 50% dammage and if you are not point blank blunderbuss do almost nothing in dammage

Like you did with pistol/blunderbuss you can did it with pistol/sniper but if both bullet hit it'S 125% of your life and it can seam to be a one shot pistol if it's done fast.
- Yes there is cheater in the game but it's rare and posting it on the forum is useless... take the gamer tag and report it to RARE.

My friend and I were boarded by a sloop that came up impossibly fast, because we were sailing, full speed, with the wind. That was the first odd thing
The second was that as he leapt aboard I hit the guy pretty much point blank with my blunderbuss, then stabbed him multiple times, my friend also stabbed him multiple times, though he did not die (or even try to block), then proceeded to climb up to the crows nest as we CONTINUED shooting him, hitting him multiple times (as the big white X clearly showed). Then once he was up top he proceeded to ONE SHOT my friend (who was at full health) with his pistol, come back down the ladder with a gunpowder barrel, as I stabbed him a few more times without killing him (at no point did he even eat a banana) as he then dropped it, leapt back to the back of the ship, shot the gunpowder barrel, and killed me in the process
As I was dying he laughed and said "haha you F***IN SUCK! Get DEAD!"
Yeah...fun times
