Real Pirate Treasure

  • Absolutely love this game and ever since I started playing there is one major thing I would love to see; Real Pirate Treasure. This would be 2 fold:

    1. Ability to bury your treasure just like real pirates did. Getting chased? Evade those pesky pirates and if your lucky park up and bury your treasure. I would suggest a time limit maybe so that after a certain time the treasure will resurface if you don't go back and dig it up. Real pirates would hide their most valuable treasure but sometimes either forgot where they left it or died before they could reveal where it was!

    2. I really would love the ability to 'create' treasure maps for other players. So you would be able to bury some loot and then be able to post your map somewhere (perhaps Taverns?) or perhaps hide it for others to find and then they would be able to put it down as a voyage. Perhaps even be able to create a few different island X locations to make a proper voyage. Also maybe be able to do riddles too!

Also maybe you could decide what type of skeletons you have protecting your treasure!

I think this would add a bit of player led fun, adding a heap of new locations than just the normal places (there are some islands I have NEVER visited!) and would add a little more dimension with little effort developer side once the system was implemented.

  • @cptnmermalade This idea fits perfectly with my outpost notice board idea. Where you can post help requests, fleet requests, treasure hunts, etc. I started a thread about it if you want to check it out.

  • @arsenic-moose Thanks I'll check it out!

  • These would add so much to the game! perhaps after burying if you died it would create a message in a bottle for other players to find?

  • @nikinjapan Ah wow..now that would be great! There deffo should be a limit to how long it stays buried as I wouldn't want it abused (i.e people burying stuff to lose it out the game just so others can't have it)

  • @cptnmermalade I don't mean to rain on your parade but there was only ever one pirate who buried their treasure, so sorry to say but real pirates didn't actually hide their loot underground. That's not saying that your idea is bad however - an idea like this would greatly improve how players would interact with each other.

  • @spunkus-skunkus Haha yeah, was probably a little loose with the 'real' term, thinking more of the lore and depictions of pirates (i.e the whole Treasure Map, X Marks the spot thing associated with pirates)
