BS multiple crew co-op ruins the game.

  • Yeah, the hungering deep seals the deal for me. I'm quitting this game. It's been my favorite game since it came out. But knowing that the game devs are going to keep creating content that is impossible to complete ruins the game for me.

What a stupid idea.... Well, it would be fine if there was an LFG or something for grouping multiple crews. but there's not. The game will be unable to grow until they fix this. It will die out shortly unless the devs wake up.

Farewall SoT community. Ti's a sad day.... Such a great game can be killed with so little a change..

  • @david00011011 why are you quitting, it's just a first weekly event. Can't really say this is the only type of gameplay they will introduce. Give it a chance. It's still a fun game.

If it's impossible to complete.... how have so many managed to complete it? If we are being honest here, the problem is you... you're clearly incapable of being social and talking to other people. FeelsBad for you.

  • While I do enjoy the opportunities hooking up with other crews poses, I don’t think players should be forced into doing it for rewards. Rare needs to address rewarding players for multiple completions and help with an ability to forge a fleet.
If these things are not something they want to do, don’t make events require more than one crew. I did the megladon event multiple times (5-6). Helped my friends and strangers alike. But that was because it was a fun fight. Finding Skeleton thrones...not so fun. Hopefully Rare listens about “forced” multiple crew events.

  • My experience with the thrones event has been disappointing so far, largely due to the forced co-op.

After an hour or two, I finally found a throne. I reached it by cannon after about ten tries. Only then did I learn that it must be a multi-crew throne... because sitting in it did nothing.

I used the speaking trumpet to invite other crews. But no ships were in sight and nobody responded after 10-15 minutes of just sitting there.

So I sailed away. I happened to run into another lone slooper who was interested in thrones. So I guided him back, and picked up a third sloop along the way.

On the way back, the third sloop fired on the second with his cannon. But he stopped, so we sailed on. Later, after the three of us tried unsuccessfully to shoot ourselves up to the throne, that third guy dropped my anchor and shot me.

So I said to heck with it. It's not worth the time investment anyway. The thrones concept is okay, but I won't focus on the event and will ignore the multi-crew thrones.

  • @enticed-malice I was disappointed to learn that the hungering deep story was co-op. But I let it go. Then the very next bit of content is also co-op. This tells me that the direction the devs want to take the game is a game where a person sits around for between 1 and 6 hours waiting for another ship to pass by so you can sit on a throne. This just isn't fun.

I love the thrones idea. I was super excited about it. Until I worked hard to get on top of cannon cove only to learn that my efforts were fruitless.

  • I don't mind the mix of single- and multi-crew challenges if the latter are clearly restricted to multiple crews. It was annoying spending half an hour shooting myself out of a cannon, eating bananas, and swimming back to my ship (with loot at risk aboard) only to learn finally that I had wasted my time.

Sea of Thieves will always suffer from time management. The dynamics that keep it interesting also prevent players from knowing how long amything will take. Sailing can be slow. I won't start the game unless I have two hours to spare. So it's important that risks and rewards be as clear as possible so players can estimate their time investment.

I don't understand how someone could get to a throne without realizing it's a multi crew throne. The hint in the bilgerat progression menu for each one gives a very obvious clue which island to go to to find each one, and also says which ones need more than one crew. It's all spelled out clear as day for you.

  • @rockinpodunk

Yes exactly, the clues make it clear what’s required for each throne. Perhaps informing players that the clues are in the menu screen could be more obvious?

Right. I wasn't even aware there were clues. I was just sailing around looking in high places!

  • @david00011011 see ya next month when dlc release

  • there looking to adding multiple teams to servers from start so I wouldn't worry youll be able to get carried then :)

  • @david00011011 said in BS multiple crew co-op ruins the game.:

    impossible to complete

    :D

  • There absolutely should be content that rewards cooperation between crews because (1) it fosters community and (2) over half of players play cooperatively in crews most of the time. Rare just needs to ensure the third of players (according to their own stats) who mostly sail alone are not left out of updates. This event suits all kinds.

For situations like mine where someone uses a speaking trumpet to request aid and no ships are nearby, perhaps there could be other effects for the trumpet when out if range. For example, the maps of other players could have a flashing ")))" icon on their maps for the next 10-30 seconds in the general direction a speaking trumpet is being used.

  • How is it impossible to complete? All you got to do is communicate and get a group of people together easy seeing as we are human. Take the initiative and be proactive there is a looking for group option and of course there is the forums after all you can complain on here so why not for a crew?

I think its great. Theres 5 u can get alone. 5 with other crew. Each has a title once u get em all. Think the small ones will be enough to buy the clothes. It really is meant to be this hard to put u to the test. Maybe no one will have the co-op crew title. But there will be plenty.

Yeah I was happy to see they gave us enough solo ones to get the outfit, but I did find a group that I was able to do a couple of coop ones with before I quit for the day.

It's literally the first day of this release, try again tomorrow if you had trouble, or try a different server if you're that impatient that you want to get it all done and have nothing to do until cursed sails.

All I wanted was the hat and coat, and I got that, I didn't really care to finish it out, but that other crew asked if I could help, and I did, because I'm a nice person, believe it or not there are nice people in this community.

  • this is getting enfuriating. ive managed to get one multi throne. now I'm getting attacked from every angle. i don't want your loot i want the thrones

Actually, I did. But not right before playing, so I must have forgotten. Most players won't watch every video, of course.

If the vast majority of players know about the clues, I'll gladly admit my own stupidity.

I do honestly think they could have made it more clear that there were clues. If you didn't watch the developer video or read patch notes there was no way to even know that the bilgerat adventures was becoming a fully fledged faction with their own currency, and you never would have known that it had its own trackable progression alongside the others in the same menu.

  • what ludicracy, a game that wants people to work together!? Madness! Madness I tell you!

Please refrain from mocking or belittling other users, as it is against the pirate code.

  • Had a friend sail me to the solo thrones.
    Completed them.

Then we sailed to the last co-op throne he needed.
Another sloop sails up and wanted to complete it with us.
Then my friend quit after marking all the co-op thrones on the map.

Finished all the co-op thrones with the solo sloop player.
He sailed with me on my sloop and left his sloop behind. 👍

    You don't need 5 players.
2 solo sloops can complete the thrones together.
